Here’s a rare sight: Diamondback with no splashdown

Wow that looks super weird, is it just me or does it also look like the train is crawling through the course.

They slowed it down at the MCBR since the water is not there to participate in the braking system.

My four rides today had a little different experience as it hit the MCBR:

  • Complete stop on the MCBR for a brief moment.
  • A crawl thru the MCBR.
  • A crawl thru the MCBR and then held it momentarily with only the back car on the brake system.
  • Fairly normal speed at the end of the night on a train not full.

The splashdown appeared to be in the process of draining. From what I understand, this isn’t a nightly thing. They may have been preparing to work on the filtration or something.

It is still low and has been for days.   Maybe cleaning but think that would have been done off season when it was empty...

Maybe KI aren’t able to keep the water levels at the height that is needed for the water breaks to hit the water.

Even though I am not a fan of Diamondback, I think it would be cool to ride it without the splashdown.

That being said, if the splashdown effect were to be removed/permanently shut off, that would be a bit disappointing as that was one of the highlights of the ride that made it unique.

I am not sure that should be an issue with all the rain we have been getting.

Perhaps related to the preparations to reopen White Water Canyon? Does it drain into the same lagoon?

Nah. Probably some sort of maintenance on DB's splashdown. Perhaps with filtration or something. I wouldn't be surprised if it's refilled already.
