Which ranked number is Carowinds now for largeness?

According to the article it states 50 million not 30 million.

Money for everything but a new coaster?

Wow go carowinds:

$30 million over 3 years is nothing special. That is only 10million a year. Most parks spend that on a down year.

Maybe 30 million on non-coasters, plus another 20 Million for a new coaster in 2015 or 2016?

The article I read was unsure of the amount, but it was confirmed after I posted that it was $50 million, not 30.

This is a LOT more park-changing than most here could even imagine.

And the corporate satellite office is now in Charlotte.

And many will forget that Paramount Park`s corporate office was down in Charlotte prior to the Cedar Fair acquisition. And I bet that Charlotte has a lot better airport in terms of destinations served than Sandusky.

This is great news. I visited the park a couple summers ago and there is so much potential. There is so much opportunity with the land they have.

We drove past the park on our way to Disney over spring break. I was literally drooling against the window while everyone else didn't even seem to notice (I'm such a coaster nerd). I've never been there but heard it's a nice park. With this expansion I want to go even worse, so hopefully it's be soon. I just can't wait to find out what all will be added to the park!

That's where I'm confused. In what terms are they talking about? Overall acreage of the park or attendance?

I'm guessing acreage.

As of now, both Cedar Point and Kings Island have 364 acres. Canada's Wonderland has 330 acres, and I'd assume that after the expansion Carowinds would take the next spot.

Yep, KD has 400 acres. It may be the biggest Cedar Fair park. That's surprising that KI hasn't expanded to 400 acres or more considering all the land that they own.

Is Carowinds really 398 acres? If so, then that wouldn't make any sense. How could it be the 2nd largest park in the chain before the expansion, but be the 4th largest park after?

Charlotte most certainly does, in fact that's the main reason why Chiquita bolted out of Cincinnati in favor of Charlotte.

At any rate, Cedar Fair primarily uses Cleveland's airport to reach Sandusky.

This may have changed over the last decade, but I always thought so as well, due to the size of the parking lot being much smaller than KI's. I have not been by that park in 15 years so my info could be off now!
