September 12, 200619 yr Ummm Top Gun will be around in 2007, but will it be called Top Gun? I don't see that ride leaving Kings Island anytime soon. I would forsee Son of Beast being removed way before Top Gun.
September 12, 200619 yr Nothing is wrong with TopGun is works fine. It's kinda new (opened in 1993). And its one of the most fun rides there.
September 12, 200619 yr ^Other than the fact that the whole thing needs a lot of TLC, especially the track itself. But I actually really enjoy Top Gun and agree they should open the queue area under the station again and add the effects again to add to the ride experience, especially since it is such a short, but fun, ride.
September 12, 200619 yr The track is fine but the color is not. I agree TopGun does need a bunch of work other than the actual ride - the color. TOPGUN needs..... New Color (Red perhaps) New movie props Lets add more to this list.
September 12, 200619 yr The track is fine but the color is not. I agree TopGun does need a bunch of work other than the actual ride - the color. It's themed after an aircraft carrier which are.........grey and silver.
September 12, 200619 yr Click for Picture Click for Picture #2 I think the red looks a lot better , you think ?
September 13, 200619 yr Red frequently fades to pink quickly...and it certainly did in Top Gun's case (as it has on Magnum, Steel Force, Mamba, Face/Off, etc.)
September 13, 200619 yr I remember that station. It was my first trip to KI. I doubt that CF will have the old station back up because the name might change. Im geussing the name will be Thunder Road. But thats what Im geussing. Top Gun could use some improvements. New track color, faster chain lift, other than its fine.
September 13, 200619 yr I understand a park has to watch the pennies closely, and spend on those attractions that get the most attention, but it is a shame to see a ride not be as great as it was when it was new. I remember seeing tons of people actually stand in the "viewing area" of TG and watch the ride go by.
September 13, 200619 yr Maybe one of these years instead of adding a new ride they will decide to rework Top Gun. Some new track could add some major excitement to the ride. TG has plenty of speed left at the end of the ride that it could accomodate a few hundred more feet of track, maybe snaked out into the woods. I believe Kennywood reworked one of there coasters in recent years instead of building a totally new one, extra pocket change I guess.
September 13, 200619 yr Red frequently fades to pink quickly...and it certainly did in Top Gun's case (as it has on Magnum, Steel Force, Mamba, Face/Off, etc.) Actually, Magnum faded to light orange, as its official color is Molly Orange, not red as many enthusiasts had previously thought. Oh wait, this is the Kings Island forum, not Cedar Point's!

Oh wait, this is the Kings Island forum, not Cedar Point's! CP PR can call it light orange if they want, but it's still pink! Top Gun was about the same, perhaps a bit lighter. I rode Magnum the day it opened. Anyone who thinks it was orange of any shade must have spent a wee bit too much time in the bar at the Marina.
September 13, 200619 yr I dont think you will see additional track added to to TG anytime soon. But we will see new paint and general maintence down the road. Arrow Suspended coasters are something of the past and I don't think you will see S&S building one anytime soon. Anyways a lot of rides end with still a lot of speed and energy left over. Look at TTD. That thing ends with 120 mph still in the tank...
