June 5, 200719 yr Ok we got to the park at about 9:45am and waited till 10 for them to open the gates. when they open i run to the Firehawk and wait for them to finish testing. we were the first people on. by the way all of you who are saying you waited FIVE HOURS for this thing, i waited for a total of about 20 minutes. so when i get on we go up the hill, flip over, all that jazz, and i should probably mention it is VERY slow. i get off thinking, "i was excited for three months for THIS!?!?!" its a real bummer. and im giving you some good advice when i say, if you REALLY REALLY want to ride it, get there early so you are waiting in almost no line.
June 5, 200719 yr To each his own. I personally loved it, and thought the loop was quite intense. I would NOT say it is a waste of time though.
June 5, 200719 yr So, enjoy Indiana Beach instead. I wish I lived that close to that park! Firehawk isn't Cornball Express, but it is not supposed to be. And yours is one of only about two negative reviews I have seen. If you don't think it is worth waiting for, think of this: Now the other lines in the park will be much shorter for a while!

June 5, 200719 yr Hmm, you wait 20 min and say it's a waste of time and everyone else on this forum says theyve waited 3-5 hours and it was well worth the wait. I myself had even ridden X-Flight numerous times every summer since it was built and still thought Firehawk was well worth the wait. So i guess to each his own but ur def in the minority.
June 5, 200719 yr I find Firehawk to be a thrilling and fun ride, and provides a unique coaster that the general public really seems to like (even if most of them think it came from Cedar Point ). I`ve ridden Firehawk three times, waiting five, three and two hours respectively. I haven`t found that my wait times were a waste of time. I thoroughly enjoy the ride. And as others have said, that pretty much seems to be the consensus among riders.
June 5, 200719 yr I can understand, though, how someone who doesn't "get" Indiana Beach could also not get Firehawk. Oh, well. If we all liked the same thing, there would only be imitation soft serve vanilla and then only from Dairy Queen.
June 5, 200719 yr Author OK OK OK IM NOT SAYING THAT IT WASNT A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE. im saying int just wasnt as thrilling as i thought.
June 5, 200719 yr Calm down, there is no need to shout. Everyone has their own opinions. Some people even say that they find The Beast to be boring. You may not find Firehawk as thrilling as you expected, or worth your wait. That is perfectly fine. Everyone has their favorite ride that they will wait for and rides they won`t wait for.
June 5, 200719 yr I find Firehawk to be a thrilling and fun ride, and provides a unique coaster that the general public really seems to like (even if most of them think it came from Cedar Point ). It didn't help that on opening day, the manager doing crowd control outside the queue was telling people that it was relocated from Geauga Lake in Sandusky...
June 5, 200719 yr Merciful heavens! And he STILL works there? I bet Mr. Dick Kinzel does not know this!
June 5, 200719 yr I`ve ridden Firehawk three times, waiting five, three and two hours respectively. I'm sorry but there is not a ride on earth that I would wait five hours to ride. I am glad Theme Parks install new rides because everyone goes to that ride leaving me to walk on most of the others. So I'm not the first thousandth rider on the new ride who cares? I'll catch it in 2009 when they install the new end-all, be-all new ride then.
June 5, 200719 yr It didn't help that on opening day, the manager doing crowd control outside the queue was telling people that it was relocated from Geauga Lake in Sandusky... Wow. Just wow. As far as waiting in amazing long lines. I have waited 4+ hours for Beast, MF & TTD. None of which I am upset with the wait. Each were in their opening years so it was not much of a surprise. Today, I would not wait that long for any of them for more than 2 hours. I have been on Firehawk at GL and I will not wait for it for more than an hour. I usually find it worth riding other attractions with a minimal line during the openings of new rides that have longer lines. Now when I go to CP later this year, I will wait no matter how long the line is for Maverick, but from early reports, the line does not seem terribly bad. Firehawk is not a waste of time. It is a decent ride and a very nice addition to KI. But what do I know. I still think Beast is one of the best there is.
June 5, 200719 yr I haven't ridden Firehawk, but I've heard with it's placement it's actually better than X-Flight, then it's awesome.
June 5, 200719 yr I've ridden Firehawk 3 times with waits from about 3-1 hour(s). I definatly feel the ride is worth it! It is very thrilling and pretty intense in several places. It has become my favorite steel coaster in the park.
June 5, 200719 yr I rode Firehawk once so far, and I did enjoy it. I also rode X-Flight but that was about 6 years ago. I probably wouldn't wait in another 1 1/2 hour line + to ride it again unless I was with someone who hasn't rode it. But with the fact of them running 2 trains and 2 stations the line waits should go down. I'm going to tomorrow I guess I'll find out.
June 5, 200719 yr Are they finally running both trains? If they are this should really cut wait time down!
June 5, 200719 yr Yes they are using both trains and stations. I guess they started this on Sunday, but reports from later on in the day was, they were still running both trains but with one station. Yesterday reports were they were running both trains and both stations. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
June 5, 200719 yr From my understanding there are both now in use and it takes around 45-1 hour to get on it now.
June 5, 200719 yr That awsome! The line moves pretty fast anyway, with both trains it should be a fairly short wait. I'm interested in seeing how the track moves.
June 5, 200719 yr Rotating track, pretty cool. I personally loved Firehawk. Waited about 45 mins for it which is the shortest time I've waited for it (ki and gl). I was pleased.
June 5, 200719 yr I think Firehawk is a great coaster and am looking forward to riding it again Saturday.
June 5, 200719 yr I am willing to wait for hours tomorrow to ride Firehawk. I'm planning on getting at least three rides in tomorrow !!
June 6, 200719 yr Ya i waited 5 and a half hours the first day it opened and i was in the first group to ride Firehawk and it was definately worth the wait. If you don't like it don't ride it. Makes the line shorter for the people who do like it.
June 6, 200719 yr Ok so they took down the sign by the parking booths that says "Firehawk may open late with limited capacity" Yet today they went back to only running one train (if it's true that they were at one point running both). Still at an average wait of 2 hours throughout most of the day.
June 6, 200719 yr Maybe the other train was out for Maintenance today? What train where they running today? Red or Yellow? I know the red train has some seats that weren't working.
June 8, 200719 yr Well...how's the wait now that they're running both trains. I'm going in a couple weeks and expect to ride it. I rode it when it was X-Flight but I'm going with people who've never rode it....and they're pretty impatient.
