August 18, 201510 yr Don specifically said he didn't think that racer was going anywhere, as it is in the top 5 of yearly ridership. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk When did he say this?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Beast tour on Sunday.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
August 18, 201510 yr He might have said that so nothing gets leaked prematurely. But I hope what he says is true.
August 19, 201510 yr Guys The Racer is getting reversed. I have several reasons why. 1. Two things being removed. We took it wrong, the "two things" could be rides, or PARTS OF RIDES (trains). 2. What trains are replacing our set of two trains? Thanks Carowinds for two trains. 3. Why are these two trains important? I believe The Racer was made to run forwards again, since the head rest was not supported by the train body. KD's had more supported headrests, but not to the degree that Thunder Road did. Supposedly, this lack of support may have affected liabilities with insurance.
August 19, 201510 yr I might just have to squeeze in a visit tomorrow, to make it three KI announcements in a row. If so, I have a lot of work to get done tonight. Just in case anyone near me (Columbus) wants to go and split the gas, let me know.
August 19, 201510 yr I thought of that being a possibility. But the problem is that Kings Island is getting two trains from Thunder Road, which had four cars each. If one side of The Racer is getting their trains replaced by Thunder Roads former trains, it wouldn't be fair, as the trains on The Racer run with five cars, unless both sides are each getting a new train, but then it would become a capacity nightmare.

August 19, 201510 yr If the Thunder Road trains are PTCs, then they cannot be run backwards to my understanding.
August 19, 201510 yr Pack it in fellas, Indy Star leaked it. They're rebuilding Son of Beast with a loop.
August 19, 201510 yr I think the thing it'll miss most is making eye contact with others before the pseudo "race," but we all know that the fun really starts once you come to a complete stop. Out with the old.
August 19, 201510 yr Like I have said I don't think The Racer will be removed if anything it will go back to running reverse or a refurb.

August 19, 201510 yr Not that I'm really qualified to comment, as I never got a chance to ride Son of Beast, but I've heard very mixed reviews regarding its layout. Some really loved it. Some found it to be incredibly mediocre. EDIT: Nevermind, you were suggesting a redesigned layout. That would be something entirely different.
August 19, 201510 yr I liked S.O.B but I think a new layout would work better maybe deigned by RMC to be a much more reliable coaster and take it to the next step. Also I feel the next woodie they will get will be in 2022 for the 50th anniversary.
August 19, 201510 yr I'm noticing that a very prominent user who typically makes great use of the "like" button is not doing so today in this thread. Interpret that as you wish
August 19, 201510 yr Speaking of unusual member activity... I think the thing it'll miss most is making eye contact with others before the pseudo "race," but we all know that the fun really starts once you come to a complete stop.Out with the old. Is that a troll I smell?
August 19, 201510 yr Nothing's a clue. Everything's a clue. https://twitter.com/DonHelbig/status/633805153079062528
August 19, 201510 yr Those who know don't talk, and those who talk don't know, as is often repeated here. My prediction is that something is being added and/or something is getting removed and/or something is being changed, and we'll find out the specifics tomorrow. And you can quote me on that if I'm right
August 19, 201510 yr SINCE 1972: There has been the lack of a public men's room to the direct northwest of The Racer. AND: There has been the lack of a public ladies' room to the direct northwest of The Racer. ...I feel like Ioan Gruffudd I just stretched so much!
August 19, 201510 yr The ones who know stay silent... the ones who do not know speak....(Interpret that as you wish! )
August 19, 201510 yr 75 user(s) are reading this topic Wow I've never seen a topic this popular before lol! I don't have any clue what KI could be announcing tomorrow but if I had to guess, it could be relating to a certain Tower Gardens. Has it been around since '72? If not I'm totally wrong about it.

August 19, 201510 yr I have been bummed with the removal of KCKC & the Antique Cars. But variations of each can be found at other parks. Racer though? This one would sting for quite a long time. Business is business, and often times it sucks and tastes like garbage. I hope for a redo to how Racer was back in the mid/ late 70's. Hope.
August 19, 201510 yr Quoting BoddaH: "I meant what I said and I said what I meant." We're getting a Popeye attraction?
August 19, 201510 yr I go back and see one post from BoddaH1994 saying, "I'm hearing rumblings about two things from 1972...". And then the 'two things' theory took off from there. Does anyone else have reason to believe the 'two things' suggestion has merit beyond that one post? Or did everyone just run with it?
