  1. I'll take the "nuisance" of extra security over not enough security 10 times out of 10.
  2. That's about how far away I lived from the park as a teen, but the accountant in me could not justify choosing a minimum wage job with a 40 minute drive over a job that paid a buck or 2 over minimum wage that was less than 10 minutes from home, despite how much more fun working at KI would have been. But as a CPA, managing my own finances was and continues to be an even bigger "thrill".
  3. 1,000 guests in one night? The FIRST 1,000 guests? They sure do expect this thing to be big. It's going to be interesting. Who is this intended for? We all know that DA is more of a "family" attraction, geared towards kids. But Jurassic Park? Is the appropriate on a wide scale for a 5 or 6 year old? Furthermore, would those kids be willing and able to participate in the alleged 10-12a time frame? I guess the conclusion we can draw is that this is intended for older point. Teens and adults. The description is still kind of vague, so anything's possible. Can't wait to check it out. I'd argue that DA itself is NOT geared towards 5 year olds at all, and is in fact geared more toward 7/8/9+ year olds. I think the film is appropriate for the target audience.
  4. I wish I would have lived closer to the park as a youngster growing up. I would have loved to have worked one of the games. I sat down and ate outside the LaRosa's in Rivertown my last visit and cringed at the young man attempting -- and failing for the 45 minutes or so I sat there -- to get a guest, any guest, to play his "guess your weight/age/birth month" game. I know it's a tough sell by its very nature, and the young man seemed very nice, but I think that was the problem. He was too nice and made no attempt to connect with anyone in any way, and as a result was way too easy for everyone to say "no" to. I felt bad for him by the time I got up, almost enough to give him a chance on me. Almost.
  5. Auto-spiel or no spiel, please and thank you.
  6. I think it has something to do with Pokemon, but I'm not entirely sure.
  7. I looked into Cedar Point's but never checked out KI's VIP offering. Wow, KI's is WAY cheaper and actually offers more than CP's does. I'd absolutely consider KI's if I was going on a Saturday or near a holiday.
  8. IMO traffic flow has actually improved substantially since they made the changes, as odd as they may seem.
  9. I wonder why? While the Beechmont/Five Mile intersection gets congested, it's not all that bad. It's about 10% as bad as where Beechmont meets 275. Avoid 32 in either direction near 275 at all costs from about 3:45 - 6:00 PM. Of course if anyone didn't know that by now, then me posting it isn't going to help them because they're probably too dumb to read.
  10. They should build their own water treatment plant to avoid this scenario in the future. Also, they should put a dome over the park with AC and heating so it can be open year round. It would have to be clear though so I can still look out and see Lake Erie. That's a lot of lost revenue for Cedar Fair, made even worse by the fact that it happened on a weekend. Bummer.
  11. That was the first attraction I experienced in any Disney Park. I was 12 at the time and really into thrill rides, so I didn't expect to get too much thrill out of the Disney Parks. Needless to say that expectation went by the wayside almost immediately.
  12. Honolulu is pretty miserable when it comes to traffic as well, easily one of the worst cities in which I've driven.
  13. That stinks, I was hoping to go this Sunday. Maybe I'll just try to get there really early and get through everything as quickly as possible.
  14. As many times as I went to KI as a youngster, I never stepped foot in the Enchanted Theater. I couldn't tell you what it looks like in there, and I can't say that for many areas in the park that the GP has access to.
  15. And this is exactly why the park is trying out the season long and all-day dining plans. I know MANY season pass holders who in the past never spent a dime at the park who are now purchasing the season-long plan because they see it as a good deal. These plans generate revenue for the park off of people who normally wouldn't be buying food.

At KI, Drop Tower and FoF. The anticipation of not knowing "when" really gets me going.
  17. The Demon's logo was awesome IMO. I always liked Vortex's logo as well. The new Bat logo is cool too. Worst logo? Adventure Express. It just says Adventure Express, lol.
  18. I must have missed the crawling on hands and knees one because I don't remember that one! I still prefer Haunt to Fear Fest by a wide margin, simply because it's free with a Gold or Platinum pass, all the rides stay operating, and the theming throughout the park is better. And I personally don't care much about the haunted attractions -- only did one last year, Board to Death, and it was fine, just not my thing -- so the quality of the haunted attractions doesn't influence my preference much.
  19. Crap I even looked in that forum first before I posted. Not sure how I missed it. Sorry 'bout that.
  20. Regardless of how valid the numbers are, it's cool to see that the 2 highest attended seasonal parks in the US are located in Ohio.
  21. There might even be enough room for a Flying Eagles and like an antique car-style ride.
  22. I personally did not enjoy the early years of Fear Fest. Even if you had a season pass, you still had to pay to get in, there were fewer haunted attractions and the ones they had were meh (especially the couple 3D ones they had. The thing at the top of ET was kinda neat though just for the fact that it was at the top of ET), and I think Son of Beast was the only ride open.
  23. Pulled from teaconnect.org http://www.teaconnect.org/pdf/TEAAECOM2013.pdf Some highlights: - Cedar Fair ranked 7th worldwide in the "theme park groups" rankings - Theme park attendance grew in 2013 for the top 20 North American parks in aggregate for the 4th straight year - Kings Island ranked 16th in North America in attendance with 3.206 million guests. Unless I missed one, it looks like this ranks 3rd among seasonal parks only behind Canada's Wonderland (3.582 million) and Cedar Point (3.382 million). - Kings Island's attendance had a "0.0%" increase from 2012 while Cedar Point's attendance increased by 5%.
  24. Practically every family visit as a kid included us getting Rivertown Potato Works with a side of cheese sauce (as well as ketchup, salt and vinegar) and eating it at the tables by Swan Lake. It's sad that I'll never be able to recreate that memory with my own family, but I enjoy Diamondback so that is a decent consolation.
  25. I'd guess much lower than that for both.
