October 5, 200322 yr Since Boomerang Bay is going to be a "water resort" with "5 star amenities" I am wondering if PKI will offer different food. I would think that PKI would re-theme their eateries and offer something a little fancier and hopefully something Auzzie-oriented. It would seem to me that Caribbean Cones would be out of place in an Australian themed water resort. Perhaps it'll be re-named something like Outback Cones. And as for Sharkey's Eats...I'd hope it'd be re-themed and offer at least one Australian dish. We'll have to wait and see. I don't expect to see vegemite or kangaroo burgers (yes some Australian people really DO eat kangaroo, though I never would) on the menu - but I hope there will be some Australian flare in the cuisine. Have a great day! Italian Chef
October 6, 200322 yr Author I surely hope that PKI will have some Australian influence in its culinary and/or beverage offering at Boomerang Bay. I really do.
October 6, 200322 yr I bet a restaurunt will be called the boomerang barbie. omg that would be a great name and I just made it up.
October 6, 200322 yr I hope they add another full service bar into BB. The one at BGSS, is usually filled, and I'll bet it brings in the dough. Having tropical drinks available would be perfect.
October 6, 200322 yr I`m sure PKI`s executive chef that they hired back in last November (I think his name is David Zellner) is involved in coming up with some of the menu in Boomerang Bay. I do recall in an article in which he said that future restaurants would be coordinated with future additions. I for one can`t wait to experience BB in May, regardless of what food stands or restaurants are added.
October 6, 200322 yr i dought that the food in the main park may change but in bb i wish that they had leroy selmons ribs from tampa and out back owns them but i dought they would have them chances would probaly be around .001 not real good in my perspective and they food there is sort of australian. has any body ever eat there its some good stuff
October 9, 200322 yr Author I`m sure PKI`s executive chef that they hired back in last November (I think his name is David Zellner) is involved in coming up with some of the menu in Boomerang Bay. I do recall in an article in which he said that future restaurants would be coordinated with future additions. I for one can`t wait to experience BB in May, regardless of what food stands or restaurants are added. This year I asked a total stranger to take a picture of Mrs. Chef and I in front of Bubba Gump Shrimp Shack. After the kind stranger took our picture, we recognized him (from the newspaper) as Mr. Zellner. Therefore we introduced ourselves to him. You are correct on both counts. The name of PKI's executive chef is David Zellner and he did say future eateries would be associated with rides. I hope that it will hold true for Boomerang Bay. Have a great day! Italian Chef
October 12, 200322 yr mr zellner is also the Food Department Head guy. he makes the decisions in the food areas. -zoid
October 14, 200322 yr Author I hope that Mr. Zellner will provide Boomerang Bay with some Australian flare in the cuisine.
October 14, 200322 yr If he was behind gump shrimp I like him already. The theming for that place is great.
October 14, 200322 yr I wished i could try the the gump shrimp, but im alergic to shrimp. Edited January 1, 197056 yr by beastbreakdown
October 15, 200322 yr There is more then shrimp. Not sure how allergic you are. So im not sure if its all in the same oil or not. They have chicken strips that are good and fish.
October 15, 200322 yr If he was behind gump shrimp I like him already. The theming for that place is great. Dave Zellner is not in charge of the theming for any food stand. Paramount Parks corporate design does that.
October 15, 200322 yr Author Well I surely hope that Paramounts Parks has something good planned for Boomerang Bay's eateries.
October 17, 200322 yr I don't think Zellner is the executive chef... I believe there's another person with that distinction.
October 17, 200322 yr Zellner was and I believe, still is the corporate chef for Paramount Parks. He has created many ice sculptures for PKI's media preview dinners. Created the wonderful deserts of Tomb Raiders media preview... among other things. Edited January 1, 197056 yr by beastfreak
October 18, 200322 yr Author According to the article below in The Cincinnati Enquirer, David Zellner is "the new food service manager for Kings Island" and "the park's first executive chef". http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2003/04/0..._pkifood02.html Have a great weekend! October 18, 200322 yr Author I'm part of his management team... not a chef, though I have thought about it. If you are young and childless....waste no time. Sign up for culinary classes even at night! A chef is like a cleric...it's a calling, much more than a profession. A chef is an artisian, a creator, as well as a dietician. GO FOR IT! Italian Chef
October 20, 200322 yr Mr. Zellner's a great guy, too. Definately enjoy talking to him, when I get the pleasure. My mistake about the executive chef thing.
October 20, 200322 yr Author Losing Streak, Regardless of your career path, I wish you the very best of luck. Sincerely, Italian Chef
October 21, 200322 yr Then you get people like me who try to cook and end up sending people to the ER.
