February 22, 200521 yr For those of you who haven't been by the park in a couple of weeks, I noticed that they began tearing up large portions of the lot. I'm not sure how long this has been going on, but one can only assume that this is the start of the "Bush Gardens look" that Jeff discussed during the IJST tour.
February 22, 200521 yr Well I highly doubt that they will be moving the Goldpass lot any closer to the entrance. There are a few dozen spots closer to the main gate before the handicapped. They could relocate the Goldpass lot to the preferred area, but then it would be a smaller lot. And they actually did increase the size of the Goldpass lot. If you look, well I`m not sure what they are doing with the lot now, but last season anyway, you could see where they move the white posts a couple rows to the south to increase the capacity of the Goldpass lot. Are they ripping up the lot near the entrance, like to add more trees? Or are they ripping up old chunks of blacktop in order to resurface the parking lot? I know they asphalt has seen better days as there are many pot holes and cracks in it. The one thing that would be nice is to have brick pavers line the entrance area, and not just by the ticket booths and main gate area. It will be interesting to see what changes are in store in a little more than a month.
February 22, 200521 yr They aren't "redoing" the lot. The fence that ran from the waterpark parking, around the employee parking and to the front gate almost has been torn out and they are putting up planters just about the whole length.
February 22, 200521 yr So in other words, they are making an ugly, plain looking chain link fence look more aesthetically pleasing to the visitors to the park.

The fence that ran from the waterpark parking, around the employee parking and to the front gate almost has been torn out and they are putting up planters just about the whole length. Likely case - I did notice that they were working in rows, a large planter would explain a lot. Also, Hablo's right, the place is a mess. If you guys are heading to HR, follow the cones and pay attention, I was misguided and almost ended up in a construction area.
February 22, 200521 yr I would like to disagree with Fo-Shame they are going to "redoing" the lot with asphalt from what I have been told

The funny thing is people where going all over the place after orientation on Monday. Some actually missed the target and ended up in the guest parking lot, looking for a way out. It was funny.

What I did was, when I was heading towards the exit, right about where CDBB hits the dry park a bunch of cones are set up guiding traffic, but there's really only one line... I naturally following the one that lead you onto the road... wrong.
February 22, 200521 yr Anything is better than asphalt. Pavers would be so much nicer on those really hot days.
February 22, 200521 yr I know but they add to beauty of the park. Not to mention there better than the heat that black top generates.
February 22, 200521 yr Who keeps taking my post off? Anyway why does that parking lot really matter? It could be all rocks it for all I care.
February 22, 200521 yr I would like to disagree with Fo-Shame they are going to "redoing" the lot with asphalt from what I have been told I don't know what they are doing and what they are not doing, but all I've seen is the removal of the chain link fence and installing oval shaped curbed section, to fill with dirt and presumably make planters out of them. If they are repaving, why did they go across the majority of the parking lot and already repaint all the parking stalls.

February 22, 200521 yr So thats why they got the new trams last year. Is it going to be like the Universal Studios tour with exploding things and rushing water.
February 22, 200521 yr Ah - I think I saw something like that toward the end of Fearfest. They called it Parking Lot Trams: The Experience, The Sequel: The Prequel's Prequel.
February 22, 200521 yr Maybe since they are re-doing the parking lot they will update their trams . Every time I go to PKI i spend jsut about the whole day there and by the time I leave and walking to a car the Tram is a very nice convience but infortuanently all I ever see is 1 tram going around, usually 1 car, and its very old and shooting fumes everywhere. I just wish theyd improve on this. How about some newer (is that a word?) trams, and more of them?
February 22, 200521 yr Back in the old days they had 4 trains of trams at night and morning. Kings Island lacks in is this area now days. As for the parking lot who knows.
February 23, 200521 yr also, they are always redoing the parking lot every year, just in sections. They really need to fix or "repave" the associate parking lot b/c that is as rough as SOB
February 23, 200521 yr Is it really that much of a walk to the far corners of the lot? I have been back there and have walked. With Americans getting as fat as we are you would think people would want to walk off all that junk food. It's about as sad as an overweight person on one of those scooter things.
February 23, 200521 yr i think that they should repave the parking lot and add trees to it an make it really nice.!!!!!!!!!!

With Americans getting as fat as we are you would think people would want to walk off all that junk food. It's about as sad as an overweight person on one of those scooter things. No kiding. But I guess they think they should get a ride since they have to walk in the park.
February 28, 200521 yr Maybe its just me but I dont see the big deal about the parking lot. I could see if they were building a ride in the parking lot, but they are not. It seems to me that they are putting up curbs around the parking lot right now. What they will do do next, who knows? I wouldn't hold you breath for the entire lot to be repaved because that would take a very long time.
February 28, 200521 yr Whenever I come to and from the park, it takes SO much extra time to wait on the tram than it does to walk 3 minutes to and from the park. Walking is just faster and easier. It gets me in the park faster and out of the park faster.
February 28, 200521 yr I dont like the tram cause im fat and lazy I just like to use it after I've been walking from 10 AM in the morning till 10PM at night. Plus, its also great for families that have lots of little kids who get tired easily.
February 28, 200521 yr Yes the trams are nice to use when you are leaving the park. Last Labor Day weekend when we visited, we stayed open til close, in the 100+ degree heat. Let's just say the tram ride was a very nice bonus. And with all the walking you do all day in the park, a little ride to your car never hurts.
