The electricity for chain lift coasters and maintenance are expensive. There is no moving parts in LIM. I would bet launch coasters cost less to run over their life than chain lifts.

I though it costed more to power up a LIM than run a change lift all day. Some one tould me that the power grid around PKD can not run four LIM coasters. Plus they might be tring to keep the cost down so the park looks good with money when they sell it.

LIM's are linear induction motors...and not only do they need power, they need lots and lots of it. You may be thinking about magnetic brakes, which do not need power!

They're not the "rare earth magnetics" used as breaks on rides like drop zone and TTD. They are electromagnets that are precisely synchronized to attract and repel the fins on the train to cause it to launch. Unlike the earth magnets, they are not always on.

Who didnt know what launched FoF? LIM Linear Induction Motor... not a Magnet persay, but an electromagnet, read what PKINickRoedl said.

i doubt K.I. is getting rid of FoF.. very unlikely they will.. they have more rides now.. smash hitting rides that they needed room for on the map.. like the nickelodeon advertisment in the corner next to the B.B. advertisment, if you want to call them that.

As much as I am hoping and praying that the park does not get rid of FOF.....I dare to say that I doubt it is going to be their choice either way. Unfortunatly I think that if corporate decides that another park may benifit more from the relocation of the ride (See, Flying Eagles) They will do it. And with the way corporate is cost cutting these days they very well may see it as less of an expense to relocate the ride and bill it as "Brand New" at another park then to pay for the design, manufactor, and construction of an all new coaster at both parks (assuming that they build a coaster to replace FOF at our park)

The relocation of rides will come when they close PGA after they sell the parks. I think when they moved Stealth to Carowinds from PGA it was just the start of it.

In the case of PGA I disagree. The boomerang bay that they added is more popular then stealth ever was. The attendance in the park has gone up dramatically since its addition. Especially with the whole "family atmosphere" paramount has been going towards, the waterpark attracts way more people than stealth did. Honestly, for the livelyhood of the park the relocation of stealth was for the best. I have relatives in Oakland CA and last summer, the water park was what made them decide to go to the park.

Ahhh it seems the former dippin dots guy told you, seems hes retired. I know many people can guarantee on here what you said is not true. You may be confused with the "orange" train this year. THat is one of the trains that has had new seat padding installed that is completely orange. FOF used to have 4 trains with the old OTSR's and I do believe now it still has 3 or 4 yet only runs two and they are rotated every season for rehab.

I think the other patk is closing theirs for rennovation. If that turns out well, PKI will most likely do the same

Im sure the parks didnt inconvenience themselves by trading trains around, i mean, whats the point? This with the rotation sounds much more plausable than PKD switching trains lol. PKI's FOF does have 3 trains (but we only run 2 of them), ive no idea where the fourth is. It may just be my wild imagination, but i seem to remember an older train having duct tape or worn down padding? if someone could reassure me on this cus im not 100% sure lol.

rotating trains for rehab sounds SO much better than having trains delivered and swapped out from another park.

FOF originally had 4 trains with OTSR's but I think wehn Premeire made the new trains, they only made 3.

For a very long time, train number 4 was visible when riding the Skycoaster...

He does have a point, we have no proof that the "new" train is from PKD. And just because someone works at the park does not mean that they have any idea about the parks plan. Not to say that the person you know is not reliable, but you did just say, "a former employee told me." Former employee for one, and this is a fairly recent thing, and unless they're a former higherup I wouldnt take anything to seriously.

dang some of these newbies make me mad.

As a personal aquaintence of King Maple I can assure you that he most likely knows way more about the amusent park industry than you or some former ride op do especially at Kings Island. Your word is no good without proof, if we have PKD's trains proivde a better source or some legitimate speck of evidence or else no one on here will take it seriously.

This is like when they put the old seats off PKD Volcano on PKI Drop Zone. There wasn't much proof of it other than the orange paint on them and you could see that they was used.

I don't know how it would have been confirmed. I was told they was by some on here and seen them and that was all I needed. If I didn't see the orange paint from Volcano on them and the metal work that was done to make them work I would have not believed it. The last time I looked the paint was still on them but I don't know now that it has been repainted.

You would never think a park that brings in millions would put used seats on their rides. I think this was in 04 when they was put on.

If you look under seat 34 you can see the orange paint.

I was not able to view a photo on the link you provided, so I looked in the photo gallery, and if we are looking at the same picture, I'm pretty sure the orange is from the seat belt.
