Voyage at Holiday World has zero world records - and it knocks your socks off!  So you don't have to be the biggest fastest or longest to be a great ride.

Where did you get your information about Voyage? The Voyage is the 3rd longest coaster at 1.2 miles long. It is the 3rd fastest coaster at 67.5 mph. Also it is the 4th tallest coaster at 173 feet tall. It features 5 underground tunnels, and 3 overbanked 90 degree turns. This coaster is a record breaker. Check out Roller Coaster Database for more information about record holders. It also was voted the best new coaster for 2006 by The Golden Ticket awards. It also placed #2 for wooden coasters.

So what world records does it hold? At one time it held the record for steepest drop on a wood coaster - but that got taken away long before Voyage was even close to being finished.

Yeah, nobody cares about 3rd and 4th place records. Real records are the 1st place holders. I have heard it's the coaster with the most tunnels and longest amount of total airtime.

One record is for five underground tunnels. The other is most air time at 24.2 seconds. There's your first place records.

We could also say it has the most non records for a coaster that were released in the press release. They could have said its not the biggest, fastest or longest, but instead they went with all the record stuff that tried to dress it up more than needed. Kinda funny like how Maverick is claimed to be like the 4 longest coaster at CP, ohhhh nice record. Seriously, Voyage is a great ride and I am sure Maverick will be also, but I hate the press releases that try and make every coaster sound ground breaking, record breaking, never done before.

I find this rather humorus. And the following is purely hypothetical.

So does this mean when there is a 100 meter race, and the first three people to cross the finish line have a time of 9.75, 9.76, & 9.77 respectivly, that the guy who came in third ran a 9.77, (the pervious world record being 9.78) does that mean he holds a record?

Ya, those press releases are rather funny on how they hype up the rather insignificant details to make it sound like it is the next best thing to sliced bread. On the other hand, what should they put in those releases? No company is going to come out and say that "this is the 174th longest coaster in the world" or "this is the 30th fastest coaster in the world" or even "hey world, we are building a rather normal coaster comparing it to the others we have".

Those releases are more for the casual park visitor.

Actually, El Toro uses composite track, so technically, it's not really a wood coaster, so Voyage still does have the steepest wooden track.

Here you can see that the track clearly is not wood.

Thats weird - there are no seams between boards. What is it - like an injection molded block of wood dust and plastic or something?

Most enthusiasts ride the record breakers to compare with other coasters that aren't that notorious. I prefer the record breakers to ordinary coasters because they do something different/unusual. Maverick looks awesome on the website! I hope it boosts attendence.

Yeah but just because its a record breaker doesnt make it a good coaster. I like SOB, but a lot of folks hate it. Look at the records it breaks. How about rides like Raven, ThunderHead, Raptor, Titan? They don't break any records but I think you will agree they are all great rides. Honestly most record breakers don't keep their record for long and are only touted as record breakers because they are used to draw in the crowds. Hence my generic press release above. Seriously I dont care if a coaster breaks any records at all as long as it is a great ride.

Maverick is using seats with shoulder restraints. Are these the same type of trains used on Storm Runner at Hershey Park? They look very similar?

^In fact, they are the same kind of Over The Shoulder Restraints, or OTSR's. You can find them on Stormrunner and Kingda Ka. I understand that they are very comfortable as opposed to the old horse collars on Vortex.

There looks to be very little there in the way of OTSR. Which will add to the comfort of the ride and you will not be cramped like FOF or SoB. Will provide a very open experience for guests.

The shoulder parts of the OTSRs on Maverick don't touch you. Its still a lap bar - but instead of connecting to the floor between your feet, it connects at two points over the shoulder. It is alot nicer to the bigger folks among us.

...which is one reason many people who do NOT fit Top Thrill Dragster or Millennium Force find they fit Kingda Ka with ease. I suspect Maverick will easily accomodate many larger guests who don't fit TTD or MF. And no, the OTSR's on KK do not touch your shoulders, neck or head, either in the station or during the ride.

I haven't rode KK or SR yet I was just curious if the OTSR's are cumbersome or if they hurt your head like the old style do?

Have you ridden Storm Runner and Kingda Ka versus Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force or the Supermen: The Rides in Massachusetts, New York and/or Maryland (both before and after the modifications)?

For me, at least, the lap bar versions prevent far more people from riding and do NOT offer a superior ride. Besides, it is all academic. It is my understanding that INTAMIN is only delivering the OTSR versions at this time.

The new OTSRs ARE lap bars - they just connect over the shoulder instead of between the legs. They restrain you by pushing down on your thighs. The over the shoulder part does not even touch you though. So they are still lap bars - but they just connect over the shoulder, which is safer, and less restrictive to some guests of unusual body proportions.

Anyone else noticed how slow construction on Maverick is going right now? They have been installing the LSM's and linning them up for almost a month now. Very tricky launch system to set up and get right. Along with the theming it makes perfect sense as to why Cedar Point started construction on the ride so early.

There are some great pictures on Cedar Points dedicated Maverick site showing the instalations and linning process that the LSM stators require. Look at the maze of cables and wires coming off of the launch track. Definately would not want to do that wiring during the middle of winter.

I just think its impressive that the curcuit is already complete this early in the game! Now all thats left is the themeing, and finishing up with all of LSM sections...

Most of the theming elements were probably built off site also. Might just need to be trucked in and set up for permanent display. Honestly wouldnt think a lot of the themeing elements would be assembled on site.
