  1. ^^Didn't you get the memo?? Rivertown has a Western theme!! At least according to a certain company that puts exclamation points ! at the end of things!
  2. Last year a self-proclaimed Slingshot vet (told me he'd been on it over 75 times since it was the only thrilling ride at KI) told me to just lunge your head and upperbody forward (like a somersault) and you can get it to flip that way. He also said once you get some speed on one good flip, that'll take care of the rest, and you can usually get 6-7 good flips without having to do anything. Sadly I really couldn't get anything going myself, and only got the 2-3 flips you naturally get anyway. This guy I talked to was like mid-40's, brown hair, beard, red jacket, and had a 20-something step-daughter who despite having gone on 25+ rides with him was still scared of riding!?! Anyone ever see this guy at KI??
  3. ^^WOW!!! Looking at those stats makes me think about what my stats would be for the # of times I drove between Cincy and Indy when I lived in Cincy!?! I don't wanna do the math to be honest! However, 194 miles??? Isn't 465 to 275 only like 100-ish miles??
  4. ^^Probably too many nickles for them!!
  5. Don't worry, dude, you have all of next season AND should probably be focusing on beating my D-back ride count next year anyway!!
  6. Hopefully this can be lined up to some lift/drop profile shots really soon!! I tried to get some last weekend, and it was a little tricky (to get everything in one camera view), but from the BLSC queue I could do it with some branches and (soon to be falling!) leaves in the view/way a little.
  7. ^^Ooooooowww...sounds like competition for my Diamondback record!!
  8. ^^How much do I wish ALL Indy meteorologists were as straight-shooting as Jude Redfield on WTHR!!! (NBC-ch. 12/13)
  9. Yes and no....my guess is KI will have multiple check-points like CW did with Behemoth, but 30,000 people won't be showing up either!! However, I wouldn't expect more than 1 ride on D-back, especially if the event is a 5-10 pm sort of thing. (hence SPPNight!!)
  10. Interesting!! Do they do this at the parks that number their flags as well???
  11. Getting back on topic...No (for Speed Lanes), Yes (for SPPN). See, I told ya even I could answer these questions!!
  12. Not to turn this into a weather thread, but your sample size (due to your age) isn't the biggest either. That said, long-term outlooks are usually educated guesses at best!! The main thing I've noticed (as a 20-something) is that for the best few years now Sept-Dec have all been a lot warmer than I remember in high school, AND both March and April (and to a degree even May) have all been a lot cooler than I remember, particularly March which has been fridged the past 2-3 years!! In high school the start of the NCAA tourney (beginning-ish of March) had always meant retiring the winter coat until next winter, but the past few years I've worn that sucker throughout much of the month!! All the while, the past few October's I've enjoyed 80 degree weather at CP and no snow's in Nov!
  13. Especially since CP is strategically running only partial trains at key RB times more and more!! Which, btw, kills capacity!! Try looking around more during your rides/launches!! The best is looking to your right or left during the launch and ascent, you literally see the ground go from flat to turning in an axis to 90 degrees! It's pretty cool!!
  14. Like seeing an angel's face!!! Btw, and obviously the jury is still out until construction is finished, but the one thing to consider in the whole angle degree situation is length. Couldn't it be true (with respect to the renderings) that D-back's 74 degree drop could be actually at 74 degrees for a longer length than B-moth's is?? Obviously the entire 220' drop is not all at 74 degrees, but if D-back was at 74 degrees for 125 feet and Behemoth is only at 75 degrees for 85 feet, then that would be significant!! Especially given that D-back has tight quarters to fit into while Behemoth had an entire lake (errrr...rentention pond) shore to sprawl out over!
  15. ^^Agreed, BUT...I just think the expectations may be a little overboard here!! (even for BGE! )
  16. ^^Says the back of my Cafe Press shirt in Diamondback's queue, circa May 2009!! Tehe!!
  17. ^^I'm sure KI is taking volunteers to do the yard work and landscaping!!
  18. Yeah, that happened to me earlier this season, but I think it was because I was really hungry...on those 10 am-7 pm May weekdays I usually only buy drinks at CP and eat a few granola bars I have in my pocket, but riding MF hungry isn't always the best move!!
  19. ^^Or Eagle Fortress...if you ever make it to South Korea!!
  20. Like I said, I think post-Delirium's long breakdown in 2005 (it might have been 04?) the repairs made the ride a little weaker AND more rough unfortunately!! You know that slight metallic squeal you hear when Delirium runs? Well, I don't think it had that sound pre-breakdown. I think when maXair opened in 2005 and before Delirium's SBNO status mid-05, they were both the same ride. But after Delirium got fixed it's never gone as high anymore. Well, it has the most coasters of any SF park and the most unique/diverse collection...and it has X2!! But Great Adventure still has your 2nd favorite coaster you've never been on, El Toro!!! Of course, I don't think anything will bump MF from your #1
  21. I mean, I'll be at KI this Saturday to see things up close and personal, but I just haven't been as awe struck yet about the lift like I thought I would be, and like I am when I see Magnum from afar or Behemoth. My first trip to Canada's Wonderland this year I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott 2 exits away from CW (3 if you take Major Mac), and when we got to the hotel it was nighttime, and when I woke up that morning I threw open the curtains just to check out the weather and guess what I saw?! Yep...Behemoth!! Seriously, from over a mile away!! Now I know CW is on flat ground and Behemoth is on flat ground, and KI is not, but you can see it from far away and many places and it's very impressive to see, and yet Diamondback just doesn't seem to measure up as it looks right now.
  22. ^^That is exactly what I'm meaning!!
  23. Color me as continuing to be...not skeptical, but just not completely blown away...yet!! I mean, the lift, while growing and getting bigger, isn't looking nearly as tall as Behemoth or even Magnum at this point!! While I continue to keep the faith, it's just not looking very high to me right now.
  24. I finally got to go through your PTR, and WOW!! Great job! You and Beast1979 are awesome with your PTR's and you totally capture the trips really well just like we were there, so thanks for posting!! I'd be too crazy to quote everything I wanted to comment on, but I'm glad you finally got to hit maXair and know why it is so much better than Delirium! I counted the swings this year on both, and you get two more on Max than Deliri AND if you took a pic of both at their apex (which I did), Max is easily 20-30 feet higher!! Though from what I've heard, maXair runs higher and longer now than before it's breakdown last year (I didn't ride it until after), and Delirium *used* to run higher and longer before it's breakdown in 05 (I also didn't ride until after). But frankly, the Delirium operations this season at KI has sucked!!! Sorry. But on maXair they actually count people during the ride cycle (rarely done at KI this year from what I've seen), and at CP they move fast during loading, while KI they're complete snails. Thank God Diamondback's restraints are idiot proof, or else I'd hate to see Delirium's miserable operations there! Btw, seat 21 on maXair is sick and by far the best! (by comparison, I found seats 40-10 fairly weak). As for Wicked Twister, I've mentioned 8-2 (2nd to last, right-side) before, but I'm no Indiana Jones in the discovery as I heard from others about it...but I'm glad you got to try the "cool seat"! hehe Unfortunately, I didn't go to BooBuzz this year, but at ERT people got 12 laps on Maverick and many without getting off! That's crazy!! But your Saturday ride count still looked ok, considering. Did you attempt the Haunt on Millennium Island? That's also good to hear you finally tried the SC lot! As I've said before, I'm never parking in FunWay again. I liked the MF pics from Perimeter Rd..."Please Keep Moving" As for the Maverick ROTB, I ran track in college so I have pretty good endurance, but commonly people start off with a 400 meter speed, which is crazy considering Maggie to Maverick is like a half-mile, but by going at a 800 meter pace I usually pass the carcasses around the train crossing (despite getting passed at first), and easily get the first or 2nd train. I can't wait for D-back's morning runs next year!! Two other questions I had, is Bre the Maggie ride op with curly blonde hair? And doesn't SkyScraper have the BOGO free discount with Platinum Pass?? And lastly, I'm not sure where you sat for BoringHawk, but there's one side and one seat that I think could be the "cool seat" gem and seems to be way more thrilling than other sides/seats. Sorry about no TTD RB!! I've been on that like 50 times and have never had one Sorry my post was so long, but I'm glad Sunday was a lot better and you had a good a trip! Although I'm still hoping to one day maybe see a PTR of yours from Great Adventure! (or Magic Mountain or BGE)
