King Less Island

Featured Replies

This might be a bit silly, but KI has well no king... How would you feel about KI actually having a King and his guards, joker, even his personal band roaming about the park? Also able to get pictures with? Or even going as far as having a whole new themed area to accompany him?

This is the only picture I have seen that has something to do with something king related, as you notice the crown above.

I'm not quite sure that a king would fit in Kings Island now, unless of course a new area was themed, then I would be all in for it.

Next topic, we discuss the relocation of Kings Island to an actual island.

Kings - Kings Mills

Island - Coney Island

Name was chosen via a public contest in late 1970.

This is what I picture and Im a bit creeped out

That is what I thought of too. Something you wouldn't want to see roaming around Kings Island.

If they did (which I don't prefer) do that I would want a themed area. (Not that big of an area)

No way, Jose.

It's not like Disney with iconic, well, Disney characters. Or DC/Marvel characters. Or the Peanuts. I think a plain old king would just be sort of cheesy. And creepy (especially since everyone would probably associate it with the aforementioned Burger King king).

In an answer to the original question.....

How would I feel about that....?

It would be the most horrible idea for a "mascot" in Kings Island history, honestly.

Just because the name has the word "Kings" in it does NOT mean that it has or ever had anything to with an actual king or multiple kings.

It didn't.

That's almost like saying that because the word "Island" is in the name that we should move the whole park to an island.

Any form of "mascot" dressed up as a "King" would just remind me of the Hart Park over in Louisville.....

There's a reason why it's called Kings Island, and it has nothing to do with an actual island or king.

If they ever were to resort to having a king character walking about, then they should go the extra mile and construct a moat around the park, surrounding it with water and making it an island!

;)

I'll disagree here. I believe that the Burger King King should be roaming the Island. Maybe around Halloween since creepy is in at that time of year. :D

I pictured a roving band of 10-15 bad Elvis impersonators...Short Elvis, Fat Elvis, Vegas Elvis, El Vez, 6'11" Elvis, Korean Elvis, Satanic Hellvis, Tortelvis, Melvis, GI Blues Elvis, and some others.

Would be good and terrible.

Imagine the conversation had runner-up "Coney Mills" have become the parks moniker?

A walking chili-cheese dog as a mascot? Wearing (for some reason) a crown, carrying around a scepter?

It's a little weird, but I feel like having a King would make the park "his", while now it feels like it's "ours."

I agree that if there ever was a King, it should be during Haunt. Some sort of mad King inside the entrance welcoming people. Although the current character in that position is quite good, and I'm not sure I'd want him replaced.

New sponsor for the Slaughter House! :) Just change it over to cows or a bunch of processed blobs that kind of look like hamburgers...

I'm actually surprised we haven't had a medieval-themed Haunt/FearFest attraction considering almost everyone else in the chain had one in their lineup at some point. Knott's even had a maze based loosely off the Inquisition (aptly titled The Inquisition) alongside a scare zone called The Gauntlet. Just another one of many themes Neither-Royal-Nor-Water-Logged Park's haunted event has yet to look into, just like a Toy/Doll-themed maze, a School-themed maze, a Casino-themed maze, etc....

I'm going to open up Queens Island and have a queen roaming the park.

You might be in need of the services of a most honorable trademark lawyer!

I mean, I think it would be sort of amusing. I think they should give it a whirl maybe for one season and see what people think. Offer a guest poll in the park of what they think and go from there. And even if it only ends up being a one season gig, at least one can say they saw a "king" wandering his island. Could become some sort of urban legend lol hahaha.
