If you are riding Woodstock Express, as you are going up the first hill look to the left and you will see a nest nestled on top of the wood. My youngest nephew got a kick out of seeing a bird in the nest.

Of the last 5 people I've hired, 4 were right out of college. People hiring (should) understand that you are not going to have the same experience as someone 10 years out. I don't know what your career path is but I would say think about your student activities, volunteer experiences, practicums, internships, and part time jobs. While they may not have given you specific job experience, they have given you experience that can relate such as working as part of a team, guest service, problem solving. That is still valuable experience. Oh! And think through what could be common scenarios in your future line of work. How would you handle that if in that situation? We ask several scenario questions and the interviewee's answers are vital. One question sounds crazy but their initial reaction tells me how they will handle any surprising guest situation. Feel free to send me a message if you want some more interviewing information.

jsus - try this: http://www.ted.com/talks/amy_cuddy_your_body_language_shapes_who_you_are?language=en It sounds funny...but it doesn't hurt. Job hunting is not the most fun. I hire my team and see lots of "what to do" and "what not to do". Be genuine. Instead of saying that you are a team player, for example, give an example of a situation where you were a team player. Don't say negative things about a current/former employer - even if it's true. Do research about the company and ask questions! My favorite questions that I've been asked during interviews was not about the logistic of the job but things like, "What do you look for in a successful team member? You've said you liked being A, what was your favorite part of your job?". You'll find the right fit. Good luck!

I remembered the Fast Lane line also from last year. After not finding any online "proof" I thought I was maybe remembering things wrong.

That is really weird. Was it at the same place as before? At KI, I was offered receipts for my 2 $1 purchases and given receipts at Carowinds for 3 purchases - all under $25 and 1 was for my SP meal. That just doesn't make sense to not be offered a receipt.

Thank goodness I did not tell the niece and nephews about meeting superheroes. They would have been really sad. At this point, they are just excited about going to KI with me on Sunday.

650,000 for attendance seems more reasonable. However, in the article that The Interpreter posted, it said "And it's on target toward its goal of soon entertaining over a million people each year..." Maybe the wrong numbers were reported? I don't know. That confused me quite a bit as how feasible and realistic is that goal?

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?
This whole situation confuses me to no end. I keep picturing a flow chart to explain all that happened, and it still doesn't clear it up for me. I stopped for less than an hour last fall on my way home from Pennsylvania. If I hadn't have known about this park (thanks to this site) and drove past, I likely wouldn't have stopped. There was one other car in the parking area and there were no people at the front gate. There were fenced areas that looked as though a ride was once contained inside. As for signs or directions, someone had painted the word "Tickets" and an arrow on a fence. After walking around, I felt as though I was in another world. It was very surreal to be in a park that is nearly empty. I rode Blue Streak. There are very few instances that I actually worry that I made the wrong choice in riding a ride. This was one of those. The tunnel was terrifying to me - looking up through the darkness and getting slivers of light around the black plastic (trashbags? tarp?) that covered many of the holes. Hoping that the sagging plastic doesn't break while I'm under it and dump water on me. I sat at the front of the train and saw missing boards...and then felt the train wheels over that track area. I didn't have any desire to ride again. I can see glimmers of its past. I can see why it holds a special place in people's hearts for the place it once was. But as a newcomer, I see a whole lot of work, money, and effort needed to get it back to a place where it is considered a gem in reality, not just in memories. I wish for the best...but it sounds like quite an uphill battle.

Thunderbird has launched!
^ That's what puzzled me too. I would guess that they used gaffer's tape. It can be torn by hand much easier than electrical tape. Want to really annoy/get on the bad side of an exhibits/sound person? Use duct tape on your cords. Not that I'd know from someone else's experience or anything.

Wasn't admission at about 600,000 this past year? And they are shooting for more than a million this year. A 400,000 guest increase? I'm curious as to how they are going to get there.

Guests Say The Darnest Things
Not at a park but just had a second grader tell me that people that get sick on rides and roller coasters are probably allergic. That made his mom and I giggle. I like his theories.

Immersive Dark Ride Planned For Kings Island?
True but its also one of the few rides all parents/children can ride together and its air conditioned which helps in the heat. Maybe Im the outsider here but it doesnt/shouldnt be a haunted theme. If they go with Amusement Dark in Rivertown, then make it a light heartened fun experience in the Boo Blasters building. Maybe Im just old but maybe it should be more fun.... I agree. I missed the whole Phantom period. I remember it as the Smurf boat ride and have great memories as it was one of two rides that I could ride with my mom. The next time I was there, it was Scooby Doo themed. That whole family ride aspect is great but it doesn't have to be "scary" just because it once was. Why can't it be light-hearted...or silly. Kids LOVE silly! I'd much rather hear kids laughing than screaming. It took several visits for my youngest niece to make it through the line and ride it the first time. The ghosts and themed music scared her - that isn't a fun family experience.

Wait... Yeah...let's confuse people with the pricing structure. I've heard of discounted tickets at retailers but not discounted passes. Does any other park do this?

Kings Island 2015 Discussion Thread
I didn't ride Intimidator this visit as we didn't have time. But generally for Carowinds, their "hustle" seems slower than KI for all the rides. They have a decent number of team on the ride, unlike say Michigan's Adventure that has one person on their flyer ride and 2 for their roller coasters. My friend says, things are just slower in the south and there's not a rush.

Your Woodstock Gliders Experience
You may be okay. I don't handle spinning rides well but can easily handle Woodstock Gliders/LEE and Surf Dog/Pipe Scream. It's a very different sensation because of the speed.

Carowinds will be investing $50 million in the next three years!
If you look to the top of the lift hill, you'll see an empty train. I can't add much more to what has already been said about the ride. It was a blast to ride and I can't wait to ride it again in June. It was absolutely worth it to drive 7.5 hours to my friend's home and then head to the park. It was a smart choice as the Sunday forecast called for rain...which it did all day. It has been really interesting to see all the changes to this park during the last few years. Ricochet's paint job is nice! Harmony Hall was interesting as there was a guy filling ziplock bags with two meals that he had grabbed. I can safely say that was a first for me. Otherwise, we saw very little of the park on Saturday night so June will be a much longer visit for me.

The 2015 Media Overreacting to Standard Park Procedures Thread
We must have been there at the same time. I posted this in response to Tr0y on the Kings Island 2015 Discussion Thread: Tr0y, on 19 Apr 2015 - 5:35 PM, said: Apparently Fury325, stranded riders on the lift hill for 20 minutes last night.. The third time in 3 weeks, I thought this coaster wasn't designed by Intamin??? When my friend and I arrived the park last night, an empty train was stopped on the lift hill. We decided to head back to see the entrance of the ride. I was taking a picture of the entrance when my friend started talking to some guy. He said that a train was stuck for 20 minutes with riders. I don't know if they did an evacuation or if it continued with riders as I didn't catch that part. He said that they then ran an empty train and it stopped near the top of the left hill for about 45-mins. The train started moving, a few more trains were dispatched empty and about 15 minutes later, they started letting folks enter the line. It seemed to be fine the remaining hour or so of the evening.

KI preview night, 4/17 (only for passholders who renewed by 11/6)
I'm glad I was able to go tonight. After the week I had, the timing couldn't have been better for some stress-relieving roller coaster riding. Just a few things I noticed. Most people seemed really friendly - even when focused on learning how to use the register or check riders. On my end, giving them a smile, please, and thank you seemed to be appreciated. Flight of Fear was the longest wait of the night for me. One of the trains had the very middle car blocked off as well as the back car. Stood in line for Woodstock Gliders and they seem to move faster than CP's version in that most ride cycles (from getting people in, ride, and getting people out took) was about 5-6 minutes. They seem to slow down faster than CP's version, which is a relief. But, maybe I'm remembering it differently from when I was standing in the hot June/August days vs a cool April evening? There isn't any sort of shade to the queue area and I'm not looking forward to that wait with the kids this summer. With the direction I started in, I didn't see much of International Street until after the sun went down. It looked as though every storefront looked fresh; even the second story windows had attention. Had to make a stop into First Aid because someone didn't break in her new park sandals. I somehow managed to get a ride on Diamondback as the fireworks were starting. That was fun! I was able to end my visit with a very happy surprise. I ran into a college friend and her children as I was leaving. They were heading to get ice cream so we only had time for a quick hello, little kid hugs and high fives, and the funny realization from one of them that I have the same first name as their mom. If the coasters hadn't done it, that sure took care of any remaining cranky pants. Thanks KI for having this preview night! It was such a nice treat!

Kings Island adding two rides and other improvements for 2015
Gah! Curses! I grabbed a map on my way out tonight. Woodstock Gliders: min height is 36" and between 36"-42" must ride with adult. Snoopy's Space Buggies doesn't have a min/max height listed but less than 36" must ride with adult. I hope that helps!

Quick Question: When did KI Introduce Season Passes?
I think I still have some of our season passes from like 1983/1984-1988.

Kings Island adding two rides and other improvements for 2015
I found 36" for both rides on the website. Maybe they just put both rides live on the site? On the mobile site, click on rides, then Planet Snoopy. There will be a list with pictures of all the rides with height requirements. You can then click on each ride for additional info.

You Heard It Here First: Cirque Imagine 2015 Preview
Ahh, that sounds quite fun. I'll be looking forward to reading everyone's thoughts. I'll be in Florida by that point and will just have to wait until I return in June to see it in person.

Kings Island 2015 Discussion Thread
Ahh..my biggest point of driving shame was shifting someone's car into second gear without engaging the clutch. That ended my lesson quite quickly. I can see why folks opt for automatic. Yes, the driver has greater control over the vehicle. But there are deteriants for some. As much as he loved manual transmissions, he was looking to buy an automatic for his next car. Certain medical treatments ravaged muscles that made it painful at times to drive in the city.
