PKI Park Cleaness
lol The change that is thrown off a que or that is lost during a ride is collected and used for a scholarship fund for the employees, so it goes to a good cause. BTW, employees, the applications for the scholarships came out on the 6th, so try and pick one up if you are going to go to college in the fall as a freshman or if you are already in college.

Whar is the deal with them not racing the racer
CoasterXtreme, it's not "lazy" of the park when they don't race The Racer when there just isn't enough people to work both sides... it's just a case of numbers; who is trained to run the ride, how many people are there to run it, what ride should they shut down to race The Racer (if the employees running those other rides are trained in The Racer) and many other things... Like I said before, it's written down and posted in a lot of places that certain rides may not be operating or will open late... The Racer is actually two rides, not one, remember.

I have a book signing on 6/7.
Thank you! The pleasure was all mine! I really enjoyed meeting with you and wish I could have stayed longer. The book is great! I've managed to read a few pages of it already, but it's been a busy day so I won't be able to finish it till tomorrow. Getting the book and having you sign it was a great birthday gift! Again, thank you very much and hopefully they will have another signing at the park (on a day I work) so I'll be able to meet you again. I hope the pictures look great, maybe I'll see them posted on the site? Thanks again!!

Is recaR open?
Yeah, this forum should be closed... No employee in the forum can say wheather or not a ride will be opened on a certain day. There is always a stipulation that rides may not be opened on time or at all during operating hours... it's posted at the front gate and is in the small print on the ticket and it's in the map. There are many reason why a ride would be closed, but no one knows that till 10am on any given day...

Late Ticket Prices
You are correct about the price dropping, and I belive there are actually two drops during the evening hours... call the number that was posted and they will be able to help you out some more, or look at the signs posted on the ticket booths right after you get through the metal detectors, it will be posted there.

Whar is the deal with them not racing the racer
Actually the big reason they don't race The Racer is b/c of staff... during the operating hours so far we still have a lot of staff in school and don't have enough to run both sides. Hopefully you will see alot more "racing" from The Racer starting now. We do our best to keep them Racing. Of course, if you have read the other posts in the forum, you can find many reason why they don't race if both sides are opened.

PKI Park Cleaness
The park is very clean this year! It's been a big complaint in the past, but we have a great pan and broom crew this year and the rest of ecology is on the ball! What would help out a lot is if the guest would actually use the trash cans instead of leaving their trays on the tables so things blow away... and you know you could put your butts in the garbage can as well instead of on the ground... and you could help by picking up that napkin as you walk by... BTW, pki 2005, you say " I rate it a 7 i come with black stuff on my legs ". I take that to mean that you yourself are coming with black stuff on your legs... which would mean the park isn't dirty. To take it the way it sounds like you would want me to take it...I've never had that problem. The only way that would happen is by riding the coasters, that would be the only way to leave that park with black stuff on your legs. I've never heard anyone complain about that and I've never seen anyone get off of a coaster dirty. So, if it happens to you, tell the ride op so they can clean that car!

How busy on 7/04
All of Rivertown will be closed, as well as the top of the Street to behind the tower (including the Carosel) and the top part of Coney mall... all of this is b/c of where the fireworks are shot from and where they can fall too. Top part of Coney and Rivertown should reopen after the fireworks but will limited rides. All of that is subject to change, but that is how they did it last year... at least I'm pretty sure they blocked off the top of Coney, at least where the brick path is at and by Dogems so you can't get to the Floral Clock, although I keep thinking they block everything from Lucky Stricker back...?

I have a book signing on 6/7.
Thanks for the recommendations! I'll be sure to try one (or both?) tomorrow. Still crossing my fingers for the book signing...

Red Shirt Day (Gay Day)
*sigh* If I see someone groping that's too far. Public sex is too far. That is when I would step in and ask a guest not to do it. We can argue all we want about the park being a family park, but then you might as well ban all kissing, holding hands, hugging, drinking, get rid of the water park b/c someone might be too fat, too thin, showing more than they should even with a swimsuit on, get rid of smoking, all music in the park b/c it might offend someone, all concerts b/c they might offend someone... Where do you draw a line?

WWC or CF
WWC is great, the airtime on CF hurts some people... little kids can get the breath knocked out of them and usually first aid is called to make sure they are okay. Maybe they can add (optional) seatbelts to the ride so that kids can buckle up and advoid that? As of short cuts, ask security, they know a bunch! Employees, watch what you say about them, I don't want to see guests going through the woods or anything... we would have to do something with them if they did...

Red Shirt Day (Gay Day)
My two cents: Personally gay day is a great day to work, the guets are excellent and a lot of fun and there are usually no problems whatsoever. The drag show in the Festahus is also pretty amuesming. As of public affection, go for it. The park will not stop anyone from doing anything unless it gets out of hand... we know what to look for and when to tell people to stop, but we will not stop a gay couple from kissing just b/c you aren't comfortable with it. Since the park is a public place, you have to deal with what you see. It would be like going through the store with your kids and seeing a same sex couple kissing. At least in the park you have 300+ acres to move around in. As a last FYI, the attendance projections for the park on Saturday are pretty high, so it will probably be pretty busy. Have fun and enjoy the park!

I have a book signing on 6/7.
Actually, italianchef, I'm going to Olive Garden on Friday for dinner with my family and friends and I look forward to a good wine with my dinner. Any recommendations? The graduation starts at 3 and is downtown so I will see about stopping in early to be the first in line so I can leave right from the mall and go to the graduation... I'll be sure to introduce myself if I do go!

Today at PKI (june 4, 2003)
What is the attraction to a ride like WWC or CF when it's 40 degrees outside? I mean, we must have a deal with the doctors in the area to keep these rides open so that they can have more sick kids! Geezs... WW was closed today, so should the water rides in the park! Besides, the employees for those rides can help out somewhere else.

How busy on 7/04
Well, if you want to just see the fireworks, go to a movie across the street that will end before the fireworks start and then watch them from the parking lot. Of course, you probably won't be able to see the Tower from there, but you should be able to see most of the fireworks. The down side would be trying to leave after it is all done. There are other places around Mason where you can see the Tower and the skies above the park without being anywhere near the park to see the fireworks.

BAFFD June 6th
With good weather, it will be packed! Last year for the last BAFFD they were parking people in our baseball field down by Columbia Road! Long ride lines, like 4 hours for some rides, long lines for food, long lines for restrooms... it was a very bad day!

What is this for?
lol Sorry, I should have posted something before the statute went up. It was great seeing all the posts though! Someone asked about the general public being in on the annoucements... unless you are on the inside and know when the announcement will be made, the general public won't know about it. Sometimes the park waits till the last minute to contact the news people about it as well to limit leaks... and let me tell you, this year they have been very tight lipped about anything new.

Smoking / Family-Friendly
I never had problems asking people to put out smokes while in uniform... but I do know guests hate to listen to other guests when they are asked to do something like that. Oh well... I do have complaints that it (no smoking) isn't posted anywhere in the line. Well duh... read the ticket, read the signs coming into the park, read the map, and use common sense! Do we have to constenly remind people oh how to act? Most people don't read anything given to them anyway, it's like the check their brains outside the metal detectors.

May 28
I'm taking the entire weekend off anyway, so BAFFD won't be my problem! I just wanted to make sure that it was Friday... glad I was right, I've been telling everyone Friday. If the weather is nice it will probably be a pretty busy day! I think this is the last BAFFD of the season...? Don't forget Waterworks in included in the park admission! It should open up at 11am, weather permiting. GP holders ONLY (not your guests!) are allowed in at 10:30 through the GP Gate from the WW parking lot. Have fun, it's been really slow in WW so far, just too darn cold! So cold, in fact, we've been waiting for snow! At least it's supposed to be in the 80's mid week.

Smoking / Family-Friendly
Hmm... it really bothers me that people would drink in a line (beer at least). First off the beer is not supposed to be taken off the patios or out of the buildings where it is sold at. The ride ops are supposed to call security if they see someone drinking in the line so that we can take care of it. The ride ops also have a responsiblity to not let someone ride if they think they are too drunk to do so. Odds are Security would be call in for that as well, but the ride op does not have to let someone ride if they feel that person will be unsafe on the ride. If you see someone drinking in the line, try and get a hold of a ride op. I know it's going to be really hard to so until you get to a station and that the person drinking will probably be done by then, but if not, try and get a hold of someone. Employees use the exits all the time, watch for them or Security to come up the exits and hollar at them to let them know.

Um... I thought that BAFFD was on June 6th (Friday)? At least that is what I was told and what I saw on the GP calendar. *shrug*

5/17 report
Something that wasn't supposed to be said on the forum... employees aren't allowed to post certain things about their jobs that they see/hear and know.

3/31 Visit
The character breakfast was really nice, they had a red carpet out in front of Festhaus and they had ballon arches and some other cool decorations. The food smelled great too! I wished I would have been able to have some! The rain didn't keep a lot of people away, in fact they opened up HB and Nick early so that the people could finish with the breakfast and move them to HB so more people could come in. It was an interesting day!

Highest score on Scooby Doo
My first time riding I got a score of 2010. I was happy! The gun isn't really using a laser... it's some sort of LED that works like as like a laser... I'm confused by this but that is what the Tech people said that were working on the ride the other day and that's what a managment person said when a guest asked about the lasers and her kid's eyes incase they pointed it at themselves.
