  1. I went to Kings Island last week and was able to get two rides with very minimal waiting. I never experienced the original ride, my hook was the show. I really enjoyed both rides, and liked how they "de-fleshed out the characters." (From my perspective from the show they are static vs dynamic). I think Hilda's personality came through most of all in the headliners. Garbonzo in the cannon was a nice surprise. Sir Pretzel was a nice addition. I like that they kept some of the elements from Boo Blasters. They flashlights were surprisingly fun for the ghost notes. The smell of roses was a nice surprise. On both of my rides, there was a brief stoppage, not sure if that was to allow for the turntable to stop for rider assistance, or a technical problem but even the stoppages were "themed" with the overhead announcement. I was very impressed and look forward to riding again.
  2. Great design. The only thing I would change is: leave the banners on the trusses. I think it adds to the ambience and makes IS look more "royal". For the lamps, the flowers should be the focal point.
  3. That's what they said .
  4. I agree with a lot, but I do think their international street is one of the best ( except for the later redo with the tacky concrete seat walls and the bridge over the royal fountain). It has lots of space with how wide it is. But if we think our turnstile building is ugly, theirs is atrocious. It looks like a pole barn.
  5. I don't know the reason Intamin and RMC use those stupid style of seatbelts. Even for people who have no issues with the length, it's an awkward reach, especially if the person has range of motion issues with the shoulder. Traditional "make it click" belts like B&M use would be much better.
  6. I think Kentucky Kingdom got the better of the three Vekoma family coasters installed in the tri State area in the last two years.
  7. As my ninth grade English teacher would say daily: "People, people...love one another and use your study skills."
  8. The concrete islands that were put into the three Taft International Streets are ugly, tacky and do not tie into the lands. However, the lush landscape helps to disguise them. KI did not have lush landscaping...it was linden trees with some rose of sharon and ornamental grass. And because people, people, often trash was thrown in. KD has to compete with BGW. Taft had to appease the local opposition and has maintained that charm. I'll take today's IS at KI over the 2018 IS any day.
  9. If they want to stay true to Diamondback's theme, the would need to remove the "Ohio greenery" look and add lots of bare dirt with plantings from the Sonoran desert.... prickly pear cactus, saguaro cactus, chaparral, mesquite trees, cholla cactus, and Palo Verde trees.
  10. @Outdoor Man, Skyline could know if you posted the photo on their social pages.
  11. Behind and on the counter is on the employees 100%. Tables, floors etc are still on the employees, but as @Hawaiian Coasters 325said, patrons should do their part and clean up after themselves. You can say what you want about the under 18 children, but this entitlement rears it's ugly head up to the boomers. And it's not isolated to KI, look at hotel room check outs, restaurants and shopping carts. It's all pure laziness. In 2020 and 2021, I would had much more empathy for things like this . But those years are way behind and the company wants to lean staff and make the parks "comfortably (very) crowded."
  12. Via Marcus Leshock in Facebook: BREAKING: “Multiple bomb threats” reported at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California this morning. The California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a threat that indicated a bomb was allegedly placed at a specific location within the park, according to CBS News. Magic Mountain was scheduled to open at 10:30am local time, but it’s unclear if that will happen. Magic Mountain released a statement: “We are aware of the police activity near the park and are currently monitoring the situation in coordination with local authorities.” In their own post, the CHP said: “Magic Mountain Amusement Park entrance will be shut down as CHP works with LASO after receiving multiple bomb threats at the park.” At this time, it isn’t clear if the threat is credible.
  13. In PT:E, during banter about NLL wanting a spot in the show, Maestro tells him something to the affect of "You should never have volunteered for Houdelini's 'sawing an usher in half trick.'"
  14. What makes International Street have more ambience: the fountain pedestals and gas lamps. Redo the pavers so there is a (flat) delineation between sidewalk, curb and street (no black pavers, though, to hold on heat.) get rid of the grass around the tower and do lush landscape. Flower baskets galore in the entire area.
  15. I've said it to others on KIC, but I typically place a smiley face after ... forgot this time. I've been critical of the park before and will continue to, but will give credit when it's warranted. I don't have much to say currently because I only went once last year and none so far this year.
  16. It was said in jest, Don.
  17. This is from the drone person. He is not looking for pyrotechnics people, but drone specific. This would be akin to seeing a job posting for a clarinetist in a musical, but seeing no mention of a Hilda Bovine in said ad. The fireworks could be cut. They could erect a second observation tower beside the original. But in both scenarios, the chances are low.
  18. I was curious, so I googled this expression, which lead me to Wikipedia. It's pretty fascinating! "The phrase is thought to come from Pliny the Elder's Naturalis Historia, regarding the discovery of a recipe written by the Pontic king Mithridates to make someone immune to poison.[2] One of the ingredients in the recipe was a grain of salt. Threats involving poison were thus to be taken "with a grain of salt", and therefore less seriously. The phrase cum grano salis ("with a grain of salt") is not what Pliny wrote. Pliny's actual words were addito salis grano ("after having added a grain of salt"). The Latin word sal (salis is the genitive) means both "salt" and "wit", thus the Latin phrase cum grano salis could be translated to either "with a grain of salt" or "with a grain of wit", actually to "with caution"/cautiously.[3] The phrase is typically said "with a pinch of salt" in British English and said "with a grain of salt" in American English.[4]" Source: Wikipedia lol
  19. As usual you are correct. I want the park to do well. But, after 2022, I don't think there was anywhere to go but down. I live 3 hours away, and when I go for the day, it's a commitment. But several times in 2024, I left after 3-4 hours because I was bored. I took last year off thinking it would renew my passion for the park. I returned for one day of the bonus weekend after I bought a 2026 pass and it was the same feeling, but at least had some KI friends to commiserate with. Had no push to go back for WinterFest either. Hopefully PT:ON will reignite the fire. I don't know what the answer is, but 3 others didn't buy passes last year because they only visit with me. If enough people grow bored with the park, it will do damage. But I think the "we buy passes every year" regardless of what happens crowd will always keep the attendance up.
  20. Maybe the eyes outside on the facade are watching you
  21. I guess I'm the lone dissenter...I really enjoyed the Pickin' On covers and listen to the Spotify playlist often.
  22. Will reserve judgement until I go to the park, but looking at the facade, my mind goes to the turrets(?) are now part of Maestro's pipe organ.
