This switch definitely sucks, but isn't exactly surprising coming from the same park and company who made the tacky decision to put a fidget spinner stand in Coney Mall. KI, and Cedar Fair parks in general, are slowly beginning to cater only to the lowest common denominator.

I don't care about anonymity or anything so I'll give my short take. Back in 2012, I worked at Racer and Zephyr. I was 17 at the time, fresh outta high school and just buying time during the Summer months before starting college. I did the sorts of spiels that are being complained about here, and 5 years later, I think it is the most obnoxious thing in the world. I even sorta kinda regret doing them because now, I have the experience of going to the park years later and seeing everyone do the same stuff, and seeing firsthand how unpleasant it is. Nobody is dissing you, the jokes and quips really don't represent the park (or hell, even you as an employee) very well. As an added bonus, they aren't clever or funny in any capacity. You can guest relate without making lame jokes about being at the wrong park or the wrong ride. Compliment someone's shirt, have a short discussion with someone on your crew before a train gets back from its cycle. If it's a flat ride, just let people enjoy their ride during the cycle. (I don't even like riding Zephyr anymore because there's a blaring speaker asking people to scream or recite years-old commercial jingles every 3 cycles.) Do anything, really. So long as it doesn't reflect the park in a bad light, annoy anyone, or even more importantly, interfere with your real job -- making sure nobody gets hurt on the ride you're working. Get through the day by doing your job correctly and making someone's experience at the park a pleasant and safe one, not by trying your best to be a comedian.

That center vine has got to go. Though if you zoom in, it almost looks as if the sign is split into two panels and the vines are running along the border. Still no better, but it might explain why it's there. The photo on Instagram also appears to have a bit of light shining through the vine as if there's a split between the wood.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t really read through everyone else’s answers to gain context on what may or may not be discussed, but I’ll give my honest answer to the question posed in the title of this thread since I'm sure other people interested in employment at KI will find this post. I only worked at the park for 1 season on a coaster, but I have many friends who are either still there or have recently left, and from what I can gather, the experience has essentially stayed the same. In sum, it was basically a hodgepodge of both the good and the bad. Even though my experience was in the rides department, I think a lot of what I learned can be applied to most, if not all of the departments at the park. You are working with the public, and I think it’s important that you understand what that means. It’s very likely you will directly deal with irate guests about issues you don’t necessarily see as issues. If you can’t handle that pressure (you may be yelled at sometimes), I wouldn’t necessarily recommend Kings Island as a place of employment. If you are timid, have a short fuse, or cannot adequately remain professional, it’s not a good fit. Maybe this isn’t the most delicate way to put it, but you have to know how to take crap from people and direct any strong emotions toward fixing the problem you’re being faced with. I saw many fellow associates get angry at guests, and they were then either given a stern talking to, or fired. Secondly, please please PLEASE show effort in whatever position you are given. In the rides department, especially, this was a big deal. But I think the same can be said of anywhere else. Even on your worst day, you need to be able to pick yourself up and do what you’re supposed to. Lastly, try your best to avoid the drama that can very often rear its ugly head in the park amongst employees. Know that you’re there to do a job, and keep your gossip to an absolute minimum. Preferably zero. The park, at least when I was there, was a drama powerhouse. Constant rumors, gossip, and back-talking. This sounds cliche, but it’s a good rule of thumb to follow the golden rule. I would assume other employees and management would prefer that the workplace remain a workplace, and not a high school cafeteria. I stayed out of it, and I think my experience was all the better for doing so. A lot of this sounds negative, but I am glad I worked in the park, even if it was just for a short while. It genuinely strengthened my work ethic, got me out of the house, and perhaps above all, introduced me to some of the best friends I’ve got, ones I still see very regularly and visit places with. And I met them 5 years ago. When they said in orientation that you build strong friendships, I was apprehensive. But I was proven wrong. Good luck.

Worst production value for a coaster reveal I've ever seen. Horrible. Between this, the website, and some of the other posts made by the park's social media, it really is next to impossible to take this park seriously. I mean, come on. Couldn't even afford to use NoLimits 2? It at least looks nice. And at an acceptable frame rate, no less.

Don't post here much. But I'm at the park right now and it cannot be understated just how bad the ride crews are here.

This is my short documentary for Holiday World's 2015 attraction, Thunderbird, the nation's first launched wing coaster and the park's first major steel coaster. I tried to take some cues from the comments of my last documentary. This one's shorter, simpler, and sweeter. After just under a week of editing and prepping, here's the final product. Why hello there, KIC. It's me again. For some of you, after this upcoming weekend of riding those shiny new Larson flying scooters at Kings Island, you'll find yourselves riding the world's first launched wing rider. For those of you in that boat, I've a favor to ask of you should you be interested. Last year I produced a documentary for Banshee, which for the sake of a shameless plug, can be found here: I'm following that documentary up with a new one. And while I rode Fury 325 last weekend (as you should too), making a documentary for it just didn't fit the bill. That's when I noticed the upcoming media day event for Thunderbird at Holiday World. And wouldn't ya know it, this seems like a great opportunity. It's called Wings of Steel, and covers different aspects of the ride such as it being the park's first major steel coaster and the nation's first launched wing coaster.
