Kings Island Announces Kings Mills Antique Autos for 2019!

Well, it's a dead end. I don't really see a reason to, intentionally, make it a bottleneck.

Let me say something to all the people complaining about the announcement- no one really cares. The removal Antique Cars was one of the biggest upsets to families who have been going to Kings Isl

  • So my 4 year old son got a bunch of train/car track for his Birthday. What did we build tonight? The Kings Mills Antique Auto's course!!  Sorry no POV was taken!

  • Best addition of the last 10 years. Taste those salty enthusiast tears.

Maybe next year when Kings Mills Antique Autos open next year, they'll move the path of field of screams to where the other haunt is down the path a little. Forgive me I don't know the name of it, but it sits in the former action movie simulator ride building that used to house Days of thunder, 007: License to thrill, and Spongebob. Maybe to avoid confusion, they'll have a sign that points which direction each haunt goes. One could go to field of screams and the other could go towards the other haunt I'm trying to refer to.

The Haunt name you are looking for is Urgent Scare (which actually improved last year, imo). B)

This should have never been removed.  I partially learned to drive on these things.  It's a cherished memory for me as it's something me and my dad did together. I lost him last year, and I'm really glad it's coming back  :)

Thanks to Chad Showalter, we have some construction update pics for you. It looks like demo continues!

Flight Commander pad is gone!

What do you think of the construction so far?

I'm very glad they've kept those trees from the center of the midway. I'm really looking forward to the landscaping on this ride.

We're here for P&G dividend day. Flight commander pad is being removed, as have some areas of the concourse near Vortex.b52fb62d787672d8e1b3cc96d1049066.jpgd0763f36241669c04033d44e02beb0ca.jpg908a5cc1f1bb9623ad5e0caf1e7df34e.jpg

Is there going to be on ride photos for the Antique Cars? If so that would be awesome. Kings Island did a great job bringing this back, my whole family is excited for this return! :)

Kings Island just tweeted out a new picture of the site!

I'm just spit-balling here- but begin construction by the end of the month? They could conceivably construct in 60-days... are they trying to have open by Winterfest by chance?

I believe they stated in the announcement (I could be wrong) That KMAA would be opening spring 2019

I doubt it. I suspect it’s the whole get concrete work done before winter sets in. It’s not impossible to do in winter, but is more difficult. I am guessing the landscaping part will wait until Spring.

EDIT: More thoughts that come to mind-

They’ll need local fuel storage if the cars are gasoline. There’s an entire department that deals with just this both underground and above ground tanks. Lots of fire code items to deal with as well as the fuel itself.

Whatever maintenance area they have to build for the cars. There’s a lot that still has to happen for this ride.

While they can physically build it in a relatively short amount of time, the background stuff is going to take the longest to deal with. Employee training for this ride will be a huge deal especially if they have to hire a few small engine mechanics to keep it all running.

Haven’t been back in a while, but is the Flight Commander queue still there or was it removed?

Demolished for the Antique Cars, along with a chunk of the Coney Mall midway by Vortex and WindSeeker.

The second and third pics of my post above is what is left of the FC pad.

I like how the haybales are placed to facilitate/encourage peeking over the fence.

You know what I'm surprised we haven't seen yet? An artist rendering of how the track layout will look. Oh well I'm sure we'll find out soon.

I was thinking the same thing... they said it would have some water features and some great landscaping but have heard next to nothing about the layout

I’m actually hoping the layout will be a total secret. It would be something to look forwards to for next year!

We will not see one. The park has said there is no need for one. I personally like the mystery. We will start to see it take shape at Winterfest.

We got 6 months to go so its going to be awhile, yeah we might as well start the #whatsinthelayout hype train now.  Someone already made 1 layout,  maybe they can do it again! :P

Definitely needs a bridge, so overpass/underpass or some short tunnel would be cool.

Im guessing, if they are sticking with nostalgia, a covered bridge, a stream and lake, and maybe a French countryside village, maybe a lilting accordion soundtrack playing ( for something different.

Maybe a #whatsthe#$%#layout?  LOL  I will admit I am curious, as from WindSeeker view, it still does not look like much.
