January 5, 201313 yr It was, indeed, a glorious ride. Twenty years from now, many will have wished they had ridden Son of Beast, and parents will tell their kids about the ride. Edit: Hysterical typo fixed. Thanks, TheCrypt.
January 10, 201313 yr I have a question for Don. Do you have any advice for those of us who want to one day work in a parks PR department?
January 10, 201313 yr My question for Don would have to be this: How often (if ever) do you get to walk around Kings Island in the winter, and what's it like seeing the park covered in snow?
January 10, 201313 yr Im pretty sure Don walks around the park whenever he wants, and snow at the park doesnt mean a dang thing to him! Just my opinion!
January 10, 201313 yr Author Im pretty sure Don walks around the park whenever he wants, and snow at the park doesnt mean a dang thing to him! Just my opinion! Seeing a wooden coaster back in the woods, with snow covering it has to be pretty beastly!
January 10, 201313 yr I spoke to my wife about coasting for kids, she is an RN in Columbus who would like more detail if you could provide Don? We would love to donate and ride! She made my day,she said she can handle marathoning Racer! Lets do it! Im going to warn you, better have both trains running! I would love to see Terp,Indy,Ohio Colts, all you Beast fans, the Cyrpt, and ibew brothers, top gun-your the man,you know who you are!!!
January 10, 201313 yr I want to add,i watched Don escort DB fans away from DB during coasting from kids,i didnt li!ke that! I believe you should let them ride,no big deal!Love Don but let them ride! I was there. didnt like Dons vibe!

I was there. didnt like Dons vibe! It was asked of all Coasting for Kids participants to remain in the Coney Mall area by The Racer until all areas of the park were open at 10am so guests weren't going through areas of the park that were not open, unescorted. It is important that all participants follow the guidelines that have been established when parks have these types of events.
January 10, 201313 yr 200+ rides on the Tumblebug??? How many years since your last ride? Twenty-seven years. October 5, 1985.
January 10, 201313 yr What do you like about your job the most? The people I work with and interacting with park guests.
January 10, 201313 yr What was your best hockey shift? Three goals in 1995. Ended the game with five goals and one assist. I had 11 goals the entire season that year.
January 10, 201313 yr If you could pick one ride for the park to get what would it be Don? One Show? One Soak City? finally One Snoopy Zone Ride? Sit Down Restaurant?

They looked like two grown kids who just got in trouble on the play ground! HaHa
January 11, 201313 yr Will there be any changes to Tower Gardens in the near future? The Tower Gardens area will remain a designated smoking area during the spring and summer months and be used for a Haunt attraction in the fall in the foreseeable future.
January 11, 201313 yr How much of an impact has Diamondback had on overall park attendance? Because we are part of a publicly traded partnership with Cedar Fair Entertainment Co., we do not release attendance info on an individual park basis. What I can tell you is Diamondback quickly established itself as one of the most popular rides in park history. People have come from all over the world specifically to ride it.

I know its not your call, but this dissapoints me. Such a potentally beautiful space (as it was in the past) wasted on a typically empty smoking area. Would love to see this area used as some sort of "history of KI" section, I guess if they ever put me in charge Thanks for taking the time to answer questions.

The area where the Kings Island Hall of Fame resides near the KI Theater is a location that we have discussed adding a park history piece to at some point.
January 11, 201313 yr Author Has their ever been talk/plans of changing Kings Island's name (in year's past)? I'm fine with the name but I'm just curious if their have ever been plans. If their were plans could you say what some of them were?
January 12, 201313 yr When does the park start to prepare for the next season and how much time does it take to get the park ready and open? How many people are on these crews? Is it one of those things where there is plenty of time, or do you ever wonder if you will be ready on time? Also, whats your favorite food item, past or current in the park?

Within hours after the last day of the season preparations begin for the next season in each department. Sometimes you'd like to have more time, but we're always ready to go when the bell rings on Opening Day. Pizza and fresh-cut thick fries are my favorite food items but some of the menu items that were added last year like the cheese steaks at the Snake Pit in Rivertown and the Italian Sausage that was out in Soak City are knocking at the door. There was a time when a hot dog with chili and a large Mello Yellow from the Lunch Basket (now Skyline Chili) in Coney Mall was what I had every visit.
January 12, 201313 yr The two dollar Italian sausage with peppers in Soak City during the Haunt was the Slam! Place a sausage wagon next to the fries by the train station in Rivertown! Please?
