  1. The park will always try to staff Rides first, then food and merchandise. Would you rather have a restaurant closed or a ride?
  2. Don't know if this has been said before, but the length of the clearing is roughly the length of The Racer's footprint, just kind of interesting.
  3. There must be a separate set of "leaked plans" than what I've seen then.
  4. It's impossible to tell at this time. We have the distance between the footings, but we don't have a descent angle or the radius at the top of the drop. We can use historical data to take a guess, but that's all it will be, a guess. As for your assumption above about the first hill being an overbanked turn, there is quite a bit of distance between the drop and the turn around, so I would assume there is some sort of airtime hill or element between. There is also a good amount of distance between the turnaround the "treble clef". Basically we know nothing.
  5. Because when people started plotting the points for the footings, they noticed that it would take a steeper lift hill to get to the numbers they had in their heads.
  6. Mystic Timbers is my favorite ride in the park and it's not even close. Everyone needs to step back from the edge.
  7. Could possibly be KI's excavator as well.
  8. Gordon, Even though I am a mechanical engineer by trade, I don't have enough details to properly solve this problem. However, I can assure you that those billboards are not designed to handle the load of a rollercoaster track.
  9. That would be way too heavy for a sign like this.
  10. But with this attitude how will we ever get out of the shadows of Cedar Point!
  11. Toronto is significantly larger than Cincinnati, I won't debate that. Charlotte is probably similarly sized if you spread out the market. Using Cincinnati and Charlotte's actual population probably isn't a great marker when both parks are not located in the city proper.
  12. This new coaster is going to be called Everything sponsored by Einstein Bros. Bagels.
  13. I'm going to argue a bit with these numbers. The greater Cincinnati area, including Dayton, NKY, etc is far larger than 301k.
  14. And route the Flight of Fear line where? No thank you.
  15. Re: T Shirts For what it's worth CincyShirts and Homage have had Kings Island apparel in the past.
  16. I was just about to do this.
  17. You have to know the reference point at KI to know how to map these.
  18. I think you are thinking of Delirium. However, TR:TR and The Crypt suffered a lot of downtime in general.
  19. Vortex is unlikely to get removed until you start to see it have frequent mechanical issues. Parts are pretty readily available and despite it's short line times, is one of the most ridden rides in the park. I do wish they would replace the trains with the new Vekoma trains though.
  20. I work for a company that makes forestry clearing equipment. They can do some serious clearing in the course of a week. My assumption is that they have a guideline of when they need to have the forestry cleared prior to grading of the ground as well as the pouring of footings. Surprised how close they have this going towards The Beast, but excited about it nonetheless. I also believe those maintenance buildings will be moved.
  21. It's part of how the ride works, though. The cars run on something like a cam. Would require additional hydraulics to raise and lower and would be a lot more expensive.
  22. You can get a crude measurement of height and width with google maps. As for height Wikipedia claims 80 feet.
  23. I don't think so. They run plumbing in the winter all the time outdoors. The water inlet isn't below freezing, and they likely aren't testing it until the system is complete. I don't feel like they were behind schedule. They likely had a target date of Memorial Day to get everything dialed in. They could have opened the park without the fountains open for all that it matters. The fountains work, they just aren't synched to the fireworks show yet.
  24. Brutal winter? I would beg to differ. It was pretty mild. Yeah, it was cold, it's winter, it gets cold. We didn't have any significant snowfall events. That had nothing to do with their preperations. 100% agree here and truth be told, the park isn't going to hold KIC's opinions in as high as a regard as what they perceive the GP overall. KIC and enthusiasts make up a very small portion of their attendance.
