  1. And it’s not Don either, if that’s what he’s trying to imply. I’m not going to “out” who it is, but it’s pretty obvious given his personal anecdotes and tweets he’s posted.
  2. More like 300 people in a 10,000 seat venue. I felt bad for some of the artists. With that being said, I did greatly enjoy the concert series last year. To be clear (and to reiterate what you’ve been saying), us poking fun or pointing out the budget cuts is not a referendum on Mr Koontz or anyone else. They are given a budget, they use the budget. The total purse is not under their control and, knowing that money was scarce, they did a good job. Koontz isn’t an idiot. He doesn’t say, “you know what we could do this year? Grand Carnivale but less. We’ll have rides, but for less hours.” They do what they can with the money they get.
  3. Terms are subject to change. No refunds.
  4. I’m surprised that no one has mentioned the temporary change to the nightly show. Now this, on the other hand, was awesome!
  5. Plus cutting hours out of the other opening ceremony/dancers’ schedules so they work four hours instead of eight. Much of what they have is really great, some of it is so cut down that it’s less like Grand Carnivale and more like Church Carnival.
  6. This also explains why the opening ceremony is at 6:00 instead of 5:00 like on past years. 5:00 - clock in 6:00 - opening ceremony 7:00 - parade 8:00 - clock out Saving well-over three hours of labor per performer.
  7. I see both sides. On one hand, it’s his personal Twitter. I get that. On the other, he is the park spokesperson. That doesn’t go away. He Tweeted bragging about how the park wasn’t hiring, implying that they were fully staffed. On that same channel, he was asked why so many rides were closed. When he dodged the question, Chris said that many others would want to know the answer. Instead of directing him toward a resource that might allay the question, he blocked him. I feel like if you put on your personal Twitter bio that you’re the spokesperson and that people should follow you because of that, you are opening yourself up for people to ask you questions about the park. He clearly models his Twitter off of Tony Clark’s, and I feel like Tony treats his as a professional twitter account rather than trying to go claim it’s personal when it’s convenient for him. With that being said, I do get that Chris has had issues with Chad. But I still feel like this is all out of hand. How many people has he blocked for just asking a question? Hell, he blocked me on LinkedIn for being critical of something he did years ago. I hadn’t even spoken to or interacted with him when that happened. It’s not like I was harassing him on LinkedIn or anything like that. But I will leave you with this thought: if you think the “tweets are my own” tag holds water, how many stories have you heard about people being fired for things they posted on social media… and that’s WITHOUT also saying that they were the company’s spokesperson in the same bio. Do you think that when they sat down with HR that they could have argued that it was their personal account, not the company account? I’m not suggesting that blocking people is grounds for termination, but I am saying that it is generally accepted in business that you are persistently a representative of your company. This is amplified by putting the fact that you’re the spokesperson in your bio. Blocking people and ill-advised tweets (like the fully staffed one) can and does affect the business. But yeah- let’s leave the guy alone on his personal channels.
  8. They also didn’t mingle and then close out the night on stage like they did in past years. Really took away something that was rather magical in past years. Food was good, parade was fun, but the budget cuts this year were really felt in some aspects.
  9. For those who haven’t heard, Don Helbig and I have launched a second podcast! Tower Topics will be short, bite-sized episodes talking about everything Kings Island! We plan to upload several episodes per week!
  10. The parade is at 7:00. Here is an article about the events of Carnivale. If includes plenty of information besides when the centerpiece of the event (and one of the most important pieces of information) starts. Clearly left off the press release. Good job. https://local12.com/news/local/kings-island-kicks-off-grand-carnivale-a-summer-celebration-of-global-cultures-event-world-wide-culture-visit-international-national-mason-county-ohio-spain-germany-italy-france-china-taste-cards-spectacle-of-color-parade-community-events-cedar-fair
  11. OR… KI Comms can speak for themselves… maybe? Anyone? Bueller… Bueller… Bueller?
  12. Here they are:
  13. It’s a good day to have a good day.
  14. I like them a lot, but $39.99….
  15. 1. No. Facebook ads would not be scheduled out 5 months. Plus it could have been altered, even after publishing. 2. Even if it was third party (it wasn’t), KI could have vetted the content. They didn’t. 3. There is a difference between using an nondescript defunct ride in an ad and blatantly advertising that you can ride a ride that was removed. You sure are quick to defend him with weak arguments. Almost like you’re being fed what to say… hmmmm…
  16. “Wait. We have a waterpark???”
  17. Maybe someone was out getting a selfie and missed the memo?
  18. One person signs off on this sort of thing at the park. I’ll give you three guesses as to who that is.
  19. BoddaH1994 posted a topic in Kings Island
I know that they didn’t mind doing a bait-and-switch on the Prestige Passholders, but NEW FOR 2023, they’re now false-advertising to daily ticket buyers!** **Not all rides advertised still exist. No refunds.
  20. Maybe it’s trust issues. Terms have been changed on us so much that maybe people are thinking that the park will use this as an opportunity to make it so parking is an up-charge and no longer included with Gold, that you don’t get a renewal price for Gold because you technically downgraded from Platinum and so on. None of this would be out of line with what happened to the Prestige people last year.
  21. I shouldn’t have to contact a park about benefits. I should have it at the time of purchase… in writing. By the way, if the terms are subject to change then why are we not allowed to downgrade from Prestige after purchase? So they can bait and switch but we can’t change our terms of payment without notice?
  22. …and just wait until someone comes out of hiding and tries to answer these questions. LOL JK. They won’t be available for comment.
  23. That would require someone to show up on a weekend. Not happening. What about when the media received a media alert saying that the job convention was in HR instead of the Festhaus… only for an admin on here to have to point out the mistake.
