  1. They do not allow you to spend the night in the parking lot. Security or police would come chase you out, probably shortly after season pass processing closes.
  2. I'm aiming for two. One as soon as we can get in line for the ERT, and then possibly one immediately after, unless the line is over 2 hours. If it is, we'll go back out into the park and see how the line looks for the rest of the day. I'm really hoping to get two rides. I'm still debating about whether I want to jump into the auction or not.
  3. Honestly though, there was very little traffic in the mornings. Those that came in just browsed, it was rare that we had any sales before 10 a.m. They probably looked at how much was being spent in each store during that extra hour and compared it to the extra labor, and decided it wasn't worth it. Now, at closing however, we were always swamped. We were ringing sales up until security started chasing people out!
  4. You got my point perfectly. I'm also hoping for a slightly rainy day that will keep a lot of the non-enthusiast crowd away.
  5. That's dramatically changed from twelve hours before, when it was calling for a 10% chance of rain. I'd call it a 50/50 chance that it will be raining on opening day, but I will believe that it is going to be in the 60's for temperature.
  6. That was the worst part about working in the Emporium. First set of stores to open in the morning and last set to close. If you worked opening shift you had to be there before 8 a.m. to get the store ready to open at 9. I remember having to be at work at 7 a.m. a couple days when we were changing window displays, and other days working well past midnight while they cleared I-street.
  7. They should have signs. They did last year at Cedar Point. You go through the normal gate and then follow the signs to wherever they're letting people through. I'm guessing it will be the formerly blocked path behind the Eiffel Tower.
  8. 8 days out and a change in the weather forecast. Weather.com now shows a high of 62° and a low of 42° and mostly sunny with a chance of precipitation of only 10%. Expect a packed park if that forecast holds out.
  9. I'm willing to risk it on May 1st. If the lines are too long, I'll just leave, but I wouldn't mind spending at least a little time with friends. So put me down for both days.
  10. HMMM are you recommending that we go to youtube and look at point of views that are clearly taking without park's permission which is a mistaminor? I don't think we should be supporting that kind of thing here. If you search for "official POV" you will find a plethora of mounted-camera official POVs for just about every coaster out there. To me, those are the only ones worth watching anyway because then you don't have to listen to stupid comments and deal with the person trying to shoot the POV not being able to hold their camera still, resulting in seeing more ground and sky than actual ride. Here is the official mounted-camera POV that was released by the park.
  11. Opening day is now within the 10-day forecast range, which is usually fairly close (though I've seen up to a 10° change before). Weather Channel is currently calling for a high of 64° and a low of 44° with scattered showers. Chance of precipitation is 30%. The previous two days will be sunny but slightly colder. I'm hoping for cloudy and/or rainy but low winds.
  12. It's been stated before at various times, plus you can see it on the webcam. Pretty much all new 'big' attractions get test seats now a days, because the parks don't like making anyone take the walk of shame anymore than anyone likes taking it. Their entire goal is to make every customer have a great experience, and a walk of shame is not included in that. I'm a pretty big girl (5'6" and 210 lbs) and I have not had a problem fitting on any rides yet, but CCMR was way more snug than I'd have liked. I think I've gained like 5 lbs since my last trip to Cedar Point, though. I'm trying to get back down to 200 before opening day or maybe lower.
  13. I had a dream that I met Terpy at the park but he was kind of like Wilson from Home Improvement and was always somehow hiding the lower half of his face.
  14. There are other giga coasters but the only one I can think of us Steel Dragon 2000 in Japan. It took away MF's record for height very shortly after MF opened. Posted from my BlackBerry mobile device.
  15. Thanks for the details Captain Picard. This is great news. I'm definitely going to be there early!
  16. Diamondback and Millennium Force will be two very different beasts. Millie is an Intamin and Diamondback is a B&M so they will give very different ride experiences. Diamondback will be more closely related to Behemoth or Goliath. I've ridding Goliath and it was a very different ride than Millie. Millie is all about force and speed, Goliath was all about air time. Diamondback will probably be similar.
  17. That looks fantastic! What a great find. Not to mention how awesome it is that your wife got it for you. She knows you well! Posted from my BlackBerry mobile device.
  18. So how do they un-valley it once it gets there?
  19. When I went down Sydney Sidewinder last year, something about the way the raft hit the water in the splash pool tipped me backwards and it dumped me into the splash pool completely upside down. I was really disoriented and scared out of my wits for a few seconds while I figured out which way was up and the lifeguard was there helping me when I surfaced. It could have been very bad - if I'd hit my head on the bottom of the splash pool or the slide, for instance, but would that have been the park's fault? So long as the lifeguard did her job (which she did), there's nothing more the park could do. But yeah, the entire point to that story was in response to Ashers - don't feel bad, you aren't the only one that's had an incident on a slide that no one really could have prevented. And in response to having trouble seeing in the fog - my husband is a flashlight addict and always has a flashlight in his pocket wherever he goes. It proved very helpful when walking through some of the darker areas (especially on the path from the train into the haunted attraction) that were hard to see in the fog. I've used my cell phone to provide light on the path as well.
  20. That just made me laugh so hard.
  21. I knew I wasn't crazy. I was thinking that I could have sworn it used to have jungle noises on the first lift hill. Monkeys and birds in particular.
  22. I'm sure if a lawyer would have been around they would have been handing the lady a business card telling her to call! In town here they hand out business cards at the scene of traffic accidents, it's sad! After my sister-in-law and I were in a car accident, we got direct mailings from at least 5 different lawyers offering to take our case. Same after my husband's accident. We did end up suing after my husband's but only because the insurance company refused to pay us a dime. I did my research and chose a lawyer that wasn't one of the shady ambulance chaser types, and he turned out to be amazing.
  23. I was at Kings Island on the last day of Haunt when a lady fell and broke her ankle on the train's haunted attraction. I don't know if she sued, but listening to her talk about it while sitting in the first aid station, she blamed herself for falling on the path rather than the park for putting the fog out. I had a fog-induced panic attack at the park (which is why I was in the first aid station) and think they way overuse the fog machines to the point they can be dangerous (I was having a very hard time breathing and it led to a panic attack) but I personally wouldn't sue the park over it. I knew going into it that the fog machines would be on and it would be thick and hard to see through. You can see the fog from outside the park, so you know there's going to be a lot of it. The biggest thing I'm going to do is wear a dust-type mask next year to cut down on how much of it I breathe in while walking the midways, because sometimes the best course of action is to protect yourself rather than placing the blame afterward. This especially holds true at Cedar Point where the fog was confined to one area of the park, with a lot of warning signs before you got to it. If you thought were going to have a problem with the amount of fog used, you could go around it easily.
  24. Coney is definitely on a must-do list for me. I've never been there, or Stricker's Grove, and I really feel like I'm missing out. I'm going to be hitting most of those parks in one fell swoop - my brother lives just outside D.C. so I'm using his place as a starting point for the Virginia/Maryland/New Jersey parks, then possibly hitting Lakemont & DelGrosso's on the way home, since I'll be passing within a 30 minute detour of them. So I'll be hitting between 5 and 7 new parks within a little over a week.
