Walt Disney World Resort announces "Frozen" ride for EPCOT
Just like every other Disney movie ever, right?

Walt Disney World Resort announces "Frozen" ride for EPCOT
I'm hopefully optimistic. The Gran Fiesta Tour at the Mexico pavilion shows that a World Showcase attraction featuring Disney characters can be done well. However, if I'm understanding the linked blog post correctly, this will be less of a "Disney characters experience culture of relevant pavilion" and more "pavilion just so happens to be setting of Disney movie; here's a ride that should really go in Fantasyland." Also, I seriously wonder whether or not the whole Frozen phenomenon still has enough momentum to still be considerably large by the time this attraction opens.

Watch the Golden Ticket Awards Live
Honestly, I'm ecstatic that Banshee didn't win Best New Ride, and here's why: way back on Media Day in April, I distinctly remember the Banshee FunTVs running one of their trivia games that asked what the best new ride for 2014 was going to be and all of the four options being Banshee. Needless to say, it really rubbed me the wrong way. Also glad to see Cedar Point isn't Best Amusement Park any longer, the Voyage is continuing its descent down the Top Wooden Coasters list, and Ravine Flyer II is still sitting pretty at #6.

Cannibal : NEW at Lagoon in 2015
A vertical lift over 200 feet? Wow.

Are stand ups a dying breed?
The only two stand-ups I've ever ridden are SkyRider and Mantis. I liked SkyRider. I didn't like Mantis. Both are going to close. I don't think it can be objectively argued that stand-ups are not a dying breed. Comparing the number of stand-ups built over the past 15 years to the number torn down in that same time period is enough to tell you that. That being said, I don't think they'll disappear entirely any time soon. EDIT: Has anyone here really stopped to think how confused the next generation of coaster enthusiasts is going to be looking at 1990s and 2000s Cedar Point footage if Mantis is converted into a floorless? If I found something like that out, it'd blow my mind.

Tony Clark: "major announcement on 9/2 at high noon"
I'm well aware that there is a cost factor involved in Six Flags' strategy here, but in my completely unreasonable and romanticized view of things, that's no justification.

Tony Clark: "major announcement on 9/2 at high noon"
I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you're going to close a wooden roller coaster for future expansion, at least have the decency to tear the whole thing down and build something entirely new in its place. The way I see it, the Six Flags method of closing woodies and then desecrating their corpses is highly morally reprehensible. Are these RMC "cyborgs" objectively good rides? Probably, but I just can't get past the fact that they were - and still could be - something completely different (and a lot more in line with the designers' original intention.)

Tony Clark: "major announcement on 9/2 at high noon"
Perhaps this is only my opinion, but retrofitting an existing structure with new RMC track does not a truly "new" coaster make, despite what the endless stream of RMC propaganda courtesy of Six Flags would like to have me believe, so I don't think an RMC'd Mean Streak would be nearly as well received. To be honest, if they were to do something with RMC (which I hope they don't,) I'd rather they just tear the whole thing down and build a new one in its place, although I sincerely doubt that will happen any time soon.

SIX 2O15
Hold up - multiple Six Flags parks are possibly/probably installing Super Loops/Rings of Fire/Fireballs/Giant Loops? Really? Never thought I'd see the day that a major park chain installs a "white trash carny ride" at multiple parks. http://www.domainofdeath3.com/whitetrashcarnierides/ring-of-fire

SIX 2O15
I'm confused, primarily because of the use of a capital "o" instead of a zero in the topic's title. Intentional, no doubt.

Six Flags New England's Cyclone Closing
The more time goes on, the more I detest what Six Flags is doing to their wooden coasters. I mean, if you're going to close a wooden coaster, at least have the decency to build something entirely new in its place. And when I say "build something entirely new," I don't mean "build something with the word 'new' in the title."

Hersheypark 2015: LAFF TRAKK (New Coaster)
I wonder if any Technicolor pachyderms will be involved.

S&S 4D Free Spin coming to a major Amusement Park in 2015!
How could we not be sure.... See, that's the type of attitude that gets people into trouble. I don't like making concrete, definitive statements about which park is getting what until the park itself confirms it, because if I'm wrong I look like a fool and if I'm right, everybody's going to be too excited about the new attraction to care. He who never makes predictions is never wrong.

S&S 4D Free Spin coming to a major Amusement Park in 2015!
Part of me wants it to go to Carowinds just to spite all of those smug enthusiasts who are so sure they're getting a giga.

Disney purchases Lucas Films for $4 billion
I'm all for an expansion of the presence of Star Wars at Walt Disney World, if it's mostly confined to Hollywood Studios. As for the Disneyland Resort, where in the world could the presence of Star Wars be significantly expanded? Tomorrowland? I'd certainly hope not. Either way, I can rest easy knowing that, considering Disney is involved, announced plans are subject to change drastically, and that's not always a bad thing. After all, I don't know very many people who would have taken three meet-and-greet locations over the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Canada's Wonderland
What a pity. I legitimately enjoyed SkyRider when I rode it; much more so than every other single stand-up coaster I had ever been on. It's sad, but life goes on. (Just not for SkyRider.)

Whats up with Shake Rattle and Roll
I always thought that SR&R would be so much more entertaining if the ride platform was painted to look like a clock and the name was changed accordingly.

Disney Fastpass+ at Walt Disney World
Apologies for the two posts in quick succession, but I have a few bones to pick with goodyellowkorn182's earlier post about WDW's MM+ system not working at Disneyland. If the annual passholder crowd really does constitute a large portion of Disneyland guests, and none of them select FastPass+ selections months in advance, by the time they actually get to the park, there will still be open FastPass+ slots which can be reserved just as easily as getting a FastPass is now. That is considerably less of an issue at a two park resort. Besides, one can schedule FastPass+ reservations the day of at a different park once all FastPass+ reservations have been utilized at one park. There is such a thing as leaving a Magic Band in a glove compartment or opting for an RFID card instead. I fail to see how it would never work at Disneyland considering it works at the Magic Kingdom. I'm not saying that the MyMagic+ system should ruthlessly be implemented everywhere with absolutely no changes, but the system is in fact more functional than a lot of people give it credit for.

Disney Fastpass+ at Walt Disney World
You know what? I like MyMagic+. Really, I do. I'm not going to stand here and say that MyMagic+ drastically improves my day at the Magic Kingdom and I'd be lost without it. It doesn't, and I wouldn't be. But the bottom line is this: for me, who would rather spend a day at Magic Kingdom than anywhere else in the world, it absolutely facilitates having a more relaxed - dare I say better - day at the park.

Whats up with Shake Rattle and Roll
I sincerely doubt that Shake Rattle & Roll is going to be permanently removed. Even if it was to be permanently removed, I would expect a new flat to be put there by 2015. I mean, Three Point Challenge is only about thirty yards away, so there is absolutely no way that we could lose another flat ride to a basketball game, right? Right?

Thunderbird has launched!
Has anybody made a joke about having fun, fun, fun, 'til her daddy takes the T-Bird away yet? If not, I just did. Edit: Yup, it appears as though my mind's not quick enough to come up with that joke first.

Least favorite thrill coasters.
Of the rides I've ridden, the answer is Firehawk by far. That being said, I've never ridden Invertigo because prior experience leads me to believe it likely has no redeeming qualities.

Cedar Point wood coaster 2015 or 2016?
Yeah. I doubt this means anything at all. On a side note, I don't really understand why everybody seems to want their home park to install one of these new RMC doohickeys. To me, it just seems blasphemous to modify wooden roller coasters into these weird hybrids. I sincerely hope the whole thing is just a fad. And don't get me started on how apparently the classification of these coasters is based not on the obvious fact that they're hybrids but instead on a certain chain's desire to have record breaking "wooden" coasters. EDIT: Upon further research, there is in fact a difference between RMC's Topper Track and I-Box Track, which I thought were synonymous terms. That being said, I still think Topper Tracked coasters should be considered some degree of hybrids.

New Haunt attraction near The Beast this year?
When has the park ever teased the construction of a building for Haunt? Granted, it was never really possible before the social media boom of a few years ago, but the assumption that this will be anything Haunt related is just that - an assumption.

Disney Fastpass+ at Walt Disney World
Having not read this entire topic, just allow me to say this: I like FastPass+. There. Shoot me. That being said, I've been to WDW enough to where it's really not a big deal if I have to wait in line, or skip any particular attraction.
