  1. Lots of cynicism here, but most of it seems to come from what I refer to as "stock spieling". So to speak, basic spiels that feature no creativity or real point to them other than to prevent silence. I don't like stock spieling. It's repetitive, and as mentioned prior, a bit annoying. This is especially true if you visit often and hear the same things over and over. Spieling shouldn't be sarcastic (unless it's being performed properly, as an obvious joke), repetitive, or annoying. Spiels should instead be engaging, memorable, and useful. Gauge those waiting in line before spouting off some boilerplate joke, and know what you're there to do. Only make jokes if you know they work, and keep safety at the highest of priorities. Perhaps it's just bias speaking, but those I know who operate rides who have a genuine passion and enjoyment for what they're doing seem to understand this. However, a lot of these guidelines seem to be lost.
  2. This article would not have been written had the two incidents at FOF not occurred.
  3. How dare they! EDIT: Sarcasm here. This is hardly relevant to the situation.
  4. This is a bit late, but I've been busy and hadn't been able to do it earlier. For anyone interested, I did a commentary of sorts regarding some tidbits as to how this was made.
  5. Now that Scream Like a Banshee is complete, I'm excited to announce that my next project will be an in-depth documentary about this giant noodle.
  6. I appreciate the post for this. Thanks for sharing! That's actually from Devin Olson, a guy whose videos gave me a lot of inspiration to make this. His work is awesome.
  7. Thank you everyone for the comments! Again, it's far from perfect, but I'm still pretty happy with how it turned out. Your comments mean a lot. They keep me going when certain goals seem difficult or otherwise unattainable. Discouragement doesn't last long when I read these. I really, really do appreciate them.
  8. Hello there, I haven't been around KIC for a good while now, but that doesn't mean I still don't keep up with the park. Kings Island is a place I've known very well for a good portion of my life thus far, so needless to say, I was excited as pretty much everyone else when Banshee opened to the public this past weekend. As a final project in my digital field production course for class, I was prompted to create a short documentary. And at this point in the year, why not create a short documentary about Banshee? I would like to share it with everyone here. It's titled "Scream Like a Banshee". It’s not perfect by any means, but I think it effectively demonstrates the pride behind the ride and the excitement for its opening. If you like it, if you don’t mind sharing it, that’d be great. Thank you to everyone involved in making it. YouTube Link: Vimeo Link: https://vimeo.com/92536088 Enjoy the video, and here's to a great 2014 operating season!
  9. lol guys cryptic posts EDIT: someone will make a crypt pun omg lol
  10. I hate ride ops. Especially those of the Zephyr variety.
  11. Son of Beast's history, visualized.
  12. Anyone who puts an apostrophe in Kings Island should be put in prison without parole.
  13. Most employees would (should) have no problem with this, whether that be at Kings Island or anywhere else. It's an employees job (especially at Kings Island) to make sure you're having a wonderful time on not only the rides but to also make sure they provide excellent guest service, safely of course. That being said no employee should have a problem talking with any guest, as long as you're not distracting them they'll not hesitate to ask you how your day is and answer some questions.Interacting with guests is something most amusement parks stress to their employees, it's a huge part of their job. Oops.
  14. Without the flag or giant "TEXAS", of course.

I'm not one to always post legitimately here in regard to the park. However, a recent image posted by TOPGUN1993 inspired me to post this. I want to bring attention to be one of the more under-appreciated pieces of Kings Island history; the Outer Hanks building. Bask in its glory. It's just kind of "there", y'know? Sitting in the middle of the park, not grabbing much attention from anyone. Given its location directly in front of the "entryway" to the largest area in the park, I understand why this is true. I dunno, its theme and detail seems, to me at least, unique. I feel it's a building that more people should come to appreciate. It's utilized for a distinct purpose, but if you can look beyond that, there's some really great stuff. It's situated in a unique location, right on a pond. Not many buildings in the park can say that. On top of that, its theme is both fitting and well-placed. The food is actually rather decent, too. The new taco stand has become my favorite public food location. Stuff's good. I understand that this is kind of an odd post, but what do you guys think?
