Where would you put a laser tag arena in Kings Island?

Featured Replies

I woke up this morning and a thought has been stuck in my brain ever since, what if Kings Island had a laser tag arena? Think of all the fun that could be had, so many different game modes, or various theming possibilities, the fun truly could be endless, but then it hit me, where would this go?

There’s just so many buildings where this would fit right in throughout the park. Personally I would like to see this go in the tomb raider building.

Where would you like to see it go?

I feel like they had one years ago in the building that was demolished for Coney BBQ.

It was a laser "Maze" but it's still the same result.

I'd prefer they leave laser tag arenas to laser tag venues around town (ie Main Event)

However if I were running the park and was required to install a laser tag arena, I would put it in Area 72 in probably the Chaos building and give it an alien/paranormal activity theme.

Down the street maybe near Kroger…

here’s the negative with it being at KI: if it’s a pay for play thing, it will cost more than its worth and it will break down quickly and be subpar.  If it’s free then it will be very bad with no upkeep.

They've tried the laser tag attraction before.  Specifically, there was one for at least a couple seasons at the end of Coney Mall in the old Cinema 180 dome during the Paramount years.  It was always an upcharge.

Correct me if I'm wrong Shaggy, but wasn't that approximately where the restrooms by WindSeeker are located?

Imagine paying for it after already paying to get into the park, when you could pay to play laser tag at another venue without an overhead admission cost.

Nah dude Mike would not let some mid laser tag up charge attraction slide, this would be top of the line, QUALITY stuff, you would be handing cash hand over fist just to get in.

Nah dude. We had one....it didn't last.

Yeah, and you know what else didn’t last? Winterfest. Guess what? It came back, went away again, and then came back.

Good ideas never die.

Imagine SENOR KOONTZ holding up a laser blaster running around the tomb raider show building for the promo video, would be fye

I hope this area gets some good TLC when (or if) a new coaster/station goes in The Vortex plot. The whole area feels a little cramped since KMAA took over one side of the path.

Just because you think it's a good idea doesn't mean it's so.

It is.

STRENGTHS:

  • Unique, no other park in the region has an upcharge laser tag arena.
  • Revenue generator
  • Indoors
  • No height requirement
  • family friendly

WEAKNESSES:

  • Hesitant to buy in due to up charge
  • Cost to renovate tomb raider show building to a laser tag arena
  • staffing

OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Seasonal overlays
  • Season pass holder discount/free with prestige (added value for passes!)
  • Competitions
  • ticket add on
  • Could have celebrities that visit the park visit this attraction for marketing

THREATS:

  • Local FEC’s
  • Video games

Seems pretty bulletproof to me…

I worked there for laser tag. Fun fact Kings Island did not operate it. I was hired by an outside company who rented that space. They were based out of Charlotte, and had one at Carowinds as well.

I remember the one that was in Coney Mall, usually I'm not a fan of uncharge attractions at amusement parks. There are some laser tags at my local roller skating rinks but it wouldn't fit at Kings Island in 2025 in my personal opinion.

You’d have a better chance meeting Koontz hammered at one of the new bars located within the park. :P

I had a buddy that worked the original for a stint that said it was SUPER boring because nobody did it. I played for free when it was raining and she was there a couple times, and I still skipped it even when it was free. It just wasn't good.

I'm thinking it didn't only fail, but it was a crash and burn. Plus, KI can't even keep the gun on Boo Blasters working.

I would definitely not bet on this kind of attraction ever coming back. If it does, hopefully they commit to it and don't make it a tiny circus tent attraction again. If they are going to commit and use that much space, imho there are tons of better uses for the space.

Thank you for being logical! Seems to be something that is ignored.
