Freestyle Music Park: Does It Have A Future?
Poop Loop, I was looking forward to a second visit. Freestyle's services were far better than any other amusement park I have been to. I really enjoyed the appearance of the park also, however it was lacking in the food and rides depts. For less than $20 a couple(two for $17.76 plus SC taxes), I got more than I expected, and it would have been worth $17.76 a person.

Paramount Pictures: New Paramount Park In Spain
Not really, other than Korea, it is just a bunch of annoucements, and Korea isn't getting anywhere fast. Most of the concept art being used to promote it, it is just reused concept art from the American parks. http://www.thethemeparkguy.com/park/paramount-movie-park-korea/

another Kinzel son...

Ghost Town In The Sky Mudslide Causes Residents To Be Evacuated
Ghost Town's future has been dim for about a decade now. The park closed in 2002, and even in 2002, the park''s star attraction was closed with scalfolding up around it's supports. Ghost Town should have never reopened in 2007, it is also worth noting that half the rides have not reopened or were removed because they were beyond repair. Ghost Town has been doomed since even before it closed in 2002. It all started with the problems with the chairlift in the early 2000s.

Carowinds Gets CP Site Overhaul
http://www.carowinds...ay_go_karts.cfm Wow, those are some really old gokarts, they predate Carowinds. Wonder where they hide them until 2006. Same goes for Balloon Race. Awesome Aussie Twister opened in 89 not 97. Don't get me started on the coasters page.

FUN earnings release
Because it is very good news for the investors, which will make CFEC look bad to their current investors but good to potential investors that aren't named after a greek and roman god.

Cedar Fair lawyer to seek dismissal of lawsuits against Apollo sale
Seems to me, the Chief officers are just seeking a big payout and don't give a rat's *** about the unitholders.

Cedar Fair: Sale? Re-Finance? What Next?
With no offense to Mr. Kinzel or any other CFEC Brass, Dick Kinzel(last we heard) owned stock in CFEC, chances are other brass does too. It is of my opinion that DK is retiring soon with a retirement package that won't be effected by the buyout. Therefore the sellout puts extra nickels in his pocket, and otherss that will be laid off after the sellout goes through(Which I hope doesn't happen).
-
Cedar Fair: Sale? Re-Finance? What Next?
Sorry to say this, but what Kinzel is doing is a PR move. It seems to me that some of the shareholders, customers, or someone of importance could be upset with CFEC's decision to sellout. There wasn't this much stink over CF buying up PP(Media wise, not KI wise). CF said PP management would be left in place, wasn't much after that the upper management at PPHQ was gutted. Soon after that, PP GMs got theirs, or were moved to other parks.

Cedar Fair: Sale? Re-Finance? What Next?
What? Both companies, if this goes through, will have restructured. Cedar Fair's books will continue to carry the company debt...as Apollo is assuming it and it is being refinanced. It is not going away. Six Flags will, arguably, IF the bankruptcy goes through, be in better financial shape, as most of its debt will have been discharged. And Apollo is not at all above letting its companies go into bankruptcy, if need be. See, for just one example, Linens N Things. Six Flags tried to do a very similar restructuring to this one. ONE of its bondholders, widely rumored to be Fidelity Investments, refused to consent, and the bankruptcy resulted. Apparently, that bondholder had insurance against losses which paid off only in the event of a bankruptcy. In Cedar Fair's case, it takes many, many approvals for this proposed restructuring to occur. Among those is consent of 2/3 of the units, which is likely to happen but may not. There are regulatory approvals galore. There is the chance the entire deal could fall through for other reasons. Interestingly, there is NO financial contingency. That means Apollo has rounded up the financing (it's in Cedar Fair's press release). Just shy of $2 billion in financing. About the same amount that Cedar Fair took on as its total debt when it bought Paramount Parks, and considerably more than it's current approximate debt of $1.6 billion. That alone shows how serious Apollo is about this transaction, but make no mistake about it. The private company that will own Cedar Fair if this happens will have this debt attributed to it and it will continue on Cedar Fair's books...an amount even higher than if the transaction had not occurred. http://www.cedarfair...ry&story_id=210 And it is very likely they have ideas how to cut costs, cut debt and improve value. Those ideas will doubtless be implemented if the transaction occurs. They could well include changing management. Or, they may not. For a little while, at least. Do not think that management and Cedar Fair will be allowed to skip obliviously free of debt in to a future of shiny, happy new rides, many more employees and higher salaries for all. That will not happen. Simply put, CFEC's accounting books won't be tossed out and new one started. The old ones will kept and used. The goal of Apollo will be to whip CFEC into shape by cutting expenses and raising profits, then once CFEC is of more value than what they paid for it, CFEC will once again be sold off.

Cedar Fair: Sale? Re-Finance? What Next?
I was about to say something along those lines, people in a position of power always say what they think the people who vote for approval want to hear then when the time comes, they may or may not stick to what they said they were going to do.

Cedar Fair: Sale? Re-Finance? What Next?
Hope that means they don't replace Dick Kinzel(or any other CFEC management) with a programing director from ESPN(or someone who isn't already in the amusement park business). So the shareholders may get roughly 2.50 dollars more than would if they sold their share right now. I assume CF remains a public company until the sale is finalized, correct?

CEDAR FAIR TO BE SOLD?!?!?!
There is nothing wrong with hiring international employees, but when it gets the point at WnWEP and Palace took it to, they have gone too far.

CEDAR FAIR TO BE SOLD?!?!?!
My point not only can jobs get outsourced, but some companies bring people from other countries to get around wage and hour laws to save dollars. Not sure how telling the truth is immature however.

WINTERFEST CAROWINDS
HUH? Carowinds isn't doing Winterfest this season. Maybe you saw a flyer form 2006, but I don't recall Winterfest having any concerts. Busch Gardens Europe is having a Christmas event and so is Dollywood, maybe you are thinking of one of those.

What 3D Movie Should Replace Spongebob?
Geauga Lake had one and CFEC did change the video atleast once, as to popular, IDK. However, DOT did not generate the waiting line that it did back in the 90s. I would much rather see AFX taken out or some other ride than what is there.

Backwards Racer
On the topic of Thunder Road's paint... Thunder Road was red, white and blue from 1976 to 1992. KECO stripped the paint off after the 92 season. However, not of the coaster was stripped. From the station to the bottom of the lift is still white(and yellow). Also, the tunnel and brake shed is white and blue. Carowinds repainted those sections in 2006, but the rest of the coaster will never see paint again. Carowinds has said that it is too expensive. OddCoaster is lucky that it gets painted every time a bunch of boards are replaced. I have seen whole sections of OddCoaster as bare wood.

A Christmas Themed opening on my wish list.
I worked Winterfest 2005 at Carowinds and up until near Christmas, Winterfest attendance was low enough to close the park early on a few days. However, the last 2 days before Christmas and after Christmas, attendance was good. It was reported to employees that Carowinds broke even for Winterfest 2005 just like SCarowinds 2000 did. The major problem with Winterfest was that the rides are more than likely not meant to operate in the cold.

Future of Big Dipper meeting
 And that means....NOTHING...it ain't going to save the ride. At this point the ride may as well removed, the person who brought appears to care little about it, otherwise it would be somewhere by now. How much longer is CFEC going to let it sit and rot?

Hannah Barbera Costumes!
I heard the parks do not own the costumes, they are leased from a costume company, and that when Carowinds killed Animation Station, all of the costumes except for Scooby-Doo were returned. That would explain why the costumes have changed over time. Also, I have seen the same(not the very one however) SpongeBob costume at the Lexington (NC) BBQ Festival. http://www.shaftoninc.com/client_list.htm Cedar Fair, Dorney, and KBF are listed. http://www.scollon.com/characterphotogallery.asp?ItemID=224 http://www.scollon.com/ourclients.html Have yet to find HB.

SF Blogger Call II & A Little Chang News...
If you are talking about the one at SFMM, California law requires that looping coasters have OTRS. Why they were first installed on Revolution, I don't know, but it can't go back. I assume that Monty's Revenge at KBF is grandfathered in.
