February 23, 200422 yr Hi there, has anyone stayed at the Kings Island campgrounds before? I'm staying there this summer and was wondering if anyone had any advice, pictures, or any information whatsoever. I've never been camping before but the people I'm going w/ have. I'm not too excited about it, but I was just wondering if this place is ok? Thanks.
February 23, 200422 yr Well... the campground is not anything like you would find a national forest/park, though maybe close. It just has a few roads that run around the lot with pull offs to park your car and a grassy area next to it to put up a tent and fire ring. I don't know what else you really want to know. Campgrounds are just place to put up a tent, they don't normally offer anything else, sometimes electric, sometimes a water hook up for a camper.
February 23, 200422 yr I did the camping thing for years at PKI and the other parks. I like PKI campground and would have liked to keep going and camping but the cost of doing so is to high. I had a travel trailer with a diesel truck to pull it with and it was great. The cost of fuel and the campsite are twice as much as getting room. It cost even more up the road at Cedar Point. The only way you can save is if you stay in a tent. Edited January 1, 197056 yr by captain picard
February 23, 200422 yr Author Yeah we will be staying in a tent. I think the site is like $20/night. Is that a high price for a camp site?
February 23, 200422 yr No 20 is good for a park I think their full hookup is only 27 or 28 a day but it adds up if you stay long. You can also get a discount if you have AAA or a season pass. Goto Cedar Point and you will pay 50 to 60 a day for full hookup and that is high. Edited January 1, 197056 yr by captain picard
February 23, 200422 yr The campground is great its really cool to see the Sun Come up over the Park and its easy to get there right when the park opens

February 24, 200422 yr You would be better off staying at a closer motel. PKi's Campground is.....lacking trees and stuff.
February 24, 200422 yr Author Thanks for the picutre! Does anyone know where there is an overhead map of the campgrounds. We are going to call today to make our reservations - where should we ask for our site to be? Close to bathrooms? in the back? any suggestions? well I would probably be more comfortable in a hotel but I can't afford $40-50/night. Thanks for the help everyone.
February 24, 200422 yr You all forgot the best part! The campground has a shuttle from the Check in house right to the very front of the park! Nothing wrong with walking out your tent, hoping on a little bus that drop you off right at the front door!! Plus you get to see the park from a different point of view just a bit!
February 24, 200422 yr Just hop on Congo Falls to wipe away your stench, especially if it's a hot night.
