late 1970's footage on youtube
With the park 35 years old now, I've wondered if an area of the park called something like "Old Kings Island" would go over. Have a cafe or something (a mild re-theme of Festhaus?) with old memoriabilia in it, historical signs, etc. Maybe bring back a new version of an original small flat ride. I think Oktoberfest would make a great area.

late 1970's footage on youtube
Its been posted on here before, but, its still a great watch. I've never done psychadelic drugs before, but between the bright colors and the music, I feel like I'm on them when I watch it.

KI Train / Little Miami River Entrance
Would I like something like this? Yes. Do I think it would ever happen? No. Sadly, I think a place like Kings Island has to have, at least these days, only "controlled activities". What I mean by that is that the customer really doesn't have any control of what's going on. They strap in, ride the ride, and are released. I think something like this could have happened when Kings Island opened, but not in today's society where you have to worry about so many liabilities.

Adventure Express
Didn't AE used to have an on-ride photo?

~BYE~ Best Year Ever 2007!
What roller coaster in your opinion had its best year ever? The Beast! Every year is great! What thrill ride in your opinion had its best year ever? Does Viking Fury count as a thrill ride? Oktoberfest represents!! What restaurant had the best food? LaRosa's; I like their pizza, but they sort of won by default. Second place I would give to BBSS. Once again, vintage KI. What crew/area was best? IJ:ST. I'm always impressed with that crew. Very efficient. Did Son of Beast have its Best Year Ever? explain why or why not. I saw no difference; just that there's no loop now. What new show in 2007 was the best in your opinion? Endless Summer on Ice. I had never been in the Paramount Theatre until this year; I was really impressed. What was the best thing that happened this year at Kings Island? Hopefully that they began work on a large coaster for the 2009 season. What change from 2006 to 2007 was the best? Have to give that one to Firehawk. Great ride. Did Kings Island Central have its best year ever? I would have to say yes, with having the event at the park. Hopefully, if there's another one, I can make it!!

Take off tuesday to the Outer Limits
Until a couple years ago, I didn't know that "Outer Limits" was a show. I have to really wonder why they would make such a huge investment for not one, but two rides themed to a show that, I think, no one has hardly ever heard of.

Post your favorite pic of 2007
Since we're deep into the off-season, I thought it would be neat to post a favorite pic that you took of the park this past season. Helps you to remember why we spend so much time on these boards in the first place. My favorite is from my first trip of the season, in June:

Buy a carowinds pass and get free admission to Scarowinds all year long!
I noticed this the other day, too...Has CF's mind changed?

parking lot construction
It seems there used to be more "attention to detail" in the parking lot in years past.

How do you rate the food service at Kings Island?
Kings Island's food service can be bashed all day long, but its not any different than whats going on everywhere. Service at any place you eat has taken a nose dive. Everything is based on things brought in frozen. And, prices are crazy, too. At just about any sit down restaurant you're going to pay in the $10 range for a hamburger, and soft drinks are hovering at the $2-$2+ range. I suppose you can speculate for reasons all day long, but basically companies are having to/choosing to squeeze every penny possible, and a good chunk of that is squeezing every bit possible out of your help. Its not hard to imagine that this isn't going to produce your most "motivated" employees. I wish I could visit the '70's Kings Island park, but that isn't coming back. The whole world is a much different place than it was then.

Tomb Raider to be removed?
What would be cool would be a wrap-around IMAX-style screen and it would be themed as a skydive jump. All the flips and rotations would be like what you would experience in a real sky dive.

Update on the former Lion Country Safari Monorail
I just really kick myself for not riding the monorail when I went in '92. That was my first visit to KI since those pics above ^ were taken. Looking back to my trip in '92, I honestly don't even remember it being there.

GOCC Christmas Party, Dec 8th

Update on the former Lion Country Safari Monorail
Here are some family photos I found of the Lion Country Safari. These are from 1975. I apologize for the clarity, or lack thereof...

Screamscape rumor of coaster removal at Cedar Point
The only time I ever went to Cedar Point was in 1996. Its such a sore subject. We drove 4 hours and got motel rooms for two nights. We got up, rode Corkscrew, got in line for Magnum, and they shut everything down due to rain. The only thing we got on was I think DT...did it used to be themed to something like a bobsled? Anyway, with it being the only thing opened we waited like 3 or 4 hours...what a trip...

Great Wolf Lodge Launches Snowland Winter Festival
On Kings Island's website, they are actually advertising a Christmas celebration in Mason. The Beach has a holiday event, and now even a hotel (practically) in their own parking lot has one. Too bad they can't pull something off.

Paying for amusement park trips
I quit buying coffee in the mornings, and started packing my lunch every day as a way to pay for my KI trips. It made it easier to give up the coffee on those cold mornings when I thought about being at KI on a hot day, and having the spending money to go.

KI meeting trip 08'?
I hope there's another event next year. Didn't get to make it to this year's.

What does Kings Island need to do to improve PKI.com?
I'd like to be able to buy Kings Island gear online. Especially now at the holidays. I saw on Cedar Point's website last year you could buy Christmas ornaments. That would be really neat.

When you wish upon The Beast.
Does any one know why they don't build any rides over water any more? Is it just a cost thing, kind of like how they don't build as elaborate queues, either?
