  1. I'd make a good wager we see on of the loops or corkscrews show up somewhere in a midway.
  2. Also sounds like there isn't a good shot at reassembly.
  3. That's not really how engineering works either. They could know it has some amount of cycles left before nearing it's safety factor and are choosing to just close it now than to close it halfway into a season. They know pretty much exactly when parts will fail. It could also have to do with off season climate etc. But yeah, just because something is "wrong with Vortex" doesn't automatically mean that it's not safe.
  4. They updated them pretty big from what I remember seeing. They are all infared now as well.
  5. Vortex will honestly probably be the most loved coaster to leave the park. It will easily replace The Bat for the one everyone talks about that used to be around. The Bat was just elusive, and very few actually rode it to have a say. But Vortex has been an SOHO region staple for decades and across generations.
  6. I still can't believe it's happening.
  7. Surprised no one mentioned this... They sell no-boos you can get and the actors won't bother you. They are at the front gate. Also if you wear something that strobes a blue led or a solid blue led light that's pretty noticeable, I'm pretty sure it'd have the same effect.
  8. lmao, what if Orion isn't really our "giga"
  9. I think it would become an issue with the size of the company vs. the size of their competitors. There are a lot of weird laws and roadblocks with mergers and I'm sure with the industry already being so limited they would run up against quite a few walls to climb.
  10. Well this would be a merger and not just a purchase so a bit different than the Paramount - CF purchase. I'd expect to see Cedar Fair take over a lot of the Admin stuff within SF since it seems like that's where they have struggled. I hope it doesn't go through, even IF they agreed on something, it would likely still have to be approved by special committee and I don't know if it would because of the size of company it would create in the industry.
  11. Maybe it's just me and I'm going again Friday night but I thought last year was better... I hated the techno all over and not really having a maestro on IS. Just felt like a bad goth club most places I was at.
  12. I was the random guy that said hi on Friday night. I was on the last crew for Beast/Flying Eagles when they left in 04. It's no fun to lose such an iconic ride but the pubic support and appreciation for them in their final days is really special. Being on The Beast/Eagles crew for a whole year I have a special appreciation for The Vortex/Troika rides as they were always our friendly rivals. Not to mention Vortex was the background song for pretty much every night of my summer in 04 working by it.
  13. Eagles were a big deal to lose. Lots of petitions and public outcry.
  14. Has anyone actually found where this was apparently said by PTC?
  15. Honestly a Mack would be great in that spot, especially something like smiler. I really don't want a dive machine, or anything else from B&M, who knew we would ever say something like that back in 04-08.
  16. Vortex would have been fine. This just simply has to do with the bottom line. Make your own assumptions and theories on that. Rollercoaster companies to the best of my knowledge don't sell their own parts. They'll contract that stuff out and the parks will buy directly from the vendors or make the parts themselves. Anyone who's worked around industrial things typically knows that many machines are repaired and parts machined in house or by another company. There will be a company that makes wheels, a company that makes the brake pads, and so on and so fourth. I just don't like the way this feels, it feels like it's a "how do we just cut costs" type decision maybe even outside of the parks hands.
  17. This one stings. It hits right in the heart. Honestly compared to some rides it wasn't really as rough as people made it out to be. But yeah, i hope that massive high vis plot of land isn't empty for long.
  18. Yeah, they and their family can't even see it, like wtf. lmao. They could at least put it into an obscure area in like the Festhaus or something.
  19. What's the difference between a 100ft coaster accident and a 300ft coaster accident? Pretty much nothing. It is just as safe it not safer than older coaster models.
  20. If I'm remembering correctly, the brake shed which is the straightest part of the ride where you hit the aggressive magnetic brake at the end was originally a block brake for the ride. I don't think it really ever ran this way though. The first lift hill is really slow on this ride because it cannot send the train over until the train ahead of it has crested the second lift hill. When the first lift speeds up suddenly it's because that next block is totally clear. With the brake shed they would have been able to send the train on the first lift over before the second lift was clear. It would not have functioned as a block brake section with hills there.
  21. Gonna need some proof or sources buddy.
  22. We could be dealing with my least favorite Cedar Point game, "Bad mopping job or did someone really just **** all over the floor?" Every bathroom at CP even on the slowest days I've ever seen there the bathroom floors are like swamps.
  23. Separator was really only added as a Fast Lane need then it's turned into what it is now. They used to only use them when they had gold pass perks in early 2000s as well.
  24. Some rides such as Ferris Wheels have to be balanced to operate as designed. I believe some chair lift rides like the one at CP are the same way as well.
