December 25, 200421 yr Every year (except for two in which I was in Japan) I watch the apple fall from the top of Times Square on New Year's Eve. This event is associated with Dick Clark's Rockin New Year's Eve. Here is my question - would it be possible for PKI to hold a similar event? Can a ball be dropped from the top of the Eiffel Tower? Is the structure strong enough for such an activity? If so, couldn't live bands play at one or more of PKI's theaters? I wondered if PKI couldn't pull off a smaller, similar New Year's celebration as NYC's Times Square. Just a thought. Please let me know what you think. MERRY CHRISTMAS! Italian Chef
December 25, 200421 yr Sounds like a neat idea.I remember years ago here in Columbus the used to light up the elevator on the nationwide insurance building and drop it at midnight.Pki could proubly do the same thing with the tower if they wanted to have this type of celebration.
December 25, 200421 yr Heres an even better idea! String a bunch of christmaslights to Drop Zones gondola, and drop it!
December 25, 200421 yr Back when they had Winter Fest they would turn off all the lights and count from 10 to 1 lighting up the big star on the tower and then shooting off the fire works.
December 25, 200421 yr are people a little bit "light happy?" Dont Forget to leave the lights on Vortex, and Racer going! and decorate NC and HB with lights... kids love lights and music... but not too loud... as far as Face/Off, that would be a smidgeon difficult, and sob would be terrible, i do like the idea of Drop Zone and Delirium, like leave the "ball" at the top, and drop it on cue, oh! uncover the queue line, and have people file in there! and count down, that way they get a blast after it comes down! also have a contest to have the XSF be ridden at the stroke of midnight! the cord is let at 12:00am Jan 1
December 26, 200421 yr It might be a cool idea but i see Cedar Point doin something like this before we would (not taking anything away from Pki) but becasue Cedar Point just is bigger and theres more resorts nearby.
December 27, 200421 yr It might be a cool idea but i see Cedar Point doin something like this before we would (not taking anything away from Pki) but becasue Cedar Point just is bigger and theres more resorts nearby. omg, always talking about Cedar Point, cedar blah blah blah blah blah point, ha ha just kidding, but it seems as if all your posts are about Cedar Point Cedar Fair, or pki being renovated horridly to be bought by CF, which wont happen! LOL
December 27, 200421 yr Back to the original topic..... The COULD drop a ball on the tower, as long as it didn't weigh too much. Just put a pole on the top for the ball to be attached to.
December 27, 200421 yr For the love of God, people! It may be 30 years old, but it's not like it couldn't support a pretty massive amount of weight. I'm getting this "if the ball weighs more than 50lbs the tower will fall over and kill a bunch of people" vibe. Seriously, the reason why it seems flimsy sometimes is because it's made of steel, which is intended to bend. That's all. The structural integrity is fine.
December 27, 200421 yr String a bunch of christmaslights to Drop Zones gondola Grrrrrrrr....It's not a gondola. It's a "magnetic frame car" or "chair ring".
December 27, 200421 yr If people are foolish enough to stand in the cold in New York, then why not at PKI. They could add this on to Winterfest. There are plenty of area where events could be held inside to keep people warm. Have a few rides open and some live entertainment and your in business.
December 28, 200421 yr Yeah, if they reincarnate Winterfest, this would be a perfect event to attract more people through the gate. They could open the IR again, and have some sort of party up there, if you were willing to pay the presumable high prices. I would imagine PKI would do a good business on New Year`s Eve. Also, I think they would do a good business at Winterfest as well. Only time will tell if they decide to bring it back.

December 28, 200421 yr Call Drop Zones gondola what you like. It sure isn't a rolling stock. And it has many seats. If they were going to do something, we would have heard about it by now. So if they do, it won't be this year. Winterfest might do something like that - but how long is winterfest? I mean are there enough people around here that would go to PKI every day to ice skate to keep it open November, December and New Years?
