July 11, 201610 yr The last two times I was at CP (Coastermania 15 and June 7/8 of this year), they were working like clockwork all day and night. And, yes, I agree completely in regards to said launch tunnel.
July 11, 201610 yr Afterburn and Raven's misters greatly annoy me. When you wear glasses, mist isn't fun. And when you must be concerned about possible eye infections... How about dry ice smoke(steam, most, whatever) at Halloween Haunts?
July 11, 201610 yr Another reason you aren't likely to see me at a boo event (Busch Gardens excluded).
July 11, 201610 yr I think it would be neat if at nighttime , there would be some sort of light projection or laser that would show up against the water as it came up (maybe the DB logo) sort of like how Disney does in shows such as Fantasmic
July 12, 201610 yr There was a maintenance man working on the seatbelts on the last car on the red train when I was riding it not sure if that had anything to do with it. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
July 12, 201610 yr Did you ride Diamondback? No, but I did watch the (evidently non-functioning) splashdown a few times!
July 12, 201610 yr This topic's title sounds like a computer error name on Diamondback. Yeah, I've been thinking along those lines. The title makes it sound as if each rider has the option to ride with or without the splashdown. It just doesn't make sense.
July 12, 201610 yr Went I sit in the back of the train on Diamondback, I always put my arms back so they get drenched when the water sprays up in the air.
July 12, 201610 yr Really betrays the fact that it's just a concrete trough in the middle of a finely-manicured, landscaped lawn surrounded in gravel with a dozen dogwoods, rather than a gorgeously forested, natural-looking lake that would one day fill-in and grow into a reflective, shaded, and beautiful corner of the park with a roller coaster built into the terrain. bkroz, who can't let it go. The point of a splashdown is for people nearby watching to see the awesome water affect, therefor adding ride appeal. If Diamondback's splashdown was heavily wooded the splashdown would be pointless. People nearby wouldn't be able to see it. The splashdown while riding is a very uneventful section of the coaster, the only people who somewhat experience the "splash" affect are in the very back seat, on the last cart.

Whitewater Falls looks more natural than Diamondback's Splashdown, it think Kings Island saw a chance to incorporate an old element of the original KI into Diamondback but either found out that it wasn't as simple as building the ride through the lake or they ended up not having the budget to do everything they wanted.Didn't Winterfest have a show in the lake?
July 12, 201610 yr It is simply not pratical to have a natural lake used for a splashdown element. Now maybe they could have made it look nicer, maybe it was in the plans at one point but at the time we had Mr. Micromanager calling the shots.

And the concept art wasn't even very ambitious. *shrug* No big deal.
July 12, 201610 yr That reminds me of the comparison between food shown on a menu board, and the food that actually gets served to you.

July 14, 201610 yr Just got back from the park about an hour ago. Swan Lake (do they still call it that?) was filled and splashing.
April 24, 20179 yr Rhymes with "Lump." My girlfriend told me that Diamondback splashdown is gone (again?) Did I miss something this year?
April 24, 20179 yr Not unless something changed this weekend. Last Sunday (April 16), I rode in the back row and got my elbow wet by accident, so it was filled and splashing normally then.
