The other six will get to live with this for the rest of their lives, as will all the friends and family.

February 7, 201610 yr I feel especially sorry for the family of the boys who were killed. Losing twin sons to a tragic accident that could have easily been prevented. I cannot imagine how hard that is on their parents.
February 7, 201610 yr I have to wonder if they even watched bobsledding before. To me, it seems about as rediculous to try to bobsled unsupervised and unpracticed on a professional course as it would be to rollerskate down The Beast without even trying Beastie first.

It doesn't even sound like they were riding in an actual bobsled. The articles above sound like they were on a simple toboggan sled like you might have used on a local hillside on a snow day as a kid.
February 8, 201610 yr Trespassing aside, professionals have died on these bobsleigh tracks (2010 Winter Olympics comes to mind), so...

February 8, 201610 yr A family has to live without two sons. Friends have to live with the fact that what sounded like a fun adventure ended tragically. It's a sad unnecessary situation. I doubt they seriously thought of what could go wrong. Take a ride down the bobsled track and head home...it'll be a great story to tell friends. People can pay to go down the runs when the park is open and maybe they thought that it wasn't as dangerous as it is? I don't know. I just know that there are families hurting and nothing can fix that.
February 8, 201610 yr This reminds me of an incident where my sister and her friends trespassed to a private property to sled. Another group also snuck in and was sledding, also, but there was a rocky creek at the bottom of the hill-which is probably why the owners forbade sledding- and one of the girls from the other group fell into the ravine and broke her ankle. My sister is histrionic by nature, and thought the girl was joking, making a big deal of nothing, as she would, and grabbed her by the ankle and dragged her as a joke. The ambulance cost a lot, and the owners of the property were not pleased. It took a long time for me to explain to my sister what was wrong with the whole gig. I imagine these fellas thought there would be harmless fun. I feel bad for them. (Slightly off topic: Magenta Lizard, about The Beast in roller skates. I had a biker friend that we took to the park once, a very vomitty roller rider. We convinced him to try The Beast of all things, despite his horror of roller coasters. No no, we say, its mostly lats, it's like... "Red Barchetta" on a track. Try it. After he got off the ride, he said he wanted to gear his bikes to the tracks and ride it that way.)

February 8, 201610 yr For those who want to see how fast this track is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_zg4rVFP9g Just one small mistake can be costly when going down these runs.
