Son of Beast

Featured Replies

That’s what I figured about the middle tunnels that go half underground half above. Were the Helix tunnels always there or where those added later as well? Or were they as well just extended. Man I’m losing my knowledge about The Beast, I gotta bone up hahaha.

The Helix tunnels where added a year later. You can tell if you look at some older pictures from 1979.

Wasnt just one helix covered and the top one uncovered? Thats what I seem to remember from the video.

Sorry, I prefer Wooden Coasters to Steel any day of the week. But Son of Beast is just a bad ride in my book.

And Yes, I've ridden quite a few coasters all over the country.

The Beast originally did not have the huge second tunnel, it was originally two separate tunnels. They later connected them, the connected part is the part where the tunnel is wooden, the original parts is where it is concrete.

Actually, the original tunnels for for Beast was one tunnel, and the other "tunnel" had just a roof on it, just like the mid-coarse run. Neither tunnel on the helix uses concrete.

I have a nice copy of an on board ride just before Beast opened in 1979 with actual workers still working on the ride.
