  1. They really need to stop hyping this until they decide on a bloody pricepoint... A lot of things seem like a great idea until you get the sticker shock of what they want you to pay... And I take issue with the review of the VR on Thunder Run that they quote in the article... They say 'VR breathed new life into this old coaster'... Thunder Run doesn't NEED new life... It's doing perfectly well in it's current life: Providing great entertainment for younger park-goers (or those who aren't into the more thrilling rides) and their families... It's got a 40 inch height requirement (tied for 2nd lowest among coasters at the park with Ghoster Coaster, Taxi Jam being lowest at 36"), if you look at the queue it is largely made up families with small children, and they aren't sending the train with empty seats... If the reviewer wants 'new life' maybe they should tell that park to look at installing a coaster with an inversions that doesn't suck moose nuts...
  2. ^^^ Ya, but that can happen during really cold end-of-seasons as well...

The system they had in place last year was pretty efficient... If would take me longer to get the card out than any of the other steps... It was a quick verification of 'this the photo you want?' and then a scan of the barcode and go on your way... Was very happy with the level of service from the ride photo booths last year... Plus, last year I'm pretty sure it cost me $30 for the day, and it was only for the ride photos, ones around the park were not included... So this year, it'd be more for less money...
  4. Even if I hated it, I'd still recommend you ride it... Even the most widely loathed rides have someone that likes them, and you might be that someone... As for my ride, I really enjoyed it... I wouldn't wait in a huge line for it, but if the line is short enough, I'll always give it a go...
  5. ^^^ Nail, head, yada yada yada... The second page in particular is... Well, I can't describe how good it is... Just anyone who scrolled by the link, go read it...
  6. ^^^ Agreed... The attendance numbers they put up at that price point? There are worse 'problems' to have...
  7. I'll be hitting CW a lot... At an hour and a half, it's easily the closest park that isn't just for small children... Hammering out the details right now of a 6 day swing through Ohio for a couple days each at KI and CP, with a bit of sightseeing and shopping thrown in... Thinking of a day trip to La Ronde or Darien Lake, mostly due to proximity... Anything above that will depend on how much time off I can get and the weather...
  8. ^^^ It doesn't sound ridiculous at all... People have other options than standing in a long line for slow service and bad food... Yes, it may cost more to improve the customer experience, but a reduced profit of me eating in the park is better profit than they make if I leave the park to eat...
  9. I found TOGO standups to be comfortable if the 'seat' was straddled... Unfortunately, having the look of a bicycle seat lead people to try to sit on it... Using it to support your weight lead to many first rides being last rides...
  10. Ya, it's not like WMG where they can just hose off the glasses... Those headsets are going to be gross...
  11. ^^^ With a top speed of around 20 and the height changes being gradual, it's fairly well suited to having something strapped to your head stay in place...
  12. ^^^ It is... you could try it near the end of the season last year for free, but it'll be an upcharge this year...
  13. They will only allow so many users per train... The loading process is already slow due to a large percentage of the riders on Thunder Run who can't buckle their own seat belts, and due to the nature of the ride, there is only one train...
  14. If as the article said 'VR will be used to boost ridership on coasters that aren’t running at full capacity' I just don't see why they chose Thunder Run for it... The 40" height requirement makes it accessible to almost everyone... If the ride isn't at 'full capacity' it's due to empty seats beside riders who are part of odd numbered groups, not due to the ride not being popular... Adding VR isn't going to make me sit squashed beside someone else... The money could've been spent on sprucing up the ride (maybe more lighting effects or a makeover for Herman?) And then there's the issue of headset cleanliness...
  15. It's kinda sad how I expect them to do things like this and am no longer surprised by it...
  16. ^^^ Nice to see I'm not the only one who finds Soarin' over-rated... "Like hang-gliding", my butt... Like watching a movie on ski hill's chairlift...
  17. ^^^ Wash your mouth out with soap...
  18. I hope they continue to develop the technology involved and learn things from previous installations, making each one they make better than the last... In which case I hope that KI gets theirs far, far down the road... Better a bit of a wait for a great ride than a mediocre ride now... Sincerely, Someone Who Has Ridden Guardian...
  19. Skyhawk is usually mostly empty during Early Entry, without the draw of Maverick back there, will there be any riders at all???
