G Forces
Good point. Like I say it could be just my imagination that putting my arms up relieves the G's. Still think would be good subject of an experiment for math/science day. There could be a small amount of truth to it. The equation for radial acceleration is R*Omega^2, where Omega is your angular velocity and R is the radius. So by putting your arms up you will move up your body's center of gravity (CG) a small amount, thus reducing the acceleration (G-Force) you feel. Now on the air time hills on DB, the inverse is true the higher CG with your arms up would increase the acceleation and thus give you better air time. (End Scientist mode, enter Engineer mode) Do I believe you could actually perceive the difference? I seriously doubt it.

Cedar Fair Still Searching For FUN
Streamlining operations would probably be a decent way to improve profitability. I've been to KI a couple times this year when they are more employee cars in the parking lot than in the public lot. I think parks need to pick up some LEAN literature.

Former Hard Rock Park has a new name
At parks a Child should be defined by height, not age.

^ They also do a ton of damage. I cut up some wood they got into last summer and couldn't believe how long their tunnels were.

Hand stamps
ETA: About the wristband thing. The park I grew up had wristbands for rides ($1 to get in, $14 for a wristband to ride), they changed the color and pattern (hatch) of the wristband everyday, one year I collected all over my wristband, around 30, and I only had one repeat. It is not hard to change the bands up.

Little Things You Notice
I've noticed that KI has a massive Carpenter Bee problem. I also noticed a couple of them mating on Friday

Anyone see today's Webcam?!
When I was there, before 10am, there was no seat assigner. 1st almost no trim, hard on the MCBR 2nd quite a bit of trim, light on the MCBR 3rd light on the trim and MCBR Also, I took note of the seats this time: 1st - 2-2 on the Green train, at black line it was touching my thigh, no room at all 2nd - 15-1 on the Gold Train, at black line about 1.5" between my thigh at lapbar, I could fit half my forearm between my legs and the lapbar 3rd - 2-1 on the Red Train, two clicks past the black line and I could fit my hand up to my wrist between my leg and the lapbar

Upcoming Coney Mall Addition?
Cedar Fair is quite proud of the fact they run amusement parks, not theme parks. Give Kings Island five more years under Cedar Fair (should the company continue to own it that long), and I doubt you see even a vestige of theming. I have always preferred Amusement Parks I hate having to walk by a ton of theming to get from one place to the other. That doesn't mean I don't want the place to look nice, though. I do think they should put chaser lights all the way around The Racer . I also remember the first time I went out to KI and I told my wife I was very glad it was an Amusement park and not a theme park. There are some places that can pull off theming like Sliver Dollar City, but other than a handful of places like that I think theming is just boring and takes up space, like at SFOT or Frontier City. Of course, this is just my opinion and I know a lot of people like Theme Parks.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Personally, if I had to pick one or the other it would be Sea World hands down. But like I said, I haven't been to Fiesta Texas in quite a while, but Sea World is better every time I go.

Anyone see today's Webcam?!
I got three rides in during ERT this morning. The trains would only have 5-10 people on them, pretty nice.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas
The restaurant is Casa Rio very good food, we make sure to hit it every time we're there.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas
I went there in '95 - this is before Six Flags ran the park. I enjoyed the water park a lot and their fireworks show was the best I've ever seen at a park. The Rattler is mega boring, though. I know a lot has changed but the rides were pretty lacking when I was there. Be sure to hit Sea World while you are there, it is amazing, plus both their coasters are really fun. Their water park and log flume are also really good. I think their flume is probably one of the best I've ever been on. Also there is a Mexican restaurant in the middle of the river walk, next to a bridge that you have to eat at. They have outside seating with right colored umbrellas over their tables, can't miss it. I'll try to remember/find their name for you.

Crypt
I'd prefer the box get scrapped too, or maybe rotated to a different park where I don't have to see it every week.

New Water Ride?
^ I thought that was what the Diamondback was for? :-P

New Water Ride?
It is all a part of having a well rounded park. It may not draw people, but it will help keep people coming back.

Crypt
Yeah I could see how that would make you dislike them

Crypt
Even Top Spins at other parks are still much less intense than at Fairs. But I agree with you a dark ride would be a pretty good use of the building. I think putting a top spin inside is dumb, one of the best parts is watching the world go by.

KI in Action 4-26
It looks like a girl is standing up on the seat in front of here, she is on the right side.

KI in Action 4-26
Yeah, that is what I noticed, I had to looked at it for a minute to figure out what was going on.

KI in Action 4-26
So my wife agreed to let us go to KI on Sunday as long as we didn't ride anything... So, much to my wife's disappointment, I grabbed the camera and we went. I tried to get some cool pictures of the rides "in action." I took these pictures around 5 and the sunlight was really harsh, so I am sorry about the hot spots. Other than that no real story, so enjoy. Can anyone notice something funny in this picture? When I first pulled up on the computer I had to do a double take.

Crypt
I'm not that big of a fan of the Top Spins. They are great and all but I think a ride similiar to Dark Knight would be amazing in the Crypt's building. Before you completely make up your mind on Top Spins ride one at a state fair. At least the ones I've been on at fairs are unbelievably intense and they don't run the same program all day, so every ride is different.

Crypt
Sad to say but this is very true (in my opinion). Top Spins were always my favorite at the fair and I liked the one at Knott's, but the Crypt is just boring. I think they are too afraid of it breaking down to put a fun/intense program on it. The Crypt (thanks Unrealsk8er) is a Giant Top Spin...it is not capable of some of the gyrations that regular Huss Top Spins are... Did the park know that before they bought it? Or did that fact to light during testing? How did Huss pitch it to KI "We have this really fun ride, so now we think we can make it bigger and boring, while having more maintenance problems."

Death of the Carnival
Well I know my old Carny boss is still doing really good, he told me last year was the best he's ever had and this year is looking pretty good with even more events lined up. The true test for the year will be this weekend. There are of course different levels of carny companies. There are the places like Murphy Brothers who has newer stuff and take pretty good care of it, then they sale their used stuff to the second tier people that do county fairs, and then their are the third tier people that buy it after the second tier people have used it. The third tier people are the ones doing church fundraisers and setting up for weekends in nowhere Arkansas. The people on the bottom always have the old stuff that seems out of repair, etc, but that has always been true. So it sounds like this guy went to one event ran by a low level carny company and he is saying because they don't have new rides it must be an end to all carnies? Doesn't seem like he is making a solid argument.
