  1. Also, please, if you're going to apply, don't come looking all ragged. You don't have to be in a suit and tie, but do look decent, seriously. It would help your cause.
  2. You should probably post up the time, marketing express, well, I'll do it. The job fair is 10-4. Based on the last several job fairs, the earlier you come, the less time overall you'll have to wait. I know last year and the year after, if you can around 1 or 2, you'd typically wait 45 minutes to an hour to be screened, and that was even with as many interviewers as we could gather, which is quiet many. Just to forwarn some of you.
  3. well, it's my educated guess that the parks have a serious bidder on the market, or have been sold, or are in the stages of being sold. A company does not usually announce that it is interested in divesting something unless something is in the works. It would be highly unusual for someone like CBS to state they are interested in selling the parks in hopes someone will decide to buy them. They would not use the story as a huge classified ad. For Sale: Amusement Park Chain... Doesn't work that way.
  4. and boy is the hotel going to be huge indeed. I saw the pics at the great wolf site, the place looks amazing... I guess they could do camping elswhere, but where
  5. Klockester does bring about some very valid points, especially about the parks close time. Many parks are suffering from having to close earlier and earlier due to money related issues. I know several parks, excluding King's Island, who, if they stay open til 8 or 9 pm, that's an exception. King's Island has been pretty lucky to run with the hours it does for quite some time. It has been able to stay open longer than most parks do. Klockester mentioned Holiday world closed at 8, when I went, It was closing at 9. Carowinds, on a bring a friend free day, closed at 10, but that is atypical, the rest of the week it was 9 or earlier. BoddaH, by making these small cuts in time, we can afford to continue the high quality of guest service. We will still have the staff to clean up the park, to staff the food locations, etc... We do not want to lose these aspects, hence the need to find other ways to save money, such as closing the park a little earlier.
  6. I saw plenty of people with those types of tickets last year. They just swipe them now. Granted, I work at the park and haven't bought a ticket in at least 6 years, so I may just be imagining it, but I believe the park started using those along with paper tickets 2 years ago. Not saying those tickets are good, because I wouldn't know that.
  7. we all know that Google is slowly taking over the world... They will follow the same strategy they are following now. They will let MS buy the world first, then they will come out of nowhere and convince people to buy from then instead and steal the world from MS... I am merely stating that buying a set of amusement parks is one step towards their dream of global domination.
  8. They will... If and when this transition takes place, it will be this coming off season. I mean, the 06 07 off season. You may see some changes coming the end of this year, but the park will remain pretty much as is until at least next year, or the year after.
  9. and charge a small surcharge up front... That's fine. Would you build their premier rides too? I'd like a Raven or Legend to compliment The Beast.
  10. Google King's Island, or Google Earth Park, Google's Island of Adventure, Google Park, Google Nation, Google Park Beta...
  11. our man BoddaH said his dad still owed him a bday present, maybe he'll get them...
  12. yes, I am trying to figure out how long this day is, because it is not an earth day. I mean, you're going to do all of that in a day? wow. now, coastersnsuch has the right idea, you need away to implement a program that will take several years to implement. Ok, so, in one day as a manager you would need to collect as much information as possible to help you with that plan making. You have to get out into the park and meet a lot of guests, if you already work in the park before hand, you may have an advantage here. So, now you've done some research, you'll need to make calls, have meetings, make a plan, and that's your day as a manager. Now, if I was manager for awhile, I would implement a strategy to clean up and retheme the park, or at least fix theming problems. That would be a sta
  13. I think we need a flying over near Swan Lake.
  14. well, from personal experience, SF has a long uphill battle. Last time I went to a six flags, it was much worse off than before it was bought out. I do not like how SF manages their parks or their people. It seems like they do need to refocus the park on cleaning up their act. I think they did get carried away on coasters and forgot about maintenance of older rides. When I was at SFKK last, most rides were in bad need of paint. A tree was growing right under T2 that needed trimming, because me, at 5'9" hit the tree with my feet. Good thing I wasn't taller, or it could have been a problem. A lot of rides were not able to open due to maintenance concerns and most associates were poor at best. Now, this how I hear things are at all SF. I went to the one in Chicago (Great America?) and it wasn't much better than KK. As I said, it's going to be an uphill battle for them. This is one battle I am not sure they can win, they may sell them off within the next 10 years.
  15. Six Flags needs to be cleaned up, bad. I have only been to Kentucky Kingdom, and the one out in Chicago, and they are falling apart, especially KK. That place was in decent shape before SF took over, then I went back about a year ago and everything was just about in ruins. Every single ride needed a paint job, hardly anything could operate do to maintenance issues, hardly anything could open due to lack of associates. It was awful. This being said though, I once heard SF was trying to bankrupt KK in an effrort to move it, anyone know about that?
  16. ^ this is just a guess, but I think they are wondering if Avatar would be considered a coaster and increase the number of coasters a park would have according to the Book. IE, park has 4 coasters, gets a disk-o, would it then be 5 coasters?
  17. I believe this statement does have some biad towards Carowinds Zone because you do run the site Anyways, the site is still cool none the less. I am sure they can fix an error or two that have been expressed. Just take some initiative and email them. I also imagine that the details were submitted by someone from that "other fansite" and that's why there's is listed. Relax.
  18. from what Ive been told, RCDB doesn't count a disk-o as an actual coaster.
  19. well, antique treats is behind IJST and right next to the Obey the Net Game and across from the bumper cars... Something with an IJST name, Italian Job Stunt Treats?
  20. the park, if I remember correctly, doesn't quite have 700, more like 570 or something, acres of course. We use a tad more than half. Again, I am not 100%, but I wanna say 340 acres used, or so.
  21. well, it's a seperate entity from the park. What I mean is, Great Wolf Lodge is its own company that wants to succeed. This being said, the company will do its own marketing and joint market with KI. Now, they might not get the guests next summer, (the thing is supposed to be done sometime this fall) or the summer after. I estimate it will really take them about 3 years to really get this thing out there and marketed. After that, I imagine they will start having a good amount of year round visitors, which in turn, should increase park attendance throughout the regular and winterfest seasons.
  22. this great wolf is supposed to be the biggest in the state, as if there were many, but also one impressive structure for great wolf lodge period.
  23. if you go to Great Wolf Lodge website you can then click the link that will show all about the Mason lodge. It has construction pictures, "ride" info, but as of a week ago, it had no rates, as they did not seem to be set. It did list the different amenities, etc... as well. This is a very large great wolf they are putting in.
  24. well, I went down to the park for several reasons. As I believe I said in my original post, the games general manager from KI went down there to be the resale manager last year. Now, me being a games person, I went to visit him. However, yes, if I was in the area, I would definitely stop by Carowinds to enjoy the Eagles, and the other rides too.
  25. well, Bodda, they aren't rumors if you get confirmation from Maureen. Just saying, ya gotta trust me sometimes. Anyways, I will be working that day, I'm sure. I don't think I've ever missed opening day.
