I don't watch The Walking Dead, but this is pretty cool that KI's doing this!

Just filled it out! I'm curious to see what the results are/will be...

Well, looks like I was one of the last ones to tour the maze under it's old name- woo hoo!!! In all seriousness, it sounds like they'll have to change the... <signal lost> ... <signal regained> ... inside the maze!

How scary is it? Well, it depends. Part of it is what you make it, as mazes are completely voluntary (as Italian Job 2005 said), but at the same time, Scareactors may be out in the scare zones, which frighten those that are unaware. There are 4 scarezones (5 if you count Backwoods Bayou, which I think of a brief, 1-way maze), 3 of which contain Scareactors. Planet Snoopy turns into Freak Street at night. This is my personal favorite, since I worked in there last season (as a Sweep) and have friends there, but I'd say avoid it if you don't like getting scared because there are a lot of scareactors in a small area. Coney Mall becomes Coney Maul, and I'd say this area is the best bet for not getting scared as Coney is huge, plus you can hide in X-Base as they don't go down there. Nightmare Alley (on the way to Action Zone) has no scareactors, but does have a big spider that pops out at you and makes a loud noise, plus The Undertaker (Haunt mascot) 's throne is in that general area. Rivertown has probably the most scareactors for the longest distance, so be prepared to dodge 'em on the way to The Beast. In summery, if you want to lap the park and are trying to avoid the scares, go through Action Zone into Coney. As for the mazes themselves, Carnevil seems to be the least scary (unless you are deathly afraid of clowns) while Bored to Death and Slaugterhouse seem to be on the more intense side of things. I have not done all the mazes and your milage (and scare tolerance) may vary. Personally, I don't enjoy getting scared, but I do like to go and see others get scared, get some great night rides and give some of the mazes a try. If you are choosing between nights, Friday nights are less crowded, but does include the Wall of Monsters (some scareactors hanging out at the entrance before going back to their respective mazes/scare zones) when gates open at 6. However, keep in mind that Saturdays are way more crowded than Fridays, even though there may be a higher chance of you getting scared by someone due to less people. Whichever night you choose, have fun and enjoy your night! PS: If you do end up braving Slaughterhouse, one of our member's alter-egos lurks in the 3rd room...
  5. Well, it is listed as a past coaster on RCDB, so... In all seriousness, I don't know the answer to that question, and I don't think we will until whatever rehab on the ride formally known as Hulk is completed.
  6. Reading through this thread reminded me that the chase scene was not working on Friday night. Also, the head of the ghost with the iPod was doing 360s. And super-random question: why did they remove the scareactor(s) from Boo Blasters, and in what year did they exist?
  7. Hey all, MDMC01 here. I don't usually post Kings Island trip reports on the site, but since it was probably my only time I'll be at Haunt this season, I decided "why not?". So, here it is: After paying for preferred parking (because safety, due to what has happened at other parks…) and putting my stuff in my locker, I decided to go visit Sam in Slaughter House. On the way there, I ran into some of my coworkers and we talked. Once in the maze, Sam was delighted to see me once he recognized me, but all of his other family members were a little too close for comfort as they got really close to me and started following me. One even made a pig noise in my ear, which I thought was sort-of funny. After this, I ran into two other coworkers and went over to Madame Fatale’s Cavern of Terror as I’d never done the maze (well, technically, I’ve done a lights-on tour, but it wasn’t the same). I thought it was really well done and generally interesting and not too scary. After this, I walked around a bit and ended up riding Banshee as the line was really short. I sat in the front and got a face full of rain. The rain was like needles and I had to shut my eyes most of the way. It definitely wasn’t as terrible as Diamondback in the rain, but it still wasn’t pleasant. After that, I was going to ride The Bat, but I asked an associate and he said it was closed. I walked a bit and then noticed it was testing, so I got in line. They were only running one train, and I got an amazing front seat zen ride. After this awesomeness, I decided to text Malem to see where the group was. He replied that they were at Reds Hall of Fame Grille. I walked through Freak Street to meet them there and it seemed a little empty without Big Daddy. I finally met the guys (Malem, Goble, and Silver2005) and we talked a bit and I got a water. After this, we left and started walking down Freak Street. My scareactor friend Shorty approached me and started sniffing me and told me that I smelled good. At first, I didn’t recognize him, but once I did, I thanked him for the compliment (I think he said “you’re welcome” lol) and we went on our way to Boo Blasters. I rode with Goble and let him shoot the targets because as he said “It’s like a game to [him]”. I sat back and relaxed like I usually did and it was a nice break from the cold and rain. Surprisingly, there weren’t that many people in line, unlike the last time I rode. After this, we headed back to The Bat. On the way there, we noticed the enormous line for Blackout, which we guessed because it was new and capacity (as mentioned on here before). I sat in 2-1 with Malem and it was a good ride. In line (which was a station wait), one of the ride ops gave malem a hard time about not wearing a coat, which was entertaining as he pointed out the weather-resistant-ness of his short sleeve athletic shirt. After this, malem and Silver wanted to ride Banshee while Goble and I went into the gift shop and I talked it up with an associate. After this, we headed to Delirium. They said we could sit anywhere on the left side, so I chose a seat facing Festhaus and got one cold, rainy ride. That ride is fun in normal weather and extreme heat, but no bueno in the cold and rain. After that interesting experience, malem, silver and I decided to take on Adventure Express while Goble waited for us at the exit. I sat in the back (second to last seat) and it was really awesome as usual. I liked how the first three tunnels were really dark and the tiki/statue guys actually had their arms moving up and down (well, for the most part…). We then walked into Coney Mall (or should I say, Coney Maul) and they wanted to ride Racer. I sat out and saw one of my friends while waiting for them. After they got off, we went into the $5 store and then I decided to split off. I said my goodbyes and headed down the midway towards Flight of Fear. It was a decent wait, but the line moved fast at times. It was a pretty good ride and again, a nice break from the cold as some of the building was warm. I then decided to do Dodgem on a whim and that was really fun, even though it took a long time for everyone to get loaded in and for the ride to start (there was one false start, and then we were off). After that, I decided to take a walk around the park and ended up doing CarnEvil. The line was the longest I’d waited for a maze (approx. 5-10 minutes), but it was good. It was fun, and only one of the scarectors directly startled me (they clicked this metal thing in my ear). One other part that creeped me out was After that, I felt I had the courage to do my last maze of the night, Delta Delta Die. This one was interesting as it was a completely new experience for me as I’d never walked through it either in previous iterations (Massacre Manor) or even had a lights-on tour. Enjoying that feeling of accomplishment, I came back to where I started and made The Beast my last ride of the night. I ended up meeting the group up there and malem and Goble were going to look for OhioColts in the Festhaus while Silver was in line. I ended up meeting up with Silver2005 and told him about what I’d done when I’d split off from the group. He wanted to wait for the front like he had planned, so I waited with him and got 1-2. It was a great ride, but the second lift went a little faster than usual. The lights on in the helix tunnel were an interesting touch, but Silver wasn’t a fan. After that, we parted ways and I briefly met up with the group before trying to make the midnight showing of Hot Blooded. Unfortunately, it was down due to the weather and I decided to call it a night. It was a great trip and I’m glad I pushed myself to try two new mazes. -MDMC01
  8. The Crypt might have been a ferris wheel, but it was a really cool ferris wheel! Oddly enough, I've never ridden another Top Spin other than Tomb Raider/Crypt.

Asked. Not yet answered.... Helpful Terpy The answer is... Yes. I think it was the last Saturday of Haunt, and the weather was weird (Rainy, I think- enough to close the outdoor mazes), but around 11 o'clockish, there were a group of roamers that were let back into the park. I was shocked, as a lot of fellow scareactors were sent home, but I guess there was a small group who stuck around (or were called back to the front lines) to scare some guests.
  10. Alright, I've held back for long enough, I'll finally give my $.02 on the issue: I think The Bat should go nowhere! It's got a great location in the valley of Action Zone (fka Adventure Village) and it holds a ton of memories for me. I remember how I felt right after the first time I rode it and how my head used to bounce around on the turn into the station when I was shorter. It was my go-to ride back then, and its still one of my favorites. On my most recent trip to the park, I finished my lunch down in that valley, observing how orange steel coaster and green trees collide to make a beautiful view. As mentioned before, I almost feel the same way about The Bat as homestar92 does about Vortex. It's sad that people are saying these things like oh, they're gonna tear it down with the recent repaint as their evidence while citing King Cobra's demise. I guess I don't want to face the music, but someday The Bat may have to go away. I just hope that doesn't happen for a very, very long time. -MDMC, resident Bat fan And regarding Iron Dragon, I think it's a pretty fun ride. Sure Maverick is more thrilling, but Iron Dragon has its own place at Cedar Point, as will Valravn in 2016.
  11. Welcome to KIC! You asked what are the best coasters, and that's a very subjective question as everyone has their own opinion. For me, I'd say Banshee, The Bat, Firehawk, Flight of Fear, The Beast and Adventure Express are "the best". Make sure to hop on Vortex too as its a pretty good ride as well. Also, the overall, the three most popular coasters at the park are Banshee, Diamondback and The Beast. Enjoy your trip!
  12. That would be interesting to see Dorney get a new coaster since their last install was Stinger back in 2012.
  13. This is a great idea, PhantomTheater. I really like the "New-to-me" category because at least 21 rides fit into this category! In fact, I'll think some of these awards will be best "New to me ____". My awards are as follows: Best "new" invert: Great Bear at Hersheypark Best "new-to-me" night ride: WindSeeker at Kings Island, runner up: Comet at Hersheypark Best "new" launch coaster: Storm Runner at Hersheypark Best "icon" coaster (Edge of the Millennium ride): Lightning Racer at Hersheypark Best "new" flat: Meteor at Dorney Park, runner up: Woodstock's Glider's at Kings Island Best "new" Wild Mouse: Wild Mouse at Hersheypark Best Food (new): Chickie and Pete's, Dorney Park Best "new" old-school wooden coaster: Comet at Hersheypark Now for some not-so-new existing awards: Most Improved ride experience: Flight of Fear, Kings Island The Nostalgia Award: The Bat at Kings Island Best show: Cirque Imagine at Kings Island Best Waterslide: Pineapple Pipeline, Kings Island, runner up: Snake Pit- Dorney Park Most-anticipated-for-2016 award: Switchback at ZTD's, runner-up: Superman is back at Six Flags New England The "Don't believe the hype" award: Skyrush, Hersheypark Best park: Hersheypark, runner-up: Kings Island
  14. Looks cool. I can't believe we've come to the age where we now have a shuttle wooden* coaster! *I know it's technically a hybrid, but whatever the classification, it's still cool... I think it's the first shuttle to have a traditional lift and go thru the course like normal before going backwards the way it came (yes, Thirteen and the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars coaster both have significant backwards sections, but not as far as they go back to the station).

Since it's about that time, I thought this flashback intro video was appropriate https://web.archive.org/web/20001110110500/http://www.pki.com/attractions_fearfest.jsp NOTE: The actual site does not work, but this intro video does. It is loud, so make sure to turn the speakers down if you wish.
  16. I'm going to go with The Bat (formally known as Top Gun)... only because I've ridden it 81 times since I started counting back in 2010 and probably loads of times before then. Another close frontrunner would probably be Adventure Express. EDIT: Talking about The Bat at Kings Island.
  17. Valravn looks cool, and a bit longer that I'd previously thought.

Ok, so quoting won't work on my phone... oh well! What I was going to say was if the Sweep who dances is who I think he is, he is truely and amazing dancer. He even beat me in a danceoff on Closing Day!
  19. Ok, gotcha. I just misunderstood the concept of BOGO for a second.
  20. And this is with slightly more expensive deals at KI ($1 soft drinks vs. free soft drinks)... Also, I was searching to find info on if KK's bring a friend day was bring a friend free or not (as KI's was/is not), and I saw an ad for Disney in a advert box that said "Searching for Kentucky Kingdom?" I kid you not...
  21. Dude, I felt withdrawal during the weeks leading up to yesterday's KI trip and I'd been gone from the park from about 2-3 weeks (whenever the last Cirque show was). You got this!
  22. I think I saw him yesterday. He waited just behind me at Auntie Anne's (I-Street location) and also saw the same guy at the Haunt jobs booth in front of the KI Theater.
  23. I got back from the park a little while ago and had a jam-packed day. My day at the park started with a tall (that's a small for those that don't speak the Starbucks language! ) Vanilla Bean Frap and 2 rounds each of Firehawk and Flight of Fear. By the way, did I mention Flight of Fear is running the best it's ever been? Made it to every coaster outside of Planet Snoopy (with the exception of Diamondback) plus Congo Falls, Zephyr, Drop Tower, Boo Blasters and Delirium. I also saw a great show of Off The Charts, met up with Goble for a short time, and ended the day with an epic 4-ride Bat marathon. EDIT: I forgot I also rode Monster. Unfortunately, I didn't get much spin and I think the white "floorboards" under the black exterior bottom might be to blame. These must have been added during the refurbishment. Can anyone enlighten me on this- whether it is this or I just wasn't trying hard enough? Thanks.
  24. Also, I meant to add this to my previous post, but it seems to make more sense to RMC the Roar at Six Flags America than SFDK. I mean, West Coast Roar seemed to be in pretty good condition and RMCing the East Coast Roar may have had a chance at improving Six Flags America's image. Yes, Wicked Cyclone is a few states away while the nearest Cali RMC is Twisted Colossus in SoCal, but I would rather a unique RMC be built at SFDK rather than what already happened (the removal of Roar for Joker). But, what's done is done, and we can't go back now... EDIT: Watched another vid of it and I'm starting to warm up to the idea. At the same time, my above thoughts still ring true.
