  1. Looking at the cameras this morning (as I do every morning) noticing the landscaping around surf dog and behind it is being redone.
  2. Looks amazing! So glad to be a part of the Kings Island fan community. We have something there that no other amusement park has to my knowledge. A strong fan base that loves this park and loves the attractions both current and defunct that have operated here over the many years. KICentral is a way not only to learn about and discuss the park but also to connect with fellow amusement park fans who all have one thing in common - we love Kings Island and the amusement park industry!
  3. The new website looks AMAZING! Good work!
  4. While we are at it, I see that Kings Island swapped trains with Cedar Point. Seriously though, logo looks great! Especially since it showcases the train in general.
  5. Despite no trains on the rollercoaster tracks yet, they're keeping busy still. Very cool!
  6. Looks like trackwork is almost complete
  7. Kings Island Central came into existence in 2003. Dane Thomas, who started the website, just wanted a place to host pictures of the park. Kings Island Central quickly grew in popularity faster than anyone could have imagined. Over the years, Kings Island Central has grown exponentially and has become one of the very few dedicated fan and forum websites left in the industry. Kings Island Central continues to thrive even with the increased use of social media. Media Director Brad Perdue continues to keep Kings Island Central's content relevant. He keeps the main website updated by adding park history in real time and adding hundreds of photos every year to our vast collection of photo galleries. As Brad continued to add more photos, and the forums continued to grow, we started to max out our space on the current server. Brad ran the server out of space multiple times during the documentation of Adventure Port and the 2023 season. At that point, Brad and Matthew Middleton, the KIC Website Director, knew they had to do something to keep the website going. In late 2023, we started with a fresh web server and picked out a new theme to build out our main website. We have been working since then to rebuild the current website pages into the new website and give them a modern look. Our original graphic designer, Lee, also took our vision for the website and created the new logos. https://kicentral.com/ The Kings Island Central Admin Team hopes you enjoy the new website and find it easier to navigate and find the vast information contained on our website. 8. Double post. I was noticing after the migration to the new server, the forums were moving a lot slower. @malem upgraded the forum database last night. You should see the forums running much faster today.
  9. It's been too cold for painting steel.
  10. Looks great. But I have questions about what that coaster is doing...
  11. New logo and Website, great job out there!
  12. Still crazy to me how that's only 6 inches shorter than FoF
  13. DOUBLE POST: We have another lift piece in place! Honestly this thing will probably be complete in 2 weeks max at this rate. I'm guessing they want it testing by opening day.
  14. New Kings Island Camp Snoopy blog post from yesterday, some new pictures of the area. Camp Snoopy Construction Update (visitkingsisland.com)
  15. Looks like a truck is backing up right now, with what looks like another piece of the coaster or supports. Here's a new pic.
  16. Looked at the camera, looks like we have support and track in place.
  17. Looks like a crane is up at the construction site. We could be going vertical at any moment now:
  18. Racer getting more track work is also nice.
  19. New construction update from yesterday, looks like the coaster will start going vertical next week!
  20. A lot of effort has gone into building out the new website, but if you see something we missed or got wrong, please report it here. Thanks!
  21. I got rid of the top one. I got rid of the top one.
  22. Just curious are they waiting till spring to paint the flying aerial chase roller coaster? I figured it would be green by now.
  23. It changed sides to avoid a Fabio incident.
  24. Its more like Banshee's trains attached to Dominator.
  25. Banshee had too much to drink and took the loop wrong.
  26. Yes I love this design myself. Sounds like everyone worked as a team to bring this to life. As a Computer Graphic Design graduate, I love the way this looks from that perspective too! I have to agree with what robintodd said above me!
  27. Fantastic refresh. As a programmer myself I admire the effort and the (reasonably) smooth rollout!
  28. I love the new website design, being a member of KICentral.COM for about 10 years, I'm really loving it!
  29. I think it is more of a joke than a hint. If I was wrong I would not be upset.
  30. Not only that, but unless they can come up with more than $8M to buy it (or more than that local restaurant does in an entire year if not two or more years), it just seems like there are better causes. But I guess if it stirs up more business for the local Salem Gardens and they overall make more money than they would on a typical February Saturday to offset donating a dollar for every coney purchased, then it is worth it to them.....as long as the pro-concert crowd doesn't try to cancel them and boycott them....
  31. It is admittedly a positive effort, but coming from a BIG BIG Geauga Lake fan, there isnt a single D amn thing that will change their planned course of action.
  32. 1 point
I was wondering why there's not really any merch for Top Gun/Flight Deck/The Bat? Found pictures of this shirt online but don't see it for sale anywhere unfortunately. Flight Deck is what it always was when I was a kid and that is a really cool T-shirt design!
  33. Its probably just me as it is hard to tell bc of the webcams and the blur when I zoomed in on Pixlr, but it looks like more track pieces were installed today:
  34. LOL wish they would cover vertical construction more.
  35. Word on the street is that the first piece of track has officially been installed. You can keep up with this by viewing the web cams (the best you can) or if you want a piece on Woodstock’s Whirleybirds for some reason, check out the Kings Island Team’s social.
  36. Been awhile since you wrote this but Holiday World posted a video update with a timeline for testing since their track was completed or near completion (while KI had just started going vertical). If there aren’t two crews for testing, it seems there’d be no way for KI to get ahead. Plus, “late spring” is any time through June 19 without being a lie. Wish KI had a festival similar to Knott’s Boysenberry Festival or Peanuts Celebration in the spring so it wouldn’t matter so much when new rides opened.
  37. With or without a willingness by the park to work with Tower Topics, the show goes on and the podcast will continue to grow. We appreciate everyone who has taken time out of their day to listen. We’ll have more episodes talking about Camp Snoopy in the weeks and months ahead.
  38. I mean, in fairness. It's common knowledge and well documented that you don't like the guy. So, no surprise you got the cold shoulder. I say that with all due respect, as someone who watches your show.
  39. Definitely not a fan of this.
  40. John Matarese just did a news segment on the arrival of new track for Soapbox Racers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaDypPPtxgE
  41. Wholeheartedly. Honestly I have NO IDEA why they don’t do this. Especially for haunt. Could market as a event “add” with minimal operating outlay beyond the initial installation. Heck -Winterfest has shown they have no problem leaving unused lighting equipment in place year round, so just activate it at 6pm on haunt nights. Music. Lighting, propping could all be added to enhance. Imagine digital mapping in the tunnels of Adventure Express or glowing red lights in the woods along The Beast tracks.
