  1. That cracks me up when you talk about that. The best thing I've heard was in line for Millie at CP. This guy with his kid in front of me points over at Power Tower and says to his kid, "We should ride that white thing." ( .. you mean that white thing with the giant red letters on the top that say POWER TOWER??)
  2. The mist fans in the queue do ease discomfort momentarily when you're hot, but they do not help with dehydration. When dehydration goes hand in hand with heat exhaustion, it can be very dangerous and even send a person to the first aid station or even the hospital with heat stroke if symptoms do not improve.
  3. Water. Do not enter a long queue without it. You will regret it. Sunscreen. Take some in the park with you. Reapply when you feel hot, even if you are not burning. You will be amazed at how it cools you down. If you still feel light headed or somewhat sick, get some food and Gatorade or Powerade. The last time I was at KI, I ate, reapplied sunscreen, and drank several cups of the free ice water. I still felt faint and had no energy. Tom was considerate (as always), he got some Gatorade and shared it with me.. I felt a lot better afterward. Hydration is key here. Drink water or electrolyte-enhanced sports drinks, even when you are not thirsty. Stay away from caffeinated drinks or alcohol, you will get dehydrated quickly and start to feel sick.
  4. I chose null vote. Holiday World is proof that you don't have to be front and center, or have 946 coasters to be a great park. It's truly a hidden gem. I don't think Holiday World should have to rush to keep up with the trend of other parks adding giant steel coasters. As others have pointed out, it would most likely take the magic away. If they didn't build anything for the next few years, it wouldn't bother me at all. If you want a thrill park with lots of giant steel coasters, there's a great place called Cedar Point. Let Holiday World be what it is.. a wooden coaster lover's paradise.
  5. *dies laughing while trying to wipe water off of screen* .. omg.. Backlot Stunt Job..
  6. !! I have a favorite steel coaster and a favorite wooden coaster. It is impossible for me to pick one favorite based on that.
  7. You're welcome. I like rows 1, 2, 3, and 16. 1 and 2 because I love the wind in my face and the track in front of me. I also love hearing the chain grind to a halt as the front of the train peeks over the first drop. 3 because it has mad ejector air. 16 because.. well, do you really have to ask?
  8. LOL, if you and the other person kick your feet enough, you can get the cage on Slingshot to flip like crazy. Tom and I got that thing to do so many flips yesterday, even I felt queasy afterward. Of course you're going to think Slingshot is boring if you don't have a little fun with it.
  9. I've stayed at Breakers Express. Very, very nice hotel, and close to Cedar Point. It IS a little pricey, but you get clean, quiet rooms that are very comfortable. Plus, when you stay there, you get early entry passes and can do the 1 hour ERT!
  10. Skyflyer scares the living garbage out of me.. but that's why I ride it. Nothing compares to an adrenaline rush from something you're not quite ready for.
  11. I say Millie, DB, Maggie. Here is why. I have ALWAYS gotten air on MF's 2 hills. But if someone ranks coasters based on airtime, then how is it that they enjoy Beast, TTD, and Raptor? Millie has a gut wrenching first drop that has yet to be beaten by any coaster I've been on to date. Millie also has no trim brakes or MCBR to slow it down or ruin it. There is a reason why it's never dropped below #2 steel coaster on the planet in Amusement Today's polls since it's debut in 2000. When it broke down on ERT night last year, people were booing, cussing, and throwing trash outside the queue. I went during Halloweekends last year, and Millie's wait was posted at 3 hours. When the whole cable issue happened earlier this year, I heard several people declare that they were going to skip CoasterMania altogether if Millie wasn't going to be open. People LOVE Millennium Force, and that is not going to change. Diamondback ranks second for me because as much as I love the airtime, that grabby trim and the grabby MCBR just don't do it for me. If DB was trimless, it would be my #1 coaster, but we all know that will never happen. Magnum ranks third for me. The lap bars hurt, and the ride is very rough in some seats, especially if you're unlucky enough to get a wheel seat. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the ride and the air on the bunny hills, but a 20 year old Arrow hyper definitely has an ouch factor.
  12. Sorry about that! I hit a wrong key.
  13. In light of all the recent polls, I felt the need to make one too!
  14. I chose null vote, because I couldn't decide if the first option or the last option was more hilarious. Bring on the polls. It gives me something to do while I'm out of college for the summer.
  15. LOL, when they said it was time to go back down the Eiffel Tower, I was pouting because I was gazing at DB and watching it run. I'm glad I could help you, Rach. I know how much it sucks when you are in an elevator and claustrophobic because I am the same way. I find that if I face the wall with space in front of me, or look out the window, it helps a lot. I didn't mind getting row 3 on DB behind you guys. As much as I love rows 1 and 2, the ejector air in row 3 is out of this world. You get yanked out of your seat like you would not believe.
  16. A discussion about pain, you say? I rode Magnum XL-200 trimless in a downpour.
  17. There certainly are. You should take a voyage to this legendary park, I guarantee you will be raven about it when you come back.. hehehe
  18. STOP IT You are making me miss Raptor! I will lap that thing all day and night if you let me!
  19. Voyage, Millennium Force, and Diamondback. Head over heels in love with all three.
  20. Wow.. some "injury." Way to make a mountain out of a molehill. Occasionally I've felt faint on Invertigo, Millennium Force, Maverick, and Raptor.. it's called food and water, people.
  21. I heard someone tell their kid yesterday that Maverick goes 100 miles an hour. Lady behind me on Magnum on the brake run, points to Corkscrew: "Which one is that? Double Loop?" Guy in line for Power Tower: "You mean this isn't the line for Corkscrew?" I also heard a guy tell his friends' kids (that were sitting in Maverick's row 6 seats) laugh and tell them that the back seat of Maverick is for adults only.
