  1. It makes my day to see someone in a wheelchair be able to ride a roller coaster/ride. Yeah, I've had to stand in line for awhile, but I can't imagine how neat it is for that other person to be able to spend a day at Kings Island and ride the rides like everybody else.
  2. Awesome. That is just pure balls. Anybody that has ever jumped anything on a bicycle or motorcycle can relate. 100% commitment. Thanks for all the coverage of the event. I would have liked to have been there, but just had too much going on during the weekend.
  3. Great TR. I really want to visit KD. Your report makes me want to go even more.
  4. Then, I wonder if (statistically) they are safer. The wear and tear caused by the assembly and disassembly of traveling rides would seem to negate any additional inspections and regulations.
  5. Yet, this morning on The Today Show, it was said that these type of rides have more regulations than those at permanent parks. ***Edit*** I typed this before SpecialK's post. I was referring to the above posts.
  6. There was just a segment on this topic on the Today Show a little bit ago. The thing that bothered me is that they never did mention any statistics. Just that shopping carts at the grocery store had more federal oversight than amusement park rides.

^ I can't ever remember that stand being open. One of my pet peeves, too. I hate to see closed stands.
  8. It seems like, for many people, discretionary spending is the last thing they give up. I know many people, personally, that have given up homes, cars, credit scores, etc., but don't quit eating out, bowling, etc.
  9. Personally, I would love a new, long(ish) log flume. After the new ride for '09, something different like that would make a great addition to the park.
  10. Who uses premium gas and why? I allways buy the "CHEAP" gas and have never had any issues with it, never needed any repairs caused by using it. I sure don't use premium in my vehicle. No point in doing so. Just kind of wild to see any price go over the $4.00 threshold.
  11. Premium hit $4.15/gal down here in Southern O-Hi-uh.
  12. That sounds like a nice 2-3 day trip. KI and the Cincy Zoo. I love the Columbus Zoo, but have never been to Cincinnati's.
  13. By some stroke of luck, this one may be coming true. ^ Now, I want a real restaurant at KI. One that you go into, get waited on, and eat at. Like you see in almost any town in the U.S. You'd think that a company that can drop tens of millions on a new ride could put in a restaurant and make a go of it. There's tons I don't understand, though. I think it would be mighty scary to be in charge of a company that has decided they must get $4 for a Coke in order to run their business correctly.
  14. Thats a problem I bet that CF hopes to never have to solve.
  15. Wow, I did not know that. I graduated in '91. I wasn't part of the drinking crowd. When I found out thats about all they did, I passed on it. Ironically, 5 years later, I was a substitute at my old high school. The girl that was student council president asked me to chaperone. Being the naive 22 year old I was, I said yes. What a joke. They must have just needed a chaperone down on paper, but not really one in reality. Every kid in the park was high or drunk. If I owned an amusement park, I wouldn't want any part of that. Tragically, a high school senior from here in town died driving home from grad night in 1992.
  16. They don't do grad night at Kings Island any more?
  17. SOB-Too painful. It took me years to work up my nerve for Drop Zone and Delirium. Rode DZ twice, and Delirium once. Two years ago. Haven't had the desire to get back on them. Never have wanted to get on Slingshot or Skyflier. I've been opting for "Nostalgia" as of late: Zephyr, VF, CF, AE, Beast, Racer. It just doesn't seem like the newer rides are as fun as the old ones. Sure the thrills are higher, but it doesn't make them any more fun, in my opinion.
  18. Very nice TR. Makes me want to go!! Its only been 3 weeks, but it seems so much longer. Glad you and your son had such a nice trip.
  19. 1. Lion Country Safari 2. Enchanted Voyage 3. King Cobra 4. Attention to Detail 5. Original International Street
  20. He sounded pretty optimistic in the AP interview.
  21. Does Kinzel have any other choice than to be optimistic? Of course Kinzel and co. are going to spin it any way possible that the prices they're charging is justified. Is anybody here going to go to work tomorrow and tell your boss that you really aren't worth what you're being paid? Especially if you're in debt up to your eyeballs?
  22. I love weekdays during the summer. I think its a more relaxed atmosphere. On weekends you get more of the "this is my only visit to KI" crowd.
  23. For a time, Tomb Raider: The Ride was probably my favorite ride in the park. I really liked the theme. I rode it once last summer when the sound was not working. It made it not even worth the wait. For the most part, I am really optimistic about Cedar Fair's ownership. I am going to miss the storylines that went along with ride installations at Paramount's Kings Island, though.
  24. Speaking of dress codes, or lack thereof, why is it when you get in line for a ride, its always by the most rude, obnoxious, loud, foul-mouthed young person in the park? I never used to put any thought into it, but now I look around before I enter a queue, knowing I'm going to to have to spend a considerable amount of time around who just walked in ahead of me, and who is following me in.
