September 20, 201411 yr But imagine how much better that coaster would be...Actually having bearable restraints! It would be amazing.
September 20, 201411 yr I hope this conversion of Mantis to Rougarou is so popular. Cedar Point will tap B&M to change the trains on Magnum too. Like B&M did with Morgan's Steel Dragon 2000. http://vhcoasters.com/?attachment_id=1099 Please no. Mantis was uncomfortable (for me at least) and the popularity seemed to be waning for it while Magnum, on the other hand, (again in my opinion) is very enjoyable and still very much a fan favorite. So I don't think it would be a sound investment to swap out Magnum's trains since it still is very much loved by many. Also, how many guests would notice a new train on Magnum versus a completely different riding experience with the change of Mantis.
September 20, 201411 yr How is this a "new" rollercoaster? You are just changing the trains and redoing some of the track to specifications for a Floorless Rollercoaster. New Coaster? I think not. New ride experience? Yes.
September 20, 201411 yr But imagine how much better that coaster would be...Actually having bearable restraints! It would be amazing. Don't have to imagine. I've ridden it with bearable restraints. Many, many times.
September 20, 201411 yr Has it been confirmed that B&M will be using the old restraint system used on other Floorless models or are they going to be using the vest system similar to Banshee?
September 21, 201411 yr But is it a new credit? I would not count it as a new credit. You could say the same thing about The Beast with 4 row cars and now converted into 3 row cars. Is it a new credit?
September 21, 201411 yr Has it been confirmed that B&M will be using the old restraint system used on other Floorless models or are they going to be using the vest system similar to Banshee? Not in writing, but the rendering showed the old ones, and in every coaster thus far to use the new ones, they've been in the 3D render.
September 23, 201411 yr But is it a new credit? I would not count it as a new credit. You could say the same thing about The Beast with 4 row cars and now converted into 3 row cars. Is it a new credit? That's completely different to me. While it may be the same layout you're putting an entirely new train on the track that will change the ride experience. With The Beast the change doesn't really mess with ride experience.
September 23, 201411 yr Here's how I look at it: no, it's not a new credit. Imagine when The Racer had buzz bars and no headrests. Did the two incarnations offer significantly different ride experiences? Yes. But does it justify a new credit? No. If the physical track that the coaster is riding on is the same or essentially the same, it's not a new credit.
September 23, 201411 yr I've really never seen Mantis's layout before now. This layout seems strangely odd for B&M. Very windy and such. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk TWISTYYYYYY! Sorry, just couldn't resist the opportunity. OH MY GOD YES!

No. If the physical track that the coaster is riding on is the same or essentially the same, it's not a new credit. With The Racer though......The headrests and buzz bars may have changed but you were still sitting down, in essentially the same train. With Rougarou and Mantis, a completely different type of train is being used.......Completely different. Keep that in mind.
September 24, 201411 yr I think its a new credit because it turns it into a different style coaster where The Beast and Racer examples didnt change the style of coaster.
September 24, 201411 yr Replace The Beast's trains with standing ones. Paint it white, tear down the trees, rename it. Same ride? Same credit? Replace The Bat's trains with inverted, non-swinging ones. Paint it green, build a fake mountain around it. Rename it Forest Peak Express. Same ride? Same credit? Replace Mantis's stand up trains with sitting, floorless ones. Re-paint, re-plant, re-name, re-theme. Same ride? Same credit?
September 24, 201411 yr Yes to Beast standing trains. Yes to Mantis going from standing to floorless. Never heard of non-swinging trains. Of course, never heard of wood coaster standing trains either. One word, "Ouch"
September 24, 201411 yr Never heard of non-swinging trains. He means standard inverted trains, like Raptor, Banshee, or Invertigo.
September 24, 201411 yr At the end of the day, you count it the way you want to count it. Who cares how you do it? It is an interesting concept. But when does something cease being what it was and becomes something new. Many people will buy a classic car, yank off the id plates, strip the car down to the frame, rebuild the frame, then rebuild the entire car using new or remanufactored pieces, slap the original id badges on the car, and claim it as the same vehicle.... I will say its a different ride because the park states it's a different ride. The experience will be different and that's enough for me.
September 25, 201411 yr Thank you, everyone has there opinions when it comes to there coaster counts. Who really cares? It's just for fun anyway right?
September 25, 201411 yr Personally, I stopped counting coasters years ago. Since my son Trey came along, it's more about overall park experience and the rides we can do together. There's nothing like enjoying rides together, coaster or not.
September 26, 201411 yr Details on the last rides on October 19: https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog-article/online-fun/The-Last-Day-For-Mantis?mobile=0
September 29, 201411 yr Details on the last rides on October 19: https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog-article/online-fun/The-Last-Day-For-Mantis?mobile=0 Great idea for the last rides ever. I like it.
October 20, 201411 yr ...like a bug? Terp, who rode Medusa at Six Flags Great Adventure and Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England....
October 22, 201411 yr Tony just posted a new blog update, as well at the first "Rougarou Files" video. https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog-article/online-fun/The-Rougarou-Files?mobile=0
