What are your must have pass add-ons?
The drinks and dining if one goes at least 6 or so times. Really if one doesn’t have the dining plan it’s foolish to eat at the park. It’s massively overpriced and just edible. Even the fast food outside the park is better quality.

Seasonal Overlays for rides
That’s the LEAST that they could do. It’s video based! Lol. It wouldn’t take much effort.

Kings Island Prestige Pass
That’s how Cedar Fair operates. They take your money and advertise something they don’t provide. They consistently close parks earlier than advertised when attendance is low. So why wouldn’t they screw passholders out of other advertised benefits. B They have the mentality of the people love coming to the amusement park so much that they can get away with these things and the people will still renew their passes

2023 Offseason Speculation/Work
I would be happy if they planted trees throughout the park. Especially the barren Action Zone, Planet Snoopy, Area 72 and center of the park. Well the entire park except Oktoberfest lol

2023 gold passes by Cedar Fair park. Do you think this accurately reflects the supply/demand?
They gave me a new card for 2022 at KD when I bought the platinum. It wasn’t an upgrade. I was renewing platinum. But anyway I just went through the steps to renew at CW and it worked. Depending on exchange rate and cc feed it works out to about $390-$395. I’m still going to wait until I’m actually at CW to renew though.

2023 gold passes by Cedar Fair park. Do you think this accurately reflects the supply/demand?
If one can renew online at any park, they must have changed it. Last year i tried to renew my KI issued platinum at KD online and it would not recognize my pass. I had to buy a new issue pass at guest relations. Or maybe it was just system error. With dining and drinks after exchange rate, tax and cc fees the Wonderland platinum pass works out to about $395 US vs around $465 at the US parks I appreciate the original post here I’m planing to go to Wonderland next week and will probably buy my 2023 pass there The true bonus for me is that my sales tax payment will go to Ontario instead of this corrupt Ohio Republican govt. that refuses to use the voter approved law for determining districts The less tax paid to fund them the better

Kings Island Prestige Pass
I saw that the Carowinds Prestige passes are $74 cheaper, including the all park +

Kings Island Prestige Pass
Busch Gardens offers higher level memberships that include preferred parking and other perks. The level with preferred parking was about $60 more annually. With the way their parking is divided up and the regular parking requiring a tram ride or crossing the entrance road at Williamsburg. It’s a bit of a hassle to get to the regular lot so this was worthwhile. However at KI and most CF parks it’s just one big lot. I don’t think preferred parking is worth saving a few minutes of walking. Even Carowinds with its odd shaped lot has a second gate when the lot is full. The front of the line stuff, just like Fast Lane reduces general operations. Cedar Fair is starting to get some negative operations feedback these days (KI does have decent operations) so this won’t help. This is a very Six Flags thing to do to make a few dollars I also don’t see much benefit of the skip the line passes because while one gets to skip a line, others are going to skip lines on other rides during the day the these pass members are waiting for when they aren’t skipping, increasing those waits If their is free bottled water involved in this there may be value in that since it’s not included on any drink plan Instead of a prestige entry gate wouldn’t it be much better operations to use those resources. to have No Bags entry gates? I just hope they don’t start reducing what you get with gold or platinum. That’s a possibility and seems like the sneaky American way of increasing prices (less product fir same price). I am OK however with the recent price increases on these as they were underpriced especially if one includes dining and drink. In their quarterly financials their biggest brag was that they are squeezing more out of each guest. This is more of that. While their overall EBITDA decreased about 7% since 2019 with inflation fractured in. It seems like their plan to squeeze more out of each guest instead of improving operations, trying to attract new marker of guests with new kinds of non thrill attractions (dark rides, transport) and actual entertainment venues (KI does has more sit down venues than the other CF parks), etc. They are missing most of the target market that allows Herschend to operate 5 days a week 10 months a year….

If Phantom Theater came back..
Phantom Theater was a world class dark ride full of animatronics. Paramount gutted it, filled it with plywood scenery and cut the capacity half. I would like to see the former attraction return exactly like it was with the full omnimover capacity. But seeing how Knotts Bear-y tales was brought back as a cheaper screen based ride by Cedar Fair, that’s probably what would happen.

The Bat is down
I don’t go to KI much despite it being the closest park except for Winterfest. I much more enjoy traveling to more scenic parks like Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens. KI has better rides but rides aren’t everything to everyone. KI should be as nice as KD considering they were built as team parks but it isn’t currently. Back before Paramount got their greasy hands in it, it was as nice and green. Cedar Fair has probably removed as many trees without replacement. Even KIs Winterfest suffers from the lack of mature trees in the park compared to KD and even Carowinds. Those 2 parks have lighting high in the trees that is both immersive and gorgeous. I will leave this conversation with this comparison photo from the 90s until now which highlights how barren KI has become.

Train closing times
It’s purely a cost saving measure unfortunately. I love night rides on the train. That’s what Winterfest is for. B

The Bat is down
Canadas Wonderland and Kings Dominion entrance blow away KI because of their landscaping. The buildings at those parks are also much more interesting. I Street at Ki is literally trees stuck in pavers with little actual landscaping. I will retract a bit. I Street at KI is better than most entrances (other non Taft Cedar Fair parks, Six Flags etc)!but it is the ugliest out of the 3 Taft built parks and KI is the least nicest park out of those 3 IMO. The rides at KI are its strong point more than being a scenic park.

The Bat is down
They could easily plant a bank of white pine around The Beast turnaround and hide it from the midway. White pine grow fast and are relatively inexpensive. There would still be plenty of room for a coaster that walkway between Rivertown Pizza and the jukebox diner used to be tree lined Slowly but surely they’ve made it as barren as the rest of the park. Kings Island Is an ugly park. That’s 100% because of the lack of trees and shade around the park. It’s sister park in Virginia is absolutely gorgeous because it’s tree covered. They can do all the painting they want but the lack of greenery makes the park rather depressing walking during the daytime Planet Snoopy, the back part of Rivertown, Area 72 Action Zone and the center of the park are totally barren The remodel of I Street was also disappointing considering the small number of trees they planted with 90+ degrees days it amazes me that these theme parks don’t try to make their customers more comfortable with shade well the walkways and the queues There are numerous rides at Kings Island b with no shade while you wait Shade structures are not that expensive to build I think Cedar Fair tries to save cost of tree trimming. But it makes some very unpleasant parks it was disappointing they built Orion so close to The Beast It breaks the isolation And definitely decrease the quality of the night rides

The Bat is down
I would guess this is the end. Age. Manufacturer. The crowds they keep pulling even after closing other dated coasters in recent years.

Fall and Winterfest Hours
Are posted on the schedule now.

Fathers Day Crowds
That should also feed into Sunday since for those people that don’t work Monday, it basically turns Sunday into a Saturday like the other holiday weekends

Fathers Day Crowds
I’m guessing it will be crowded since it’s one of the few days coming up without blazing hot weather.

Two VIP experiences now on sale at Kings Island
I don’t get the appeal of the VIP lounge. The fountain area of International Street is peaceful and beautiful and perfect for taking a break. The VIP area is similar to a wedding tent. Is the appeal that one paid for access? $449 for a tour without admission is outrageous. Especially considering the probably pay the tour guide $20/hour at most. Plus this seems to be yet another level of Fast Lane on top of thst program already slowing lines down since they get immediate access. Although there won’t be much participation, it’s something else to slow operations. What I get from this is that Cedar Fair underprices their season passes and especially dining plans enough that they have to dream up unnecessary ideas to squeeze more revenue. Instead of focusing on the best operations possible to warrant higher season pass prices. I would gladly pay more for a season pass if the park was better run overall for every customer Instead of wasting resources on these upcharge gimmicks

Actor Barry Williams “Greg Brady” to narrate Kings Island’s 50th Night Time Spectacular
The show has a lot going on. The action is reasonably timed to the music. This show doesn’t utilize the fountains as much as previous years since it has all the other effects. It’s a good long show. I like that the fireworks are not constant and seem to be timed to the music better than they ever have been. They recorded a custom song for the show, which is the best music in the show. The rest of the music is stop and go, corny and fairly incohesive, but related to park history. In the version I saw, the drones appeared at the start of the show then left a couple of songs before the end. Is that tge normal timing? If that’s the case it makes it a little anti climatic since they are pretty fantastic.

Kings Island 2022 Food News and Reviews
If you get the Flight Commander fries, ask for the pico on the side if you want it. It’s watery and they don’t tend to drain in properly when adding to the fries. It will make a puddle of water in the basket. The green tomatoes were ice cold and not good. Which seems to be the smokehouse tradition in those warming plates (instead of steam tables)

50th Anniversary Updates
It seems to be Cedar Fair policy to only race racing coasters between noon and 8.

Kings Island 2022 Food News and Reviews
Before this year that was definitely the case. I assumed it was because they were shipped in. The brownies the last few years had a plastic taste. One of the easiest things to make at home and they were horrible. What are they making in house this year? Is the quality any better. I think one of the issues is leaving them unwrapped in the display case. That dries out food. If they were wrapped or at least covered they would be better

The Geese of KI
I’m an animal lover but some animals don’t belong in some places. Geese crap as big as dogs do. And they have no distinction between doing it on the grass or walkways. Just like the skunks they use to have. (I think they are gone). Adorable but a huge potential problem with guests It’s best to humanely discourage them from the area if one wants a clean park. I have seen low, non electrical wires put around the water to keep geese from making a hangout. Some solution like that. CP has a seagull problem in which there isn’t a solution. The front midway is usually a littered with seagull crap.

Actor Barry Williams “Greg Brady” to narrate Kings Island’s 50th Night Time Spectacular
If it’s really synchronized to the music it will be spectacular. Versus just playing music while the lights etc are doing their thing like the first year of the new fountain. I thought the fountain show last year was decently synchronized to the music. Whoever programmed it got the idea of matching the lights and water action to the music. Hopefully more of the same.
