I'll be there Tuesday GYK! It's really the only day I have off lol I was spoiled a couple weeks ago when my friend and I didn't wait in line once (leading to 13 rides on Diamondback ). Anyway, we shall see...my thoughts are that people (school groups included) more or less go on the weekends still.

Absolutely. I couldn't have said it better. I've been a lurker on the site for a long time (probably 4 or 5 years), but I finally made a profile and such this year when I knew that a Gold Pass was in my future. I know that I'm still relatively new to the board and most likely a stranger to many of you, but coming to this site is just as nice as hanging out with old friends. I hope to meet up with some of you guys this season so I can share some genuine enthusiasm for the park! Let's make '11 the best Kings Island season yet.

Agreed. The way I see it is that the crew did the best they could despite the unfavorable weather conditions. These things happen...let's not forget that we're still getting a stellar attraction!

Nice to see Vortex getting some testing in Also, it was worth the wait for Webcam 2 to be revived now that we can enjoy some nice Kings Island green canopy to go along with our new addition. I'm getting more and more excited, guys.

I'll never forget riding Delirium just as the fireworks were taking off with the perfect mix of friends, great weather, and an unforgettable atmosphere. I'm going to try getting on Backlot during the night though. Sounds like quite the experience Nothing will ever beat my Beast night rides though...I always come back into the station in a perpetual daze.

Great photos, Paul. In the midst of University midterms, it's always the bright spot in my day I really wish I could have seen the Wild Animal Safari area of the park, as well as Adventure Village before it became the Action Zone. That being said, I really have fond memories of Action Zone, and I always found that it was clever how they tied Son of Beast into that region of the park. SOB really would have been amazing in Rivertown now that I think about it...hm.

I really don't care for that rendering of the park...makes it look rather bland in a way. Hopefully it's a little more spiced up than that when it's finally released. Also, notice how they GREATLY exaggerate The Racer hill, but Diamondback looks like thin licorice? I don't know...maybe I'm being too picky, it's just a map after all.

It's funny you mention The Vortex because it wasn't until last season when I was waiting in line waiting for Diamondback that I started looking really close at the map. I must have just glossed over The Vortex's rendering in the past because the lack of loops and corkscrews is pretty darn obvious lol

Definitely. That's how I felt about FOF, but now I suppose there is no point now...

Amen Terp. I voted Drop Zone (yes, it's still that in my mind) mostly because it's the one ride that I still have a hard time getting on. Ironically enough, I had a much easier time riding it when it first came out in 99' then I do now. Funny how that works... The paintings on the Grand Carousel used to freak me too Specifically the giant gothic looking castle.

Good question. But yes...as fast as that tower has gone up, there is still so much more that needs to be done. Any word yet on the new park map?

Well said. It's a great combination of elements that make for great thrills....fantastic location as far as I'm concerned too. It's going to really change the whole look of Coney Mall forever. Anybody have ideas on what we should expect tomorrow? Maybe piece 4 and 5?

Hahaha, well it wouldn't be a bad way to go, would it? I'm interested in what Gary Wachs would think about the park today...

Man, this is such a bittersweet documentary for me. First off, it's wonderfully made and put together...great interviews and terrific historical footage to go along with it. My only problem is... ...I wasn't there in the early days . EXTREMELY ENVIOUS of those who were. Not only that, but I wish I could have been a part of the original design and building team of the park. Think how exciting it probably was (and nerve-wracking of course) to finish the last touches on the park hours before it's revealed to the masses on opening day.

For me it can really be a mixed bag...on one hand you have the Adventure Express ride operators who look bored out of their minds, which I can understand to a point, but it often reflects in their enthusiasm (or lack thereof), but then you have the crew who run The Beast and i can't tell you how great a job they do at getting riders excited. I've witnessed both on two different occasions under CF. That being said, the park is cleaner...and look no further than what they are doing to Coney Mall. That whole area is been ignored for far too long so it's really nice to see it getting some love. Overall though, I would say they both have/had their pros and cons.
