February 3, 200818 yr It's not real ice cream?! HE LIED TO ME!!! Edit.. I don't know what the heck I read, but I read it wrong. Lol
February 3, 200818 yr Believe it or not, it IS real ice cream. And: ....the inventor of Dip-N-Dots got the idea from the flash-frozen and pelletized cow feed supplement he used to feed his cattle..... http://www.cypressgardens.com/dining_shopp...04/dipndots.php That explains a lot.
February 3, 200818 yr But as for if Oktoberfest should go? No it shouldn't... I'd explain, But I have to leave to go to work..
February 3, 200818 yr Please do come back and tell us why later! I agree with you but would love to hear your reasoning!
February 4, 200818 yr Author Wow! I had no idea Oktoberfest was so popular. Maybe KI should add some German menu items to Festhaus and return some long missed German atmosphere to the area.
February 4, 200818 yr Given the German heritage of the area (and of Columbus, as well), it would seem to be a no-brainer....if Cedar Fair even intends to keep theming...much less intensify it. The recent attempts at ride renaming certainly don't give one much reason to be enthusiastic about those prospects, or so it seems to me.
February 4, 200818 yr If they changed Oktoberfest to something else, I'd hope they keep the nifty clock atop Festhaus. Removing that feature from KI would sting as much as removing the music from the Grand Carousel, or the symphonic music from International Street.
February 5, 200818 yr Honestly, I wish that they would up the theming of the Festhaus and have some German food in there rather than LaRosa's, as much as I like it... Even the chinese restraunt... which the name has slipped my mind at the moment... That's the most ridiculous restraunt in there in my honest opinion. If they remove Oktoberfest, pretty soon, as stated earlier in this thread I believe, Coney Mall would go, then Rivertown would disappear and then Kings Island would just be a clutter of rides with no theming to them what so ever. It would seem just like a big overpriced carnival and it would be rather boring... Just my 2 cents on this.
February 20, 200818 yr Yes i think it should go for one plain reason. There is absolutely nothing in there besides AE and Viking Fury. It is literally a 200 foot walk before you enter another section of the park.
February 20, 200818 yr ^Ah yes Terp i did forget KI's major eatery. I would like it a lot better if they would keep up the theming on it.
February 20, 200818 yr I'd like it even better if they didn't serve me overpriced, usually cold pizza there.... Kings Island is in desperate need of a nice, sit-down, full service eatery. There's legitimate money to be made doing such. Put another way, I really miss International Street Restaurant...and how.
February 20, 200818 yr I have noticed the past couple of times i have eatn there the pizza and other food has not been as adequate i iwas hoping for the price. Though now i do eat at Panda Express which is very tasty. IMO

I'm so glad that my aunt and uncle took me there to eat during our trip there in '92. If only we had ridden the monorail...
February 22, 200818 yr Wow! I had no idea Oktoberfest was so popular. Maybe KI should add some German menu items to Festhaus and return some long missed German atmosphere to the area. If I could by some German food in the Festhaus house I don't think I would eat any where else. I just love the food at October Fest. Wonders if Izzies would open up a little place.
February 22, 200818 yr I am part german but I am not fond of the German food. Izzies is a cool place they have awesome pickles.. There use to be one in Fields ertle I do not think its there anymore.
February 25, 200818 yr why not just change it to "Waterpark Transport" that's all it is anymore Kings Island and Miami Valley Railroad was a far better name than just Kings Island railroad, the name along with references in the station and theming, apply to a lot of Cincinnati and the surrounding area's history. I wonder what made them change the name? At Cedar Point it's called "Cedar Point & LAKE ERIE RAILROAD", why would Cedar Fair chage KI's?
April 12, 200818 yr The sad thing is that Oktoberfest is now about as German as International Street is international. . .
April 12, 200818 yr Well, if we are to believe that there really is a concentration on Nostalgia (as we've been fed/told) we may see a return to more specific theming.
April 12, 200818 yr I'm anxiously awaiting the return of Humble Pie and the Lunch Basket, not to mention The Rotor and the roving Clown Band! Heck, even Jeff may be back!
April 12, 200818 yr I mean lets see Oktoberfest German? There is a freakin asian eatery in the Festhaus the queen of the German restaraunts in the park.
April 12, 200818 yr I'm anxiously awaiting the return of Humble Pie and the Lunch Basket, not to mention The Rotor and the roving Clown Band! Heck, even Jeff may be back! Cafe Mexicana, Cafe Kilimanjaro, Tecumseh Taco, Quick Draw's Cafe, Bam Bam's Bon Bon's, Smurf Goodies, La Pasteria, Der Spinning Kegger, Enchanted Voyage, Sky Ride. And we never had a Burger Chef and Jeff Interp!
April 12, 200818 yr Author The only reason I suggested removing Oktoberfest was because its German heritage is all but gone. Serving pizza and Chineese food is Festhaus it ridiculous! There should be brats, metts, hot dogs, potato pancakes, saurkrat, pretzels etc. And we ought to hear German music. And other than Viking Fury, nothing looks remotely German anymore. And for those skeptics of you who say that German food doesn't sell, visit Hofbrahaus in Newport. My first choice is to restore the German heritage to Oktoberfest. My second choice is to have it absorbed by other areas because I hate to see a themed area that lacks theming. Best regards, Italian Chef
April 12, 200818 yr ....My first choice is to restore the German heritage to Oktoberfest. My second choice is to have it absorbed by other areas because I hate to see a themed area that lacks theming.... Paramount ran theme parks (or at least thought it did). Cedar Fair, at least before this acquisition, ran amusement parks. I doubt you are going to see Cedar Fair making major attempts at theming, much less maintaining high levels of theming. You want theming, you are almost certainly going to have to head to Busch Gardens, Disney or even Universal.
April 12, 200818 yr and then have to untheme portions of them, like TTD, as you put it. Wheels across the midway.....
