The Bat Removal Rumor

Featured Replies

I will now, going forward, refer to this company as "Six Axes". Just change the flags to axes at this point.

This is the new world order I guess.

Unfortunately I don't think with the current leadership and ride removal trends that The Bat will last too much longer but I hope they can get a 5 year plan in the works to retire AND replace the olde

Perfect!!! I appreciate your added sense of humor to my comment!!!

Thank you!  Your observation/remark is brilliant.  It made me chuckle when I read it this morning.  ( But saddened at the same time because of what's happened so far and what's to come).

Would you take 4 Action Zone closures (Bat, Drop Tower, Invertigo, Congo Falls) if they were transforming the area to a DC Universe area within the next 4 years?

It's an interesting thought and something that makes alot of sense from a corporate standpoint. I personally would not want to see Banshee themed as it's pretty well themed already with the graveyard and everything. I could see repainting Delirium to joker colors or Wonder woman colors. If this is the route they go, I envision a new standout coaster in the Invertigo/Congo, Timberwolf plot and a new flat or two in the Drop Tower/extreme sky flyer plots. If The Bat bites the dust, I don't think we will see it replaced. It is too far removed from the rest of the park to be high on the priority list for replacement keeping in mind we have prime real estate at the end of Coney Mall that is vacant as well. If The Bat goes, the path will terminate at the bathrooms down past Banshee.

Now I am not saying I want 4-5 ride closures in Action Zone or that I want a DC Universe retheme. I'd prefer something a little more original and to see investment in the aging attractions however that is not the current climate of the chain and if I could settle for a new standout coaster and two unique flats, I'd trade Invertigo, Congo, Drop Tower, and Sky flyer for that .... The Bat hardly counts as an exchange because I think there's a less then 10% chance it gets replaced because of the investment cost and the poor location in relation to the rest of Action Zone.

Dear god no.

NO DC GARBAGE. KEEP THE DC COMIS GARBAGE OUT OF KI.

I'm curious what makes D.C. garbage compared to other IPs the park has held in the past. We've seen both extremes in terms of quality under Paramount and Cedar Fair's leadership.

At the time Tomb Raider: The Ride was announced in 2001, CoreDesign had pumped out 5 Tomb Raider games in a 4 year span, the Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider movie had released to critical failure, and fans were unhappy such a large investment was going to a dying IP. TR;TR went on to become one of KI's most ambitious and critically acclaimed experiences upon opening.

I hope we see the beginning of more ambitious experiences like that again, even if it is "DC garbage".

A Gotham City retheme of AZ could be incredible… if done correctly. Though, with the current direction of things I’m not confident that would be the case.

I would be okay with DC making its way to KI if they were to transform the remainder of Planet Snoopy (area not currently Camp Snoopy) into DC Universe. Imo DC comics would be much more recognizing to kids today than Loony Toons.

I think with the park's family focus, it makes sense to rebrand not just to D.C. in general, but Teen Titans "Jump City". Arguably their most popular IP with kids and teens from both the original show as well as "Teen Titans Go!". Assuming we're not losing any of these rides yet, here's how I'd split it:

Banshee → Raven

The Bat → Robin

Drop Tower → Cyborg

Invertigo → Starfire

Congo Falls → Beast Boy

Delirium → Slade

Even if done in the expected "Six Flags way", it would at least allow it to stand out against the other parks with D.C. themed areas.

I'd revoke my pass immediately. Lol.

Leave KI as is. Its charm is partially why it's my favorite park.

I also believe AZ becomes DCU within the next couple of seasons. Why wouldn't they use a highly popular IP that they already own? AZ theming doesn't even make sense any longer.

I’m guessing they will do this once Banshee needs repainted. It was 14 years between Diamondback being built and when it was repainted so maybe we can expect AZ to be replaced with DC theming in 2028?

I just died a little inside...........................

As much as I would hate to lose the Banshee name/theme, what is there could be turned into a pretty cool Arkham Asylum theme. The Bat obviously could be Batman. Drop Tower could be Superman and Invertigo Two Face assuming it stays around.

So I contacted guest services recently about Drop Tower Delirium Congo falls Invertigo Xtreme Skyflyer And The Bat being removed and heres the vague response they gave me, like if they aren’t being removed say that

I think it's fair to say that asking any of these places what their plans are with attractions are going to be met with a lot of fluff or auto-generated responses.

The luke-warm vagueness is all the rage.

I would hold off on $$$ for large-scale retheming for a bit. The merger created a massive company that may not be sustainable in it's current form and properties may be shed in the inevitable reorganization.  Anyone recognize AOL, Time-Warner, Turner Broadcasting- I may have placed an age on myself? The late 1990s merger created the largest media giant in history only to unravel by 2002. Widely regarded as one of the worst mergers in corporate history.

Book "Fools Rush In" details it pretty well.
