Best Coaster Under 100' Tall

Featured Replies

I'd have to say Scorpion at Busch Gardens was pretty intense... Also, I really enjoy Corkscrew at The Point. I love the short hop before the loop.

Also, any of the suspendeds because they are that darn cool. Too bad we don't see much of these any more.

Lightning Racer is my pick. Great turns, a lot of speed, and a great racing coaster in general. The Millennium Flyer trains only make it better, it feels like you're sitting on a sofa!

Most of the coasters that dominate the Golden Tickets and various enthusiasts polls usually are coasters that are taller. This topic will focus on the best of the smaller, specifically those coasters under 100 feet tall. Coasters that just miss the 100' barrier include:

Maverick - Cedar Point (105')

Thunderhead - Dollywood (100.5')

Any of the Batman the Rides (105')

Prowler - WOF (102')

My personal favorite is Raven at Holiday World, particularly at night. If the coaster was a few hundred feet longer it'd be near the top of my wood coaster list, but as is it's a great ride and for it's size is really impressive. I can't wait to ride Phoenix at Knoebels to compare.

Let's hear what you got!

Flight of Fear all the way

I also really love The Racer. and Flight Deck is pretty cool too. It's amazing how many coasters under 100' tall are so fun and great!

I've waited a long time to vote on this because I havn't been on several of the rides that I know I'll be choosing from. I missed my trip to Holiday world and I'm not going to Hershey till the 20-21st.

Stroem, you've got me psyched out of my mind. I just realized that Hershey has GCI's a few weeks ago and had no idea that they had that good of woodies. I though I was going for a couple of Intamins and a B&M invert!

FOF gets my vote. I would be so crazy about this ride if they quit using the MCBR. I still love it but, can only imagine... until I ride Jokers Jinx that is.

I vote for The Racer. It's just plain awesome. Simple design, lots of air time, and never a wait.

Raven at Holiday World. I love that ride, even more than Legend.

Favorite Steel under 100ft would have to be Mindbender at Six Flags Over Georgia.

Favorite Wood under 100ft is also going to come from Six Flags Over Georgia and that's Georgia Cyclone. Starliner which is now defunct at what was Cypress Gardens is pulling a close second.

Indeed it is:

...During Mystery Mine's 2.5-minute journey, passengers encounter a 95-degree, 85-foot vertical drop in addition to a weightless inversion known as a "heart-line roll" and a "rollover loop" or double inversion which consists of an upward half-loop and a half-roll. Mystery Mine also features an Immelmann maneuver. Named for German World War I pilot Max Immelmann, the maneuver begins much like the first half of a traditional vertical loop. As the coaster car approaches the loop's apex, it is inverted and travels back in the direction in which the car first entered the loop. Rather than completing the loop, the coaster car rolls on its axis, becoming right-side-up while simultaneously turning away from the loop. The coaster car exits the Immelmann maneuver almost in the same direction in which it initially approached the loop....
