September 27, 20205 yr Good eye! I knew one was from Firehawk (with the red and green), but I had to look at it closer to realize the second one was from Vortex. What a cool souvenir! EDIT: Personally, I'm more of a fan of the Firehawk piece, especially as it's both red and green; representing the ride's past and (at one time) present.
September 28, 20205 yr Author ^i don't care if its ugly. Its a personal thing to me. Vortex holds a special place in my heart as my favorite ride of all time. Its been my favorite since ive been a child. My plaque in my room has been sitting here for almost a year waiting for this. Id give anything on earth for a small piece. Anything.
September 28, 20205 yr I'm sure they would look a lot better if mounted on a plaque. From the picture it looks like they are about 3 feet in length, that makes them a lot harder to display easily.
September 28, 20205 yr ^if i lived closer i would LOL. I live 3 hours away though. https://www.ebay.com/itm/124272328530 WHY DIDNT I SEE THIS?! There went my only chance. Too bad i never got a message back from him on shipping prices. [emoji20] Im begging anyone here, help me get my hands on arrow history. Please you guys... im still waiting on his reply, and im getting worried.Well the auction was cancelled as I figured it would be. Also a 1ft section of the tube part of the track weighs about 25lbs, so shipping would not be cheap. I recently saw a piece sell for $500, I assume it was sold. You never know what the park will do. Don’t give up hope yet. You never know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
September 28, 20205 yr Author Id take even a tiny peice. The plaque i have would be perfect for a tiny peice. I just wish i could get my hands on one. Its been sitting in my room for almost a year unused. I just cant get ahold of one sadly. I might throw this plaque away honestly because im unsure if its ever going to be used. I just want one piece. Thats it. A tiny piece.

September 30, 20205 yr This is very cool! Quote A limited number of track slices from the retired Vortex roller coaster will be available to purchase this weekend at Kings Island in the Emporium store on International Street. For $198.70, guests will receive a kit that includes a 1.5 inch slice of track capped with metal plates and mounted in a display stand, a certificate of authenticity signed by Kings Island’s executive vice president and general manager Mike Koontz and a limited edition Vortex postcard set. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog/2020/september/own-a-slice-of-history-from-the-vortex-roller-coaster
September 30, 20205 yr Hope there will be enough supply. It would mean so much to me to buy Vortex track.
September 30, 20205 yr Looks like you have to purchase at the park. And I suspect you'll need to that early Saturday.

September 30, 20205 yr Vortex 1987, if you're looking for a piece, this is your chance. I just happened to be reading this thread and switched over to facebook and saw the post. The price is a little steep, but I might have to make the trip to get one myself! EDIT: Well I'm late to the party!
September 30, 20205 yr Author Ill have the money Tuesday October 6th. If i dont get my peice, im gonna cry like all heck and throw my custom plaque away. This is my only chance. I REALLY hope i can get my hands on a peice of Vortex. I will have to order mine online as I live 2 hours away from the park.
September 30, 20205 yr Hey if anyone is able to get me one and ship it to me I'd gladly be willing to pay them 100 bucks on top of the cost to do so, I live 9 hours away and I've been waiting for this for a good long time. I don't want to risk the online thing.
September 30, 20205 yr @DonHelbig Will associates get the usual 20% off merchandise discount on the track piece?

September 30, 20205 yr If the SOB sale was any indication, there will likely be pieces for sale on Monday morning.
September 30, 20205 yr I really struggle to see them getting that much for this, outside of enthusiasts. I had a pretty deep connection to Vortex and that's about 4x as much as I'd be willing to pay.

September 30, 20205 yr The SoB plaques were also only sold in the offseason and by phone order only, limit one per person. These will actually be in the park for an entire weekend and with two allowed per person, so there's likely going to be people buying two so they can scalp the other one on eBay too.
