Six Flags Over Texas Reveals 2026 Giga Dive "Tormenta"

Also, this just shows that this was already planned for a park as expected. Although after looking at the layout for this, now I am kind of sad we didn't get this seeing as it was on one of the surveys for KI last year. This would have been incredible for our park, but alas.

I wasn't a fan of the colors when seeing photos of the track pieces, but seeing it all together with the Texas / western theme, I like it!  Interesting that they didn't place the drop right over a midway like many dive coasters, but it will an amazing sight for those driving in, and especially those waiting at the entrance plaza.  It will also be a thrill for the folks on the train to go right through the eye of the "storm" (Tormenta is Spanish for storm).

Nice to see Six Flags/Cedar Fair still investing in huge coasters, and putting some originality into the theming.

I think that this will be the best dive coaster as long as it doesn't have the B&M rattle that new rides seem to have. Looks like the ride will have the vest restraints like all the other new dive coasters, although I much prefer the old fashioned ones on both B&M dive and inverted coasters. Looks very cool overall!

Is it just me or does it look like something that would fit perfectly in the Invertigo/Congo/Timberwolf plot at KI? Not that I would want one bc I'd rather not get a dive at KI, but just something to think about.

I agree, something like this would fit well in the plot. But I would much prefer another type of ride. A Vekoma tilt would be nice! :D

Anyone noticed that the concept video for the new coaster has the conquistador in it which they just announced is going to be removed? Makes me wonder when they decided to pull the plug on their swinging Ship? Were the animation guys just having fun or was that not the original plan?

It was probably a last-minute decision. It's not the first time something like this has happened.

Had Vortex been left to operate another year or two we'd have had two coaster logos with a triangle in the background. Just an odd observation that came to mind.

I think I’m speaking for 99% of guests when I say we’d rather have a Vekoma tilt coaster over a B&M dive. Vekoma tilt coasters are more intimidating in my opinion. They’re also smoother and more comfortable. I still think a Vekoma tilt would be perfect for KI even after Siren’s Curse at Cedar Point.

I also agree that I would much rather see a Tilt Coaster at Kings Island over a Dive Coaster. I rode Siren's Curse last month and it just completely outclasses Valravn in my opinion, from the holding you over the first drop gimmick to the actual layout. I would love to see more of these pop up throughout the chain. With the current economic climate, however, that does give B&M an advantage due to their track being manufactured locally as opposed to Vekoma rides that have to be shipped from overseas. I'm wondering how much that's going to affect American parks choosing between B&M and Vekoma. Again, I would much rather see Six Flags move away from B&M and work more with Vekoma, but these are business decisions that have to be taken into account.

Tormenta is a really cool name! It could do without the tagline, but I'm guessing that might've been done for trademark reasons. Does anyone have the stats for this one compared to Orion's stats? It could be interesting to see if this one beats Orion on both the height and length stats. I also wonder how many people will actually try to claim this isn't a Giga like how they said Orion isn't a Giga

The renderings make it look like the coaster really only takes out the tram loop and a few parking spots, meaning the tram systems are probably officially dead-er than they were last year at Six Flags parks. That's very unfortunate. Trams seem to be one of the easier ways to help improve guest experience.

I'd also rather see a Tilt instead of a Dive at Kings Island since not many parks have that yet.

I hope it won't have the annoying shimmy that Wrath of Rakshasa has.

EDIT: Also, why brown?  It looks so dull aesthetically for a 300 ft coaster.

Iron Menace had it too and it ruined the entire ride for me. I have doubts that this one will be any better.

Nice to see a theme other than "haunted <something>" like what is so common with the legacy CF parks (Mystic Timbers, Iron Menace, Siren's Curse, etc.), though I'd imagine a bull fighting theme would be far more meaningful in Texas than in the midwest or eastern PA. Either way this looks like a fun coaster, and I might have to venture down to Arlington to ride it at some point in the next few years (already have Missouri on the list for next year and possibly a Canadian trip in 27, so maybe 2028?)

Here's the ride vehicle reveal at IAAPA. Hopefully it isn't as shaky as the other B&Ms that have come out recently, but I have my doubts. I'm going to try and be optimistic though, so maybe they changed something in their manufacturing to get rid of the rattle/shake.
