I ASSUME they are being staged for painting. In 2003 they were disassembled like this and painted in the picnic grove. I suppose you’re right - we don’t know for sure. However the fountain has had pedestals since ‘72 so if they want to have some semblance of restoration to the 70’s then I’d think this would be part of it. 

I love all the TLC Cedar Fair is putting into the park...with that said, this news both scares & excites me! I can think of things that I would love changed...but fear that they will remove things I love. (I'll keep my fingers crossed.) 

Geeze.... I love those pavers. It almost looks like cobblestone to me. 

I'll probably be that one guy, but I am more excited for the IS renovations than the Tiques. Just because of it being a "magestic" part of the park.

I give Cedar Fair a lot of credit for looking for ways to improve the park.  The great thing about this renovation is how unexpected it was.

Hopefully the park brings back some of the original type shops.  It would be great if they had more retro merchandise like CP does.

I am also more excited about the rehab of IS then cars. I actually keep forgetting about the cars. 

With Firehawk being removed and the speculated giga it's quite easy for the cars to be overlooked.

I think we hit a jackpot with this year's additions. 

This is great news. Can't wait to see the finished product.

After watching the renovation video again, I don’t think they would have shown the pedestals taken apart if they weren’t planning on putting them back.

Who was to stop someone from going into the fountain before this? All there was is a small concrete wall with a small rail...... but, I see your point.

They should also put the antenna back on the Tower to make it look taller and more style-ish.

Exactly. I don't understand why you would want to jump into a fountain that has geese droppings in it (literally; I can't tell you the last time I didn't see a goose in the fountain).

They really need to finish getting rid of the rest of the black top in the park.  That stuff is horrible to walk on in the summer time

Weird to see no Int'l Restaurant in the 1972 pic.

Man, those are some cool pictures. I’ll echo what others have said about the “sidewalk” in the first picture. It would be stellar is those made a return. That looks great. 

I'm not anti- american, but it is absolutely ANNOYING when I try to take a somewhat decent photo of IS with the tower and those flag poles in the way. Just keep them outside the park in front of the main gate.

Couldn't disagree more. An american Flag, and/or Ohio flag add to tje enjoyment .  I have needed to come up with creative framing, at times, but it always works out. Patriotism, from a corporation, is not bad.

Hope they don't get rid of all the trees. Trees add shade and ambiance that takes decades to get back. Hopefully they work them into the new layout.

Patriotism isn't bad, but those flags could be relocated somewhere else. They disrupt the clean visual sight line of the fountain and tower.

I hope the fountains look the same with the blue and white. Takes me back to my childhood and I love it.

Hopefully the front gate is also modernized as part of this update as well.

That is because the International Restaurant was not built on the main gate until I believe 1973.

Knowing what some of the towns around here are known for, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. Heck, years back, when I moved back from Columbus, the first thing I saw was a man driving his car down the sidewalk, over grass and driveways, as if he didn't know he wasn't on the road...

Just noticed on the first two pictures that the building facades appear much more intricate than now. I suppose as a kid, I might not have noticed back then. I hope they bring back the facades. They look more natural to me. Kind of a mini-Epcot.
