  1. They are trying to squeeze more nickels out of the passholders with meal/drink plans...
  2. So the first sentence you are alluding/stating that the CSO is the cause of the closure and trying to put blame on prior ownership and then the next two sentences you are alluding/stating it was the previous owners that doomed its success?.... As I said in the other thread, it was a stupid PR move to wham, bam in one press release state that Coney was closing and Riverbend on steroids was taking its place. Certainly they had to expect this outcry even if the rides had been gone several years. Sure many of us saw the writing on the wall and many of us are not at all surprised at what has transpired. But there are some that thought it would operate as a pool in perpetuity. Not that it would have mattered to the most die-hard fans, but had they not did the single press release and instead said they were closing and put a for sale sign up and let some time transpire, it might have been a little easier for people to accept its fate. Of course some would still be opposed, but a public announcement that the property was for sale and give those die-hards an actual opportunity to secure funds to purchase the property maybe the negative sentiment wouldn't have been so great. But, as life, it moves on and once they get it up and running they will be selling out the venues...
  3. Prestige passholders saying probably LOL
  4. And would these customers seeking value pay for overpriced alcohol in the new alcohol location in Coney? One can only squeeze so many nickels out of people. I guess CF believes there are a lot of nickels to be squeezed out of passholders that already have meal and drink add-ons....
  5. I doubt they will ever go back to the 1 hour Early Ride Time, but bringing back the evening ERT events would be a nice addition.
  6. I agree, it seems like there could have been a better choice for that building. I still think they should have put Tom+Chee there and put Skyline in the former Chic-fil-A place instead as this past year showed that the park could handle 2 Skylines as the Coney Mall location was way more busier with the other Skyline converted to G&G that rarely had a line. Or the Mac&Cheese would be a great fit. Anything to help spread the dining plan offerings and lines out would have been a good thing. Eliminating a meal plan dining location when they are pushing dining plans seems short-sided. The Mercado behind Enrique's is close enough for those needing to fill their alcohol wants, along with the beer stand in front of The Racer, that as someone said is probably gone now and will probably be converted to a one-time Front of the Line selling point LOL. Instead it seems like they are trying to squeeze more nickels out of the guests already in the park with additional in-park up-charge items.
  7. I suspect they will only be selling the alcoholic variety...
  8. Yep, they will go buy a pass to Coney Island...oh wait. Maybe Entertrainment Junction...oh wait.... I guess we still have the zoo and your fave the Newport Aquarium... The fact of the matter is, and we have said it before, is even with the devaluing of the product, the cost/hr of entertainmnent/food at KI can't be beat. Try to go to a Reds game at the same cost/hr. A round of golf? A game of putt-putt? Sure KI will have some attrition as some will decide to take their money elsewhere, but the bean counters must feel like that loss is less than the loss they would see by increasing the costs to provide a better product and cost out the clientele they have been marketing to for years.
  9. Same. Or long time platinum holders that downgraded to a KI gold pass this year and skipped the all park add-on and put that savings towards Dollywood of KK pass. I suspect we will see/hear more of that happen. The question is will it be enough of a bump that CF takes notice and makes changes or will they continue to devalue the offering?
  10. Based on FB chatter, appears folks are having issues at Carowinds with various passport add-ons.
  11. Come on now, KI offers a VIP lounge experience.... Unlike the drink plans restricted to 15 minutes between, the cooler water is not time restricted
  12. 20 years between posts in a thread - is that a record LOL?
  13. Probably a 0 or -10. But it would make for an interesting session and discussion!
  14. Meanwhile over at KI....
  15. ACE should invite Mr. RACER as an industry speaker and raffle off tickets to ride with him on The Racer.
  16. Right. Many of those that have visited have never known a life without the Junction being around and have all the feelings and emotions @KIghostguyhas. Unfortunately it is owned by a private entity and they can do with it as they please (legally)....just like another cherished place...
  17. For those keeping score - that is two public days and one private party.
  18. So CF is buying some leases LOL
  19. More details in another article: "The iconic front gates and Lake Como by the entrance will stay, said symphony President Jonathan Martin and Mike Smith, president of symphony subsidiary Music and Event Management Inc., known as MEMI. So will the grove along the river where Summerfair and other events have been held. The symphony will consider saving the dance hall Moonlite Gardens, though the price tag of $5.7 million to rehabilitate it after years of sitting vacant would make preserving it difficult, they said. Cincinnati Symphony leadership told The Enquirer they are not to blame for Coney Island's closure. "I think it's important to also understand that we didn't buy Coney Island, the business," Martin said. "Coney Island closed the business, closed the pool, and they sold us the land. We are not going to reopen the pool." https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/symphony-new-music-venue-at-coney-island-will-keep-some-historic-park-features/ar-BB1jA4dA?ocid=msedgntp&pc=U531&cvid=c996cb26769347ffa4ac7422ef1a9d6e&ei=47
  20. This seems to happen a bit down there....
  21. New details https://local12.com/news/local/cincinnati-symphony-orchestra-details-coney-island-music-venue-replace-riverbend-amphitheater-anderson-township
  22. Since the number of attendees is limited, maybe just silently posting on their website like I found it this week without announcing it would be one way to ensure those they want to get registered get registered LOL. (sarcasm....we hope) But I know others saw it because someone mentioned it on the ACE FB page: But the question is why? An issue with KI being able to commit to an itinerary? Is ACE having issues on their end putting this together? Simple mistake on ACE end updating the webpage with a placeholder date?
  23. Oh found a tab I hadn't refreshed yet. This is what it said this week up until this afternoon: And this afternoon it got changed to: So the question is why.....
  24. Grocery store is more of a necessity that needs competition to keep basic food prices lower. Plus up to this point Kroger has purchased many other grocers without having to sell off any because it was not in overlapping/competing markets. This one they have a lot of overlap that would eliminate competition. Amusement parks are a luxury/entertainment industry and still plenty of other competition for your dollar.
  25. This week their website said they went on sale today and then at some point today it changed "Information will be posted soon." I was refreshing it quite a bit today to try to get in and then it changed.
