  1. Paula is EVERYWHERE! Whether that be in the kitchen at Kringle's, at the Timberliner car, in the Voyage station, or EVEN sweeping up trash outside the entrance (yes, I really saw her doing that). Thanks to the fantastic workers at HW for an unforgettable event. Nice meeting and seeing ALL of you: Jesse, Keith, Adam, Ryan, Angie, Jackson, Nick, it goes on and on. EDIT: I meant Pat. I get those names mixed up so often!
  2. I disagree. If you ride in the front (which I do on all floorless coasters), It's not bad. No worse than Dominator, IMO. Just wondering, why is it you enjoy rough woodies (Psyclone, Georgia Cyclone) but dislike rough steel coasters?
  3. Oh c'mon, it's not THAT bad!
  4. What if it was a Vekoma and in Rivertown? Just asking No thanks. In terms of steel, I can usually only deal with B&M's and Intamin's. . Can I ask how you can call yourself a coaster enthusiast when you only like steel coasters made by two manufacturers?
  5. Did anyone expect them to NOT extend the deadline?
  6. My personal favorites are 1. Maverick (front) 2-3. Tie Raptor (front or back)/ Magnum (near the front, middle of a car) But Top Thrill Dragster and Millennium Force can't be missed for obvious reasons. Wicked Twister isn't amazing but sure is fun. I had never really liked Blue Streak, as I had only ridden near the back. I went opening weekend this year and rode in the front car back row. INSANE EJECTOR AIR. 'Nuff said. Skyscaper is pretty cool. If you have a Platinum Pass you can get a Buy One Get One ticket. I rode it 3 times last year and twice already this year. Just remember it's outside of the park and it costs $10. If you have a Platinum Pass (I'm assuming you do), the plan I always do is enter through the resort gate and go to Maverick for ERT. Now I usual am not there for full days, but then I'd go to Millennium Force, and after that wait for Dragster to open, if it hasn't already. These rides have the longest lines in the park, so doing that will save you a lot of time. After that, just ride as you please . PS: Do NOT attempt to ride Raptor before, say, 4 PM. Before that, lines verge around an hour. However if you go around 7 or so, I usually get 15 minutes or less.
  7. A hidden message, maybe? Anyway I saw the new sign there with Jackson on Friday night. Looks pretty cool.
  8. I take it SFoT hasn't had the best publicity lately, have they?
  9. Such is a variation of the eternal question of the US Court System. What constitutes "commerce"? It's the court's decision.
  10. Uh, I think that the people in Louisville would flock back to KK if it reopened.
  11. I usually don't bash others for their coaster opinions (as we all have different favorites), but if one were to say that they like Vekoma flyers over Tatsu I would be shocked.
  12. I've ridden a Superman clone at SFoG and Tatsu, and I'd say they're both better than the Vekomas.
  13. Tomkatt: I totally agree that most smokers would like to quit. And I know it's not easy. My grandma recently quit after 50-some years, and it took her several months. However, the same grandma is now on oxygen all the time and is wheezing nonstop. When we (or I) say we don't want people smoking at KI, we're not just thinking about breathing in second-hand smoke, we (or I) are thinking about how harmful it is to the smokers and worried that they'll end up the same way. May just be me though.
  14. Sorry to ask, but is Chang coming back or no? EDIT: Ooh, could this mean....Twisted Twins?
  15. Part of it is. I was there a few weeks back and after riding Flight Deck, saw that it is dismantled from the entrance to about 20 feet in front of the bridge.
  16. THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this topic. Seems like a lot of topics on here are pretty negative. The topic description says it all .
  17. Haha! That's awesome! EDIT: Well, the joke, not the part about him getting fired.
  18. They just need to enforce it. It's really not that difficult. They just don't enforce it, and that's the problem. I'm confident they could make it work.
  19. But in all honesty the majority of people at the park (who don't smoke) would be happier if smoking was banned altogether. EDIT: ^True that
  20. When smoking isn't banned, people are more likely to smoke outside areas because they already have cigarettes in their pocket. If it's banned, they don't. However you still get the people that will bring them in anyway.

Has this speed ever been measured? A friend of mine guessed it was about 70, but taking a closer look last week it didn't look any more than about 55. EDIT: The reason I'm not a big fan of Millie is consistency. The drop and first overbank are amazing. Perfect. But after that, speed isn't enough. In my opinion, you need a ride to keep you entertained, and I just don't feel it does. The part between the tunnels is pretty boring, IMO. The part after the tunnels is decent, I like the bunny hill by the station, as it provides some good air. But other than the bunny hill, first drop, and first overbank, I just don't think the ride delivers consistently.
  22. it was definately NOT due to cold temperatures. it was rainy the first time, and supposed to be rainy the second time, and they would have lost money due to extremely low attendance. period. I planned to go both times, and was very disappointed then but i dealt with it because at least they told us beforehand. This time was once it was already open... they didnt even bother to change the sign yesterday... They still open up the park on weekdays before most schools get out, many days of which have extremely low attendance, but they still open up then. Moral of the story, when you say you're going to open up, OPEN UP. It's one thing to close the park while people are there, but to plan on having the park open, then telling us it's not open the day of, gets kind of annoying, especially when they do it twice in a row.

Maverick! It's incredible really. So many different forces are thrown on you, it's great. Plus it proves a coaster doesn't need to go 80+ MPH or be over 200 feet to be really good. For CP I'd go: Maverick Magnum Raptor
  24. Taking a closer look at the Forbidden Journey, it looks awesome! I had no idea what it was, besides a dark ride. For those who don't know, it's a Kukacoaster that runs on a track! Sounds amazing!
